  1. I'm old and I've been collecting for a few years! Also, my wife is very patient...lol. I really like the rare and unusual pieces. For me, part of the fun is finding good bargains, too, so I've only paid full market value for a handful of my firearms.
  2. Not on Red Jacket...lol. It can be yours for $3000.
  3. Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/Paratrooper/IMG_6821.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/Paratrooper/IMG_6820.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/Paratrooper/IMG_6958.jpg
  4. Here's one you don't see very often... it's a Imperial Japanese Navy pistol from 1914-1915. Only 2500 produced. "Papa Nambu" http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/PapaNambu/IMG_6900.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/PapaNambu/IMG_6899.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/PapaNambu/IMG_6894.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/PapaNambu/IMG_6893.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Japan/PapaNambu/IMG_6892.jpg
  5. In a momentary lapse of reason, I put this rifle up for auction with NO RESERVE and a $5 starting bid! Someone will get a very nice and very rare rifle. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=311314649
  6. Wow. What did the range owner say? That is a very serious issue. Something is obviously not right with the backstop/range setup. They don't have any metal target hangers that could have been hit, do they?

    The list

I've still got a couple of firearms on my "wish list", but it's unlikely that I'll be buying one anytime soon. One is the MAS .223 which is a preban semi-auto version of the FAMAS made by Giat. One just came up for auction but I'm sure the reserve is pushing $14,000 or more. Maybe some day.... <sigh>
  8. Were you able to recover any over the bullets or pieces that hit your wife and friends? Sounds extremely dangerous.
  9. The proper way to do it is with a lathe, which means the barrel needs to be removed to chuck it up and get it centered. If you are threading for a suppressor, take it or send it to ADCO. The threads need to be perfectly concentric to the bore for a suppressor. If you are just threading for a muzzle brake or flash surpressor, you will have a little more 'tolerance' for threads that are not perfectly concentric to the bore. In this case, you can often get by with using a die kit to manually cut the threads without removing the barrel. Most shops with a capable gun smith can do this. It's also an easy DIY if you have patience and some mechanical ability. The problem is the tools will cost you as much as paying someone!

    All sold
  11. G43(duv) and K43(ac), both from 1944... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/G43_duv44/IMG_5122.jpg
  12. Do you have any ammo to sell with it? For some reason the 5.7 ammo is tough to get these days, and pricey when it shows up.
  13. I often shoot at AR500 targets but never closer than 25 yds. I always hang them so that they can swing. Note that some bullets will splatter upon impact and destroy things (like metal cables, bolts, etc.) in the same 'plane' of the target face. This makes hanging the targets more challenging.
  14. Great shooting pistol but what do you guys think about the thin (vertically) slide? I find it a little harder to grip when chamber a round. There's just not much surface area compared to other semi-autos that I've used.

  16. Who says people don't need machineguns for self defense. She could have used a submachine gun for that crowd of hooligans. Couple a quick bursts would have taken care of all of those thugs for good.

  18. The problem is our President and Secretary of State, as well as a majority of others in the current adminstration agree with the UN when it comes to domestic firearms control. At the very least, if this Treaty is eventually ratified by the Senate, the import of surplus military firearms and ammunition as well as import of sporting firearms and ammunition will become very expensive. UN members pushing for this treaty want to require extensive studies and reports detailing the possible impacts in the region and neighboring regions before any firearms or ammunition could be transferred across Country borders. Imagine how much that would cost and how much time it would take to generate the reports and then have the UN bureacrats make a decision on whether it's a good idea to import some surplus ammo or fierarms. Imports will simply stop. There is a good chance we could end up with a national gun registry so that firearms could be properly tracked and accounted for. This way they can tax gun owners for each firearm they own to generate enough revenue to pay for the new systems and costs associated with regulations like this. Big Government. What can you do? Send an email to your Senators and let them know how you feel about a treaty like this. The Senate will have to have a 2/3rds majority vote to ratify the Treaty once it's signed by Obama.
  19. How about this for a "no budget" option... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=289143457
  20. LMT certainly has a good reputation for quality.
  21. It is interesting. I'm a little surprised that a top tier manufacturer would be using MIM parts. ? I had an MIM take down lever in my DSA built Stg58 and it snapped in two after about 100 rounds! You'd never see that happen with one of the military surplus parts that were machined out of a block of forged steel. MIM piece... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/stg58/framebodyleverc.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/stg58/framebodylevera.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/stg58/IMG_0561.jpg
