They don't even provide battery backups for their phone equipment anymore
We had ATT at my last apartment. They installed a battery backup with it. When we went to UPS to return our equipment they told us that they aren't accepting battery backups anymore. So now i am stuck with one. Thinking i could cut the connector off and use it for something else.

+1 for kevin. That door probably needs replaced, and resprayed.

After just buying a house, damn there is alot of stuff required. It took us approximately 45 days from in contract to keys in hand.
-
I think it's disgraceful that they are allowed to operate as a phone carrier and are not required to use UPSs on their equipment.
Maybe they do? UPS's dont last forever. Hell, even generators run out of fuel.

Barf.

Yeah I guess I had thought if I had a back up generator I would get internet. But I guess the node also lose power so it really doesnt matter.
Lol... its not like city water.

My internet was out this morning up in waldo. No idea when it went out (some time after 10pm last night).
Really hoping its back on when i get home as we do not get internet through cell service up that way.

From a Server guy please stay away from server hardware for the house unless you have a space to quiet the server down. I had a Dell 2950 and it worked well, but sooo darn loud and expensive (power hungry) to run.
Go for a case with a 120 mm fan. Go Intel and cannot think a reason to run ECC memory? Also why do you think running VM's on Intel processors is an issue. I am running (Lightly) a Celeron processors with 8 gig of RAM (Win 2016 Tech review) without issues. It is also the house NAS/Storage device with a couple Terabytes of disk space..
This is sound advice.

Used to live over off Gemeni with another member on here. It was pretty bad then, before they put a light in. Even with the light there now, you couldn't pay me to live there. There were accidents at that intersection daily. Avoid polaris at all costs. Traffic is insane everywhere in that area.

Yea, that would make sense if you have zero knowledge of the subject in hand and are a potato.
Well Paul IS a potato, so...
I grew up in a wood heated house and have spent countless hours researching the subject prior to even making this thread. Guess its one of those things where i just need to suck it up and knock it out some weekend.

There are a lot of codes for sure...do you have a non-combustible hearth and all that to place it on? That just adds to the costs.
Not currently, but I've been eyeing one of those pre-made pads you can buy just to get us going. Then making something in the spring.

You could always let your balls drop, pull out your man card and install it yourself while saving a lot of money. I'm sure you could find 1029475 videos online showing you how to install one. They are quite easy if you have any basic knowledge of tools and common sense.
I bet after you get a quote back from these companies that you'll reconsider it unless this is a post for a family member.
I figure I could do it myself for about $1500, but want to make absolutely sure everything is up to code. I am somewhat paranoid when it comes to heating devices inside.
do it yourself with Boytim, set house on fire, move back to civilization, and your life is savedThe extra hand would be nice. I may discuss it with him at his birthday party.

Anyone here certified or know someone certified to install a wood stove in my ranch up in Waldo? We are looking to have it installed in the next 60 days.
Not really looking for anything extravagant. The plan is to go to Menards and pick out a stove & hearth pad and let the installer do the rest.

Paul, quit being a cheap ass and get that 2.1 from woot.com. You wont be disappointed.

Are you seeing nothing on windows? You need to tell windows to show certain file extensions to see it in explorer. File and Folder Options > show hidden extensions + show system files (something like that, on a mac ATM so cannot give you exact directions)
Try updating the camera even though you cannot see it in windows explorer.

http://electronics.woot.com/offers/vizio-2-1-bluetooth-sound-bar-with-wireless-sub-15?ref=el_cnt_wp_1_8
Not sure if its a good deal but figured I'd pass it along
Same one i have minus the woofer. Sound is amazing from it. GF paid $100 bucks for just the bar. That one is reconditioned but i dont see anything wrong with buying refurb stuff.

We have a vizio 2.1 set up. I believe it's 38". They sell just the bar for about 100 or bar and sub for 150. I'd say it's well worth it. Sounds great, I like the styling and controls. Allows up to 6 devices. Worked right out of the box with our direct TV remote. We don't even use the wireless sub much because the bar provides clear sound at every volume. Our tv speakers were garbage, that's why we got it, and while we have had home theatres and what not I just couldn't justify spending more then $200 on a living room tv that's running sports, cartoons and movies 24/7.
+1. Love mine.

Jive, pm me your PP address, bruh. Gots ta settle up.

5$ at microcenter. They're all the same so long as you arent talking 50+ feet.

EVERYTHING. Minus those third party streaming apps ryan was talking about. Theyre free for download though. Plenty of tutorials on youtube.
