I was a huge cynic of agile a few years ago. However, there are elements of agile that are fantastic improvements and give you a significant advantage. Like everything else, it depends on how you do it and what you are trying to accomplish. I ran an agile development team at JPMC and adopted some of the practices for my other teams too because I found them empowering. I brought some of that with me to my current organization. It works. The stand-ups, including your clients in your planning, set development cycles, iterative deployments, etc. etc. However, some teams see it as a way to just do what they want when they want and throw out discipline along with the rigid waterfall structure. Anyway...my 2 cents.
  2. Hopefully you got a chance to look around when you were there before and can emulate how others were dressed. For a group interview you want to leave them with an impression that you are one of them and will fit in. So, mirroring their attire is the key. You definitely don't want to overdo it for this one or you risk being viewed as a threat by any of them with advancement aspirations.

I worked there in IT for almost 20 years. Pay is above average. You definitely should try to get a 7-4 shift to make the commute better. Just getting TO 71 at 5 is a long wait. Coming up 33 in the morning will be a nightmare after say 6-6:15. So 7-4 is your best bet. In terms of work environment. In general it is way higher paced and higher stress than what I have experienced elsewhere or heard of elsewhere. Also, depending on what your aspirations are...note that no IT functions are based in Columbus anymore. So, you will likely feel like the ugly step child. Believe me...that gets old. Another negative would be that they are very, very geographically diverse. So, you may not see your coworkers on a regular basis and this can be demoralizing to some. Then again...that pay...right? Def. mo' money than the norm in Columbus.
  4. I have a Baja 272 Shooter with a 502 in it. Depth at Seneca is good. Varied from 9 to 30 foot according to my gauge. It is surrounded by hills and the dropoff at the shore is steep for an ohio lake. Water quality was better than Alum and way better than buckeye or dillan. The bottom is a fine gravel and not muddy or weedy anywhere we stopped.
  5. We have taken the boat there and we do the 10 mile trail run each spring and fall. Awesome lodge and grounds. The cabins and Cabents around the lodge look like fun. Salt Fork is the flagship state park in Ohio. The boating is decent. The lake is big but it is narrow. Lots of no-wake...as mentioned. However...to be clear...this isn't your usual no-wake. It feels like it goes on forever. Effectively it is like three small lakes linked by excruciatingly long no-wake zones. An alternative for boating is Seneca. It is about the same distance but offers pretty much unrestricted boating. There is a small island on the east side just inside a large cove where all the boats raft up and they have volleyball setup on a sand bar. FYI...if you have been wondering where all the Buckeye Lake people went this summer....Seneca. Even Buckeye Lake Marina opened up a location there. I'm surprised there isn't a Papa Boo's East. HP limit is 399 but we haven't been questioned yet.
  6. the rent won't go up due to lake coming back. I'm in this for the long haul. We plan to eventually build a new house on this lot for our retirement...won't be for like 15 or so years. In the meantime I'm just looking to cover my costs if possible. at $1000 I'm maybe losing a little. the big hit is the flood insurance they make you carry in that area. ironic huh? since the lake is down to a puddle. Taxes and insurance are almost as much as my mortgage for this property. otherwise I'd be asking less.
  7. I have for rent a 3 bed 2 bath house in Thornville, Oh. It is on a canal on Buckeye Lake on the southeast side of the lake. Once the water is back up it will include use of a boat slip. It is on a nice sized lot with mature trees. There is a large detached garage which would be perfect for projects. There is new flooring throughout. Washer and Dryer included. $1000/month and includes sewer but all other utilities are the renters expense. No Pets. Forward on if you know anyone interested. They can email me with questions if they aren't on this board... harmonda67@yahoo.com pics... 20150802_182550 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20150802_182000 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20150802_181646 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20150802_181610 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20150802_181616 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr 20150802_182930 by Dan Harmon, on Flickr
  8. Is there a way through software or otherwise to be able to turn on the backup cam whenever you want...not just when in reverse. I had this thought as I was sitting in traffic worrying about some dumb ass almost hitting me tailgating. I know it is an attention distraction concern. But, just curious.
