Most drivers will be included with the original install. However you often times need to upgrade to the newest versions of said drivers to maximize system efficiency (I know, I sound like a tech-fag). And yuh, the entire re-installation process for XP takes an ungodly amount of time but is often well-worth it.
-
Yea - transfer all your important documents to a thumb drive, (make sure they're accessible/readable) then restart your computer and boot from the windows XP install disk (I don't think a restore disk is an install disk, you probably need to borrow your neighbors, could be wrong tho). Make sure you choose the "delete the prior installation" option then select "reformat". And you will need to re-install every program/driver you currently have installed (-what already comes with windows) - A PITFA but well worth it for performance purposes.
-
Yup, easy as that. Make sure you "ground" your hands to a piece of metal before you touch anything inside the case - static electricity can fry Memory/Motherboards.
-
tried to re-add your sig. but can't find it anymore - that comment made me lol.
-
Those are DDR2, which wont work with DDR (been there done that). Unfortunately DDR is ancient technology and is no longer in demand. Low demand = higher price. I'd hit microcenter and see if you can get a deal on some 1gb sticks - I think there's a few guys on here that work there? maybe they can hook you up?
-
you'll need two 1gb ddr Memory sticks. While your system can support up to 3gb you only have two memory slots that support 1gb/each.
-
yea you can support up to 3gb of RAM. WOW - you should notice a HUGE difference going from 504 to 3gb lol. If your going to upgrade make sure you get the right RAM - go to the "memory" tab below the motherboard settings and see if your running ddr or ddr2.

http://i55.tinypic.com/10o20ly.jpg Yea - SIW is hardcore, it shows you like everything that is running on windows.
-
Yea - you don't need to transfer any "system" files, just personal files that are important to you. Not sure about Itunes. Restoring and Re-installing windows are two different things. Restoring reconfigures windows to a previous setting which in and of itself can be problematic. Reinstalling (& Reformatting) "permanently" deletes the entire contents of your current windows install and replaces it with a fresh copy - This should be done about every year for EVERY version of windows. To be safe I always double-backup all my files when reinstalling windows (I.E. back them up on two separate thumb drives). Make sure the XP disk is an installation disk (it should be) and make sure you have the correct serial number (probably located somewhere on your comp. case) - you will need it.
-
Just like backup everything you would want to keep from your comp; music files, pr0n,pictures etc. (don't forget your bookmarks too). - I usually just copy the "My Documents" folder onto a thumb-drive. Do you still have the original install disk for XP w/the serial? Most computers nowadays have at least 1gb (1024mb) of ram - My old desktop has 2gb, Laptop has 4. I'd say at the very least you want to run 1gb (if possible). Enlarging the memory (RAM) will make webpages load much faster and you'll get overall better performance from your puter. Download/install/run SIW: http://www.gtopala.com/ (free). It will analyze your system and tell you how many memory slots you have open as well as the Max. amount of memory you can run in each slot.

Yea but today's game is 10x different then it was 5 years ago. Your average 'net user has no idea what there up against: lots of extremely intelligent people on teh innernets. As I said, I HATE mac's. There OS is confusing as fuck, replacement parts cost a fortune ( often times it's cheaper buying a new comp.), and they won't support all my godamn codecs. The only upside is the Virus issue. Personally I'd LOVE to see Mac's attacked more-often (they can be exploited too) - however it's going to be a few years before consumers realize the potential problems with Windows and switch over. Once people start switching over the playing field should level out considerably..thats my 2c at least.

Anything Malt is fucking disgusting. So what if it gets you drunk 3x as fast, the buzz is downright nasty...

I've had good browser-based RAT's (remote access trojans) slip-by both Avast and AVG: Avira and Mcafee both caught them. In all honesty AV's are basically worthless. A good hacker will encrypt a virus such that it installs undetected (even with the best AV scanners on the market). I never thought I'd say this but your best AV protection is to buy a mac (*HATES MACS*) .

