  2. This is the least of our worries if the "Super Congress" (the legislative committee established by the debt ceiling bill) is formed in the next 24 hours. This Super Congress could introduce legislative proposals with gun control provisions that cannot be filibustered or amended in the Senate or House. Apparently the current structure of our government as laid out in the Constitution just isn't good enough.

  4. Also known as paid vacation.
  5. If you compare the Glock and Springfield XD pistols in .40 and .45, I think you'll find that the .45 is slightly more comfortable to shoot when it comes to recoil. The .40 is a little "snappy" where the .45 is more like a "push," if that makes sense. I would imagine that this also is the case with other pistols in these calibers. Edit: that said...I have a G23 (.40) for self defense.
  6. why in the world would you want to open carry an UNLOADED firearm?? Seems like a fairly stupid law....not surprising it comes from CA.
  7. I wonder if he's allowed to own a firearm.
  8. Yes, I agree. However, his tirade lasted far too long. I can understand that they may lose their cool occasionally, even though it goes against their training, but he had PLENTY of time to cool off an regain his composure but he didn't. He just went on and on with threats including abuse of his authority and execution. Unbelievable. This guy could easily become a menace to society and should not be allowed to own a firearm.
  9. They manufacturer their own. I'd stay away from re-manufactured ammo. My friend bought some from a different commercial re-manufacturer and I let him shoot it in one of my rifles - this was the result... The ammo was supposed to be re-manufactured using once fired military brass (it was Lake City). http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/misc/PIC_0896.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/misc/PIC_0897.jpg
  10. You weren't shooting cheapo Wolf ammo were you? That stuff is so inconsistent that sometimes it just doesn't seem to have enough power to cycle the action. If the slide doesn't come back all the way, it can't strip off the next round. Nice pistol, BTW.
  11. Wouldn't that be sweet. I don't think it will happen, though. Ron Paul just doesn't have what it takes to become a US President, IMO. His ideas (which I really like) are too far from the middle and he is not a very good speaker. He comes across as a little whiney and weak. It's too bad we don't have a candidate with his ideas and beliefs and the charisma of someone like Ronald Reagan.
  12. Are you sure it's the magazine? I don't own a Kimber, but I have a couple of friends who do and it took a few hundred rounds for the guns operate as reliably as they should. I suppose with the very tight tolerances, it takes some time for them to "wear in." ?

    Questions

Now...with that out of the way. For home protection go with the less expensive pump action shotgun. Your are likely going to fire only one shot and with a pump action, you don't have to worry about the shell not cycling the action for some reason. The pump action is more reliable, IMO. Go with a .40cal semi-auto pistol, such as a Glock 23 or a Springfield XD. Fantastic pistols for the money and extremely reliable for self-defense.
  15. Thanks. I live a couple hours North of Columbus, now so the MR2 is only around for SCCA autoX events - which I haven't been to in quite a while. I think the last OVR event that I went to was at the old Cooper Stadium site! 17. I have a 3" stainless system made by Brullen but part of a baffle has broken off inside the muffler and is rattling around. The canister has cracked a couple of times where the hanger attaches and was recently welded to get me by until I find a replacement system. I doubt you would want this one. Thanks for the offer but I'm looking for a dual exit system, anyway. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/1993%20Toyota%20MR2%20Turbo/BrullenExhaust.jpg
  18. I've been away from Columbus for many years now and was wondering if there are any local vendors that might have a Berk exhaust system for my MR2. Anyone have any suggestions?
  19. Check with Doug at Outer Limits Firearms.
  20. What I find quite interesting is that this was discovered MONTHS ago and has been pretty much kept out of main street media until this week. One outlet posts the story and then all of the others feel they have to follow.
  21. Bear spray is all you need. That stuff works and works FAST.
