Yea it was a racist comment but it was only brought up after Phill played the race card. IMO the comment was meant to intentionally piss phill off. Im as white/yuppy as they get and i've been in Phill's position dozens of times. Piss cops off and they will usually make comments to try and piss you off, most of the time they try are trying to set you up to explode so they can arrest you for some bullshit. Most younger people take the bait and get arrested, I know I sure as hell did :bangbang: Phill you got trolled

Im pretty sure he said that just to piss you off, mainly because he knew it was what you were thinking, looks like it worked - still waiting on the recording.
-
Brah you didn't get sterotyped, copper is trained to pick up on certain behaviors, IM SURE one of said behaviors is asking for the ticket/appearing to be impatient about the stop. Do some research on the TSA and how they are trained to spot terrorists...It's all about how you act when confronted.

Here we go...Don't ask me how to figure that shit out/program it in though, my brother was the guru with scanners. All I know is Vice Tactical and Narcotics Tactical were always full of action on the weekends. http://web.archive.org/web/20061009150135/radioscanning.wox.org/Scanner/Trunk_Systems/FCCA_Publicsafety/CPD_fcca_public_safety_system.htm

Concentrate on the smaller less-elaborate sites rather then the fancy-lookin ones.

I used to know them all (or rather my brother did). As I recall there was a few small sites that had all the codes separated by zones (or something like that) - been a good 8+ years since i've messed with a scanner, i'll see if i can find them.

The droid app is probably just your standard dispatch channel. The best activity usually comes from the "black" tactical channels which are usually unlisted - those you have to find on your own with a decent scanner. Brother used to have like every tactical channel for the city/suburbs programmed-in years ago,the shit we would hear go down on weekends was nothing short of insanity.

and in case you missed it here's how you should have acted - this dudes obviously a pro.

I think this was already posted but he probably became suspicious when you asked for the ticket, he likely thought you were trying to hide something else that was in the car. Cops are trained to look out for certain behaviors, im sure asking for a ticket/appearing eager to leave the scene is one of them.

WAY back in the day (8th grade). Not like recent, isn't he still locked up for armed robbery or someshit?

I was a bad kid (literally had the entire UA police force on my ass for years - them cops have nothing better to do then arrest little hellions like me ) I've never been arrested as an adult. (11 years)

Case in point I was toying around in an Un-Named suburb a few months back, spunout and pitted my Lex (with perfection) up on an embankment. Had been drinking/smoking a lil (wasn't drunk by any means) and didn't have my AAA card on me. Ran home to get it, and sure as shit by the time I got headed back to the car cops were all over with spotlights trying to find me. Unfortunately the Sargent spotted me first and immediately started-in with the dick cop attitude "hands on your head" bla bla bla. Searched me, put me in the back of the car, took me back to the scene. He knew I'd been drinking, asked me how much I had to drink, I told him, asked him if he was going to charge me with fleeing the scene since I had just ran back to the house to get my AAA card, he said "that and probably a whole lot more" I just sighed and kept my mouth shut. After a few minutes he turned me over to a younger officer (about my age - 29) who was first on the scene. I chatted him up, explained to him what had gone on and why I left, and how I came to pit my car (lied - but was thoroughly convincing). Just all-in-all being chill with him and fully cooperative. Wound up getting a ticket for failure to control and that was it. They could have EASILY hit me with Fleeing the Scene/OMVI (didn't even run a sobriety test)/No front Plates but just left it at Failure to control.

After being arrested 2, maybe 3 dozen times I can tell you that pulling the rights shit/coping an attitude rarely works. Yea you can do it, but shit it usually doesn't get you very far (unless you look like you got some serious $, and even then). Act professional with them and they usually will act it back. If they don't just keep acting professional with them, and be careful not to make any guilty/conflicting statements. Usually works.
-
And all you guys bitching about Law Enforcement in OH need to spend a year or two down south, talk about crooked cops and LEO's being above the law. The shit I saw cops get away with down there was absurd, 1/2 the reason I moved back up north.
-
Truth. You can be arrested just about anything as long as they (cops) have a reasonable suspicion you committed a crime - that reasonable suspicion can be just about anything (in a pinch they will usually provoke you into mouthing off so they can get you on "failure to obey a lawful order" or "resisting an officer").

how phill should have acted:

Agreed, but the same thing goes for being an asshole to a cop because he is a cop. Find the middleground and you usually win.
-
Seen that, good shit, although applying his logic to traffic stops is meh...
-
The stories of Police Misconduct I could tell would make your head spin...Shit happens, IMO bitching about it isn't going to make it any better. I've learned to accept the fact that there are always going to be asshole cops, cops that abuse power, cops that are out to use there authoritah etc. Then there are going to be your cops that are there to serve and protect, get cats out of trees etc. Treat them all with respect and usually you will get treated the same way back.
-
When was the last time you watched an episode of cops? you have any idea what they put up with on a day-to-day basis? Not trying to make excuses for them but I can't fault them a bit for being a little assholeish at times, which is the main reason I always treat them w/respect even if im not initially given it, seems to work.

Got me out of 80 in a 55 in Washington where they will write you for +6mph any day of the week (no income taxes). Only other thing I did was admit that I was speeding and politely explain why (straight road, no other cars, middle of nowhere). Also took the keys out of the ignition and put them in right up on top of the dash.
-
usually they try it, then cover it up. Everytime i've mouthed off to a cop, or even tried to "argue" with them (whether it be about "rights", rules, etc) I lost. Every time i've treated them like Business men i've wound up either getting let-go with a warning or a ticket for some petty shit.
-
May have worked for some of you but usually the whole "rights" speal backfires. From years of experience (don't ask) I can attest this to be the gospel. I've gotten out of numerous sticky situations by playing things cool and treating cops as businessmen, even though they were clearly trying to piss me off.
