  1. Inspect the radiator fins for debris/leaks. You might also want to pressurize the system to see if there is any leakage coming from the rad/hoses. I wouldn't start replacing parts until you diagnose the source of a leak (if there is one). I got a pressurizer you can borrow (im right across the river) or you can rent one at Advanced on riverside. As I eluded to earlier a bad radiator cap will often fail to hold pressure on the coolant system. Pressurization of the coolant is what keeps it from overheating....
  2. Right on. I've pictured that same scenario in my head numerous times, and i'd choose maintaining my lane and letting another vehicle hit me over swerving and crashing into a guard-rail (or another car / semi) anyday.
  3. NO offense intended, but you might want to look into taking some defensive driving courses. I've been in more "near-misses" then I care to count. Often times the only reason I avoided a serious accident was due to the fact that I drove defensively and anticipated the other drivers intentions/reactions and reacted accordingly. Shit I remember onetime a buddy of mine was driving and went to merge without checking his blindspot - Thankfully I saw the car and yanked the steering wheel back into the his lane of travel, maintained control until he slowed down and grabbed the wheel - talk about some scary shit!

    GNX

Beat me to it. Seen that one in person, bad-fkn-ass. As I understand it was untitled and evidently Jay Leno had shown great interest in buying it.
  5. Was he cited? I have nightmares about fixing up my Sc only to have some idiot total it - when it comes to my cars I tend to get very protective :bangbang:. *thinks about adding un-insured motorist coverage to my policy*
  6. I'd run to NAPA and get one of those kits that detect exhaust gasses in the coolant and pick up a radiator/expansion tank cap as well. If your running standard conventional oil it's lubricating properties have likely been severally degraded by the excessive temperatures, i'd change it out just to be on the safe side. Intermittent overheating issues usually are head gasket-related. From experience when a tensioner goes, it goes! Thoughts?
  7. Don't necc. have a problem with undercover vice cops or w/e. But down in Fl. you have undercover beat cops driving around everywhere...Shady as hell. Like you will be driving down the street and all of a sudden get pulled over by a cop in a beatup '95 Ford Aerostar, I mean how sketchy is that shit?
  8. Yea, it's some of the nastiest shit you've ever drank in your life...it seriously makes you sick.
  9. Forgot about that one, nothing like tap water that is reconstituted from sewage...Mmmmhmmm buddy.
  10. And its nazi-ass undercover cops (which are EVERYWHARE!)..Hate the south. I'll take the cold dry air over that 95 degree 100% humidity crap anyday.
  11. http://captionsearch.com/pix/t1gb4klq3.jpg And you remind me of boxxy...j/s
  12. I'd replace the radiator cap and check all the coolant hoses for flow (as well as the purge-line). Head gasket issues can manifest themselves in different ways depending on the engine. Sometimes the issue will be intermittent until the gasket really starts to go, other times it will go all at once. Sometimes the coolant will leak right into the crankcase, then on other engines it will leak into the combustion chamber and get sucked out with the exhaust gasses. Interesting thoughts on the carbon build-up issues tho...Be interested to see what other people have to say on that one. Personally i've always ran my cars balls-to-the-wall every month or so (if not every day) to purge excess carbon...All of them ran like new, even with 150,000+ miles.
  13. +1 Was rather upset to see you banned, you give this board much-needed comic relief...the screen-saver post was classic...

  15. no, he needs to "part away from the car" lol. Why anyone would put 25k into an ugly-ass evo is beyond me:confused:
  16. well no shit....been at least what, 7 years since I was out there.. Sad, used to be a good shop (under A-Trans-Masters).
  17. Whom ever you take it to make sure they are ATRA certified. I've had good luck out at A-trans-Masters out on the east side (looks like they've changed names) http://www.a-teamtransmissions.com/
  18. lol very true, I have a bad habit of staying brand-loyal.
  19. thanks for the offers but if im going to buy one i'd like to get a manufacturers warranty with it. Probably going to get a craftsman as bascially all my other tools are from sears.
  20. I believe in the city of columbus an officer has to review the photo, then issue a citation based on the evidence. I ran the one on Henderson about a year ago - wasn't that late going through the light and there wasn't any traffic (like period) but the the camera still went off...Never got a ticket.
  21. Looking into getting an air compressor for strut/suspension work. Anyone have any preferences? Are some louder then others? (noise is going to be a big concern).
