  1. Me and my buddies from work used to have epic LAN parties with AoE and Empire Earth II. Those were the days. That genre kinda peaked around 2002. The closest thing today is all the pay-to-win mobile games. Sux.
  2. The guy in the link above has them for $100 picked up. So, I may go that route. Maybe blast it and epoxy it.
  3. I emailed that craigslist guy. I'm in the akron/canton area all the time...that is where I'm from. Also...someone mentioned aftermarket parts...I did a search and found a couple of tubular replacements. they look pricey but I'll explore that too.
  4. It is the front subframe that everything connects to...not the crossmember the motor mounts bolt to. It is a large U-shaped piece of formed steel that goes from the unibody behind the front wheels near the jack point all the way around under the rad. I would attempt a repair but it is really rotten and looks like the points where everything bolts onto it are very precisely positioned. looks like this... https://www.flickr.com/photos/harmonda/shares/rPY108
  5. I noticed a lot of decay on the passenger side when I did a brake job this summer. However, I have the motor out for a rebuild right now and it would be a perfect time to swap the subframe...less weight in car and clear access. Anyone know where I could find a solid used subframe reasonably close by? Anyone parting out an 02-07 subie? Everything I find online is either on the east coast or Canada and the shipping nearly doubles the cost. It has to be replaced as it is almost completely rotted through. I haven't been able to find any repair sections you could weld in. It is the same part from 02-07, btw.
  6. My detached building is fully insulated and has a natural gas wall heater like this...https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200664873_200664873 It works really well. I have a torpedo heater I've used for years and I still fire it up for quick tasks.
  7. you still have this? I specifically need a black dishwasher for my rental property.
  8. reluctantly just ordered a pair of 6v lucas coils. Gotta get back on the road.
  9. I've run through all the how-tos I could find on the interwebs. The coils are in series. I don't know if they are 12 or 6. But it ran fine with the Boyer unit for years. One day I rode to the end of my driveway and it just stalled there. Never started again until I swapped the ignition.
  10. I'm throwing in the towel on the ignition issues I'm having with my 72 Triumph Tiger. It came with a Boyer Bransden on it. It failed and I replaced it with a Pazon. I got it running poorly then not at all again. I've spent waaaay too much time on it. I'm at the point where I just want to have an expert get it right. The DIY is no longer fun on this one. I have plenty of projects. I just want to get back to riding. Can anyone recommend a shop or individual with experience on these? Local preferably. It has to be someone with positive-ground british twin experience. Nothing is normal about these things.
  11. I'm looking at ROTR tix. The listings all list rows like G38 or G44 in stadium GA and rows G4, g5, etc in field GA. Seat numbers aren't always listed and are all over the place up to like 450. WTF? I can't find any chart showing where that is. Anyone have experience and can shed some light on this? I'm will to pay the crazy $ people are asking but not for an unknown. Ya know?
  12. :dumb: oh...uh...came in here expecting something else entirely.
  13. that's not how math works. but, we get it.
  14. Check this out fellas... http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/5811802693.html
  15. Almost forgot...went to Ypsilanti...think Delaware without any newer development. Went to Cultivate Coffee and Tap House...coffee shop with a wall of taps and a huge beer garden. Would be an ideal cruise destination or meet-up spot if people were headed to the area as a group. So, file that one away.
  16. I was up there over the weekend. My wife had training and I had vaca time to spend or lose it. So, we made it a long weekend. We went to a really cool place called Mudgies for brunch the first day. It is downtown and in a bleak area by the bus station. But the food was creative and the place has an awesome vibe, locally-sourced products. We drove around downtown. The business areas seem a little better than the last time I was there. (say 2000). Major blight surrounds it, of course. Street after street of nature taking back over blocks and houses. Kinda awe-inspiring in a way. We drove up Jefferson. The switch-over to Grosse Point Shores is more pronounced than I remember. Nautical Mile has some up and coming spots. We hit a coffee shop/greek food joint that was worth the stop. We passed on a car/boat show/concert mini-festival we had read about called Bootleggers because it was all indoors in a big warehouse and it was beautiful out. Plus it was $40 at the door. So we decided to find a hotel then go out. We ended up in Birmingham...which, by the way, is the big money suburb. Lots of awesome shopping and local food joints. Well, that and more exotic and luxury cars than 10 New Albany's. Holy crap. Anyway...HIE there was a decent hotel and we ran every day around the neighborhood right there...very pleasant. Ate at a place called Toast that was very good. Had a late dinner at Market North End...which is beyond good. Great food...super cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Birmingham has a town center with lots of walkable streets and very high-end shopping. Like a larger and real Easton. Wandered up and down Woodward. Visited Plymouth...it's OK...think BIG version of downtown Worthington. Too many old people though. Blue hair city for some reason. Spent a little time exploring a very large section of town with a middle-eastern ethic slant north of the airport. I wasn't brave enough to try a food joint there but I should have. I did the Rouge tour. I've done The Henry Ford before and want to again but with the kids. Let's see...I headed out one day to find British Only...which is a brit-bike parts place...just to stop in and check it out since I order parts from them on occasion. But I got distracted. Oh...and Detroit is the city of the U-turn. WTF people? I guess that comes with the territory when every other road is a boulevard.
