  1. WOW! Wonder what kind of impact that will have on the Australian V8 Supercar series. They are predominately Holden i believe.

Mercedes and Nissan joined the series this past year along with Ford who's been there for quite some time. Not sure if the writing was on the wall before that happened or not but it will still be a 3 make series even without Holden.

True, but Holden vs Ford in V8 is like Ferarri vs Mercedes in F1.....the rivalry has been there for years, and it will be weird without them in the series anymore. Whincup and Lowndes will surely find a good drive once they've gone.....

  2. my cost on a NEW factory wheel is $334.16 + core, that maybe why AoC was so high, search http://www.car-parts.com see what they have,as far as having the wheel repaired I think that's all based on how bad it is(that link I posted earlier has pricing), as far as trusting the repair again that depends on how badly bent it is, I've seen some wheels that were bent badly but come back looking new, I don't trust their balance methods based on how/where they place the wheel weights.

    OK, thanks for the advice.

  3. Well, I stopped at Home Depot on my lunch and they have the 12" Dewalt on sale for $179 right now! So I picked it up.

Curious why the 12" would be so much less that the 10"???

Am I missing something, or just found a really good deal?

All the features are the same between the two, except bigger blade and bigger cross-cuts and fence cuts.

  4. Damn, why am I just now seeing this thread? I work at Lindsay Acura, I've been there going on 18 years(Acura Master Tech). If you have any questions about your MDX let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I can't speak much about Acura of Columbus except that a lot of their customers find their way over to us.

few things I'm sure you already know by now:

    1. the VSA light will come on if the steering wheel is off center

    2. 99.9% of the time the lower control arm will be the issue when camber/caster is out, the only adjustable item on Acura cars is the Toe.

    3. the shop that offered to elongate the holes shouldn't be in business, worst advice ever.

    4. since the wheel got bent chances are the hub/bearing is bad too, like AoC stated. Now depending on the wheel damage it can be fixed, we use wheel medic quite often: http://www.theroundhouse.ws/

Cool, thanks for chiming in, everything you said makes total sense. You wouldn't happen to know where I can buy just one of these wheels do you?

Not sure about straightening the wheel, any idea on cost? And would you trust a previously bent wheel that was was straightened, or just buy a used 'good' one?

  5. UPDATE:

Acura of Columbus found the following needing replaced:

    Right front lower control arm

    Hub and bearing

    (Bent) Wheel

They wanted and astronomical amount of money for labor, so I am taking it to ZB and Todd at Sigmatec to do the work, and I am sourcing a new wheel myself, since Acura wanted $550 for a new wheel.

Car should be done Friday, hopefully this does the trick.

  6. Does anyone know of any auto washes that spray the underside of the car? The drive thru car wash on Sandusky in Delaware had a very high pressure under-car sprayer that I loved using in the winter to get ice and salt cleaned out with hot water. Kept me from having to get out and on my knees with a sprayer. No pun intended.

The Kroger/Turkey Hill wash is really good at Rt. 3 and Polaris/Maxtown. The attendant will scrub your front/wheels/rear bumper before you go into tunnel and it does a good underbody wash.

  7. Looking at 3 different saws for Home use. I borrowed a friends saw for framing in a basement, but the drywall is done now and looking to buy a saw for all the trim work and then as a general saw for around the house, etc.

I'm leaning towards the Dewalt, but wondering if anyone owns one of these or has any feedback? Thanks!

3rd place was the Hitachi 10" for $109, but I'm leaning towards the Dewalt......

    Any thoughts on these?

    THANKS!

  8. If the car was brought to our dealership we would sell the majority of the front suspension to insurance. Especially if you can't see what's bent. Ends up saving time and money because you are only r&r'ing parts once and only doing one alignment. I would think most shops would do this knowing you are going through insurance.

We are not going through insurance....yet. Have a $500 deductible, so I'm going to see what they come back with. I'm having trouble following what you're saying.....? ^^ (What dealership do you work at?)

Wife and I drove the car to Acura Columbus yesterday to drop it off. I live in Westerville and we took Powell road to Riverside to 161 to drop it off so I wouldn't have to drive on the expressway....yea, it's that bad, but still 'driveable'.

Went in the this morning at 745 to get it checked in, and then they will let me know what they find. I'll keep you posted on this wonderful adventure as soon as I have fun.......:fuuuu:

  9. Well, I talked to a couple of family friends that work/own body shops(and read your posts). They said that newer cars typically have suspension parts now that will bend and break before the actual body does. So they said that, more than likely, a suspension piece is bent and I just need to determine which one.

So we just picked the car up yesterday(no cutting was done) and will be taking it to Acura of Columbus to have them find which piece is bent so either they or I can replace it.

Anyone have an qualms with Acura of Columbus Service?

I'm kind of out of options at this point. I just want someone who KNOWS the MDX and can recognize what is wrong and tell me what needs fixed, no guess.

  10. Well......something is bent, but it's nothing obvious like the tie rod assembly or control arm. The front passenger side has an extra 1.5 degrees of positive camber right now and the only way they can fix it is by elongating the holes to put the camber back to where is should be.

Anyone see a huge red flag of why we shouldn't do this? I'm wondering if its the spindle or the actual shock tower that may be bent.

Guy said I would need to take it to a body shop to put it on a 'frame rack' to see what is actually bent.....can anyone chime on on this? They need an answer from me in the next hour or so.

Thanks again for everyones help so far!

  11. My wife slid her 09 MDX into a curb last night and knocked the car out of alignment and now the VSA light keeps turning on. I jacked it up and checked it last night and didn't see anything bent, but when you drive down the road straight the steering wheel is crooked.

All the Acura and Honda dealerships can't get the car in today.

Anyone recommend a place that is open TODAY to look at and work on the car. She is traveling next week for work and we need the car in working order....

    Any recommendations????

    TIA!