  9. I commute from Perry county to Dublin M-W-F and Downtown T-Th. On my Dublin days I either go 70 all the way to 270 on the west side OR I jump on 270 on the east side and go south all the way around. (Look at a map...it makes sense when you realize 70 isn't straight and doesn't cut the circle in the middle like we picture it in our heads). Every once in a while I take 37 up to 161 to 270 north around to Dublin but that adds like 10 minutes. The only way I stay sane is I leave the house before 6 and leave work before 4. Next year I will be Downtown every day and that will improve life. However...it is the section of 70 from 256 to the 71 split that is the biggest problem. All you can do is hit it as early as possible. Anything after like 6:30 is maddening. Be prepared for a slow crawl surrounded by the stupidest humans you have ever come in contact with. At least I don't have to take 33 up from Lancaster...that is the most fucktarded stretch of commuting in central ohio.
  10. I have a couple small dirt bikes the kids ride around. Both need a little work for spring and it just keeps going to the bottom of my todo list. I figure someone who works on these all the time would be able to knock it out pretty quick. Save me the time/effort. One is a Yamaha TTR125LE - hard starting and won't hold idle. The other is a little Honda XR50. It needs carb work. Anybody know a good shop or individual you trust?
  11. I have a 27' boat and it is on a trailer that is too large for the boat. The neck is adjusted almost all the way back and it still doesn't sit at the end of the trailer. It makes it harder to maneuver in my drive and at the dock than it needs to be for the size of the boat. Option 1: would be to trade with someone in the opposite situation. I'd be looking at a straight-up trade and the other trailer must be in similar or better condition. Option 2: I have found a couple trailers for sale that would work but the owners don't have a boat for theirs and don't need mine as a trade. So, I would need to sell this one. Deets: It is a mid-90s trailer. Dual axle. surge brakes. recent tires. It could easily handle a 32 footer or more depending on load rating...I'll have to check it's tag when I get home to see what it is rated to. It is very beefy and solid. Bunks are in good shape. I've towed it all over Ohio with zero issues. I'll need to get $3k out of it to make a deal on another trailer. 066 by harmonda, on Flickr 059 by harmonda, on Flickr
  12. Chris Nelson from Habitat is coming out to do our inspection on a house we went into contract on over the weekend. I mentioned seeing them on here and they say they've been getting steady business from this forum. I'll post up my feedback after I get their report.
  13. So, you weren't looking for advice. OK, fine. Excuse me. So...why didn't you just look at the Ohio revised code? It is all online and no one bothers you with their pesky advice.
  14. This is exactly what I was taught too. I find it interesting the attitudes here. I think it must be a maturity thing. If you go through life only concerned with what "you have to do" versus what is best to do you are going to have a bad time at some point. Oh crap...I've become my dad.
  15. Definitely inform them up front that you have a license and if you are carrying. If you are not...you still need to tell them. Because they will pull it up and instantly be on guard if you haven't been up front. Ya don't want to spook LEO. Watch North Woods Law and see how cool those rangers are when people are straight with them from the start versus people who are not. Vastly different treatment. Rangers deal mostly with weapons related issues so...it is even more important how you behave with them regarding your firearm and status.
  16. ain't even mad...that is amazing...seriously...that kind of regularity. What kind of regimen must he follow to be able to do that so many days in a row?

I agree with the idea of going out with friends first and seeing what you like/don't like. You really should experience the launching/pulling out and maybe a taste of maintenance before making the investment. Also...think carefully about when you will be boating. In this climate we have a lot of hobbies and obligations that compete for the good weather days. A boat is a lot of financial and time commitment. All that being said...if you do join the boating community...welcome aboard.
  18. get the casting number off it and go here.... http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
  19. I got Plantronics BackBeat Go 2s for xmas from my spousal unit. They came with a pouch with a battery pack built-in. Sound is good, battery life is OK, but where they really shine is in isolating you from outside noise. So much so that people have to tap me or get in my view to get my attention. Definitely not good for driving, running, etc. No idea what she paid but I've seen them online for around 60 bucks.
  20. My first car...looked exactly like the one in the pic below...dad picked it up at auction when I was 15 and I had to wait for it. I beat that poor car to death on country roads. I also learned a lot working on that 351 Windsor. torino by harmonda, on Flickr
  21. Whoa! Harsh. I love it. Don't let the apologists win my friend. Respect. Personally, I reject the concept of being able to "vacate" wins. The past is the past. Results can't be changed.
