Killed 12 over the weekend. One of my dogs ate one of them and the rest I just squashed. They make a "pop" noise and muntant green goo shoots out of them. These things seem to appear out of nowhere.

Any update on the garden (w/pics)?

I killed 12 of them this weekend. Widdled a lot of my tomato plants down to nothing. They are huge. Its really a government plan for ginger eradication. Seriously though, one reason the wife and I bought the house that we did down here was because there was a willow tree right on the other side of the fence that kind of came in our yard a bit and gave us some nice evening shade. Well, when a young couple bought the house behind us, they cut the tree. That really sucked, especially since there are next to no real trees anywhere near here.

I would have lectured them on what POS's the were, then I probably would have been on that vid getting my @ss beat by a bunch of them. Buses are hard to fight on, I have done it before. Not sure I could handle more than 1 person at a time on a bus...

That is commendable. I hope you both are prepared for the drama that will ensue due to the fact that you guys have a personal relationship with the mother. My wife and I have thought about adopting, but it would have to be a situation where we did not know the mom, and there would be no other contact with her whatsoever after the child is ours. If you feel the potential drama in this siuation is worth it, more power to you, and like I said before, your point of view is commendable.