  17. Ya. So I guess the shop was chasing fueling problems around. I've looked over the fuel system diagram and there are return lines going back to the fuel tank. I'm wondering if disconnecting those was part of the problem. Here's my theory...so if the tank isn't venting properly...or it is obstructed somehow or too small...it wouldn't idle but may run because the pump is pulling harder...then it surges as it overcomes the vacuum then it builds up again. I am going to get in there and see if I can't disconnect the air return line directly from the tank. I don't have the instructions for the weber conversion kit...I'm need to get my hands on those too.
  18. It has a weber. Lots of disconnected smog gear under the hood. I need to clean that up once I get the idle and surging issues resolved. Looks like some of the ports/hoses on the carb may not be right. one nipple is capped off with a piece of rubber and a zip tie. Another vac hose has a screw blocking it off. euw.
  19. I bought a 2002 WRX off a member here. had to sort out a few things...brakes...exhaust and AC repairs. Parts are cheap. Did all of it myself. I have about $4k all-in. I've put 5k on the odometer as a DD. Averaging about 26mpg. It's a fun drive. I'm happy.
  20. Ha...good advice. I worked on a "Dodge" Omni once...head gasket swap. The perimeter of the engine bay was spot welded and then trimmed leaving literal saw teeth all the way around. It looked like I got in a fight with a barbed wire fence when I was done.
  21. Price was right...free. Mother moved into a condo and her husband has been off-loading possessions. He loves this car so I couldn't say no. The good...he had a new timing belt installed, gas tank relined, new fuel hoses and filter, After-market carb (holley?), head gasket, battery. The tires look fairly new...I don't have a gauge. It tracks straight, takes bumps better than expected...no rattles or shakes. Seats are super comfy with that faux sheep skin. It came with a second motor and a bunch of parts he has collected over the years. Plus 2 other sets of wheels/tires. The bad list...only gauge that works is oil pressure. Won't idle. Shop that did the timing belt AND carb tried and tried and couldn't get it to idle. (WTF?) He said they wouldn't take money when he picked it up. So, at least he didn't pay for that mess. Also, I drove it about 100 miles home...and it surges off-throttle. If you get on it...it is fine. But off-throttle or going easy...it surges. Oh, and as you can see...the paint is heavily oxidized. It has sat outside at that shop for 2 years. (again, WTF?). I drove it before that and it had been stored inside and was much more shiny. Also, it was a fun drive. The original problem he took it to the shop for was it would stall unexpectedly when it warmed up and he couldn't restart it until it had sat. That led to the shop re-lining the tank because they said there was rust in it. Not sure about their abilities/experience. Anyway...I posted on the 1st gen Civic forum and got a little advice on troubleshooting. Also, borrowed a timing light. hee. This is going to be fun. I figured I post it on here since there might be some Honda guys who'd get a kick out of it. pics... 20160911_175026 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20160911_175017 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20160911_174958 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr
  22. I've had my 4-post for years and installed in 3 different garages. I don't think the locking pawls have made scrape marks as clear as yours on my ladders in all this time. I think yours need to be adjusted. If you unbolt the ladder...make sure you support the weight at that corner with a jack. Take a close look and compare the whole assembly around the pawls to the other 3. Check that cable to make sure there aren't any spurs and the blocks it passes through look the same as the others. Another thought...the posts don't have to be plumb really...doesn't matter until they are way off and the symptom resulting will not be what you you have. However, you need to make sure you are level when all 4 corners are resting on the ladders AND all 4 corners are supported by cables. The result should be that all 4 lock at almost the same time while you are lifting. I always install the ladders so that the natural curve bends TOWARDS the center of the lift. I wouldn't reverse them. Post a closer pick with the cover open of the corner in question if you have a chance.
  23. More like Alum where people raft off. No bars I've found. There is a little island on the east side connected by a sand bar that is very popular. We like that all the unlimited speed section is one big area without bridges or no-wakes. It gets busy but not Alum busy.