I did that once back in HS, ended up getting arrested for something else anyways lol..Had a nice lil buzz going on once I got to headquarters

I doubt you pissed him off, just once you said something he knew he had to uphold the law or w/e. Do you know if they issued them tickets or just gave a warning?
-
LOL - He smelled it, he just didn't want to do anything about it. Teh Ganja is basically legal in Columbus (unless your trafficking: I.E. distribution to/from other states). Never forget a story a buddy of mine used to tell years ago. I guess he was getting booked for something downtown and they (CPD) went to pat him down: upon feeling his pipe/bag the cop quipped "I didn't just feel that did I?" and let him keep it with out searching his pockets - CPD cops kick-ass.

+1 "l33t haXors" (elite hackers) will take complete control of your computer in ways you never thought possible. Often times they will hit you with a RAT (Remote Access Trojan). Once the RAT has been planted it "calls home" to a hacker allowing him access to everything on your computer. Anytime you visit a Java/Flashed based website you run the risk of your web-browser unknowingly downloading such a Trojan. Once downloaded this Trojan can provide hackers with a direct portal into your computer and everything on it: every word you type can be automatically (and unknowingly) saved & sent to a 3rd party. Everything seen on your desktop they see (or have the ability to see). Picture someone standing over your shoulder watching everything you do on the 'net, then recording every single thing you type & view - this is what "they" do. How it's done: Most hacking involes Java/Flash-based scripts. Most of these scripts embed RAT's (Remote Administration Terminals/ Remote Access Trojans) onto your computer. The Java/Flash side is website-based: I.E. you visit a website/forum and your browser downloads malicious code that infects your computer. The vast majority of these browser-based viruses can be avoided by the use of firefox + the no-script add-on. (http://noscript.net/) Another popular way to embed a RAT is by binding it to another harmless file - such as a .pdf/.avi/.jpg/ "/.anything". When you download & open said file the Trojan will unknowingly run/install, as will the original file. Take most-anything you download off the 'net: picture files (.jpg's), videos(.avi's) music files (.mp3's) - all of them can be infected - I actually got hit with a trojan that was binded to a factory service manual.pdf (hosted on rapidshare) a month or so ago. Hackers use programs (crypters) to encrypt viruses such that the best scanners out there won't pick up a thing. I've seen first-hand what some of these guys are doing (and the $ they are making) and trust me when I say this shit is scary. I've always been a windows fan but after the shit i've seen in the past few months i'll never buy a windows-based OS again. Not trying to sound like a bad-ass just trying to give everyone on here the heads-up...If this board wasn't local/closed I wouldn't have said a thing.

The corridor between Bethel rd and 270N(+) is a haven for "business men". While not technically located within Dublin City limits ( City of Columbus/Perry Twnshp) it is within Dublin's school district and is often labeled/referred to as such.

That's like me to a T. Almost 30 and figured I have to decide on something and that thing is going to be the Automotive industry - Should have my Automotive Tech Associates within a year, the rest of my Business degree within a year or so after that. Never could see myself in any of the other industry's I tried, just to bland and full of boring people.

X nowadays is crap. If you want an insightful adventure try tripping on 20 hits of liquid acid for a couple days straight - it will change the way you look at life, I guarantee it.

What is it with people from UA and Naples? I lived there (UA) from '89-'06 and always spent my spring breaks in Naples and ALWAYS ran into tons of other people from yupper yarlington. Guess it's some yuppie thing? And try spending a whole year down there, it's hell.

http://www.jaksta.com/ http://www.applian.com/download-videos/ In a nut shell most all audio/video content on the net is transferred/streamed through adobe flash player. These programs "intercept" the stream and allow you to save it as a video file, mp3 file, etc etc. (which can then be burned to an audio CD). Works great for youtube videos, porn () etc. - Watch out for the free versions on Demonoid, most of the ones that require some sort of .exe have viruses. If you simply want to download videos off youtube try and find a working youtube-downloader add-on for firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=youtube+downloader&cat=all&x=0&y=0). This is how I get all my music, just search for the song on youtube, click "download", then burn to a CD. Youtube is catching on though and the coders are constantly having to play catch-up. Few more Demonoid Invites if anyone needs them: acklac7Xnmityhctk7l302q66k9s05mil4or0ga0iizjl acklac7Xi3jwmo9vfovg401vvgce0kzjk6skuegs6p
