  1. First, I would join this forum and start lurking. ALOT of good info, and a lot of smart dudes on here.

This is a good youtube channel

    http://www.youtube.com/user/autogeek

Check under the playlists, there are great categories. I have been watching these videos for the past 2 weeks, and have learned a TON. Also 'like' the 'autogeek' and 'detailed image' Facebook pages.

This is a good read too:

Here is a good playlist for learning on a DA (specifically the PC 7424XP- which is what I got)

    Enjoy!

  2. Alright, we're back in business and I plan to compound polish, fine polish, sealant, and wax the paint on my wife's car this weekend......

  3. Yup, I'm already bored. Winter time sucks.

For now I'm just going to leave the Miata alone. It is such a blast the way it is.

This one is hung up around the house, having my family be so supportive is awesome.

    http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp133/ND2RACE/Miata%20Autocross/DSC08722b.jpg

    1) Yes, can't wait for the off season to end even though it just started

    2) The saying is 'run what you brung' and this thread is the epitomy of just that....I've seen guys go from Corvette's Evo X's and other high horsepower cars over to a modified Miata, and still have a blast on an even smaller budget. I razz my friends about their Miata's from time to time, but that is exactly the reason why I can...they're your friend's and if you can't bust their balls about something, then what's the point :dumb: I still have yet to drive a Miata in anger, but I plan to sometime in the future

    3) Having a supportive wife, family, et al is HUGE!!! My son was born on May 31 of 2011 smack dab at the beginning of autocross season, and being how awesome my wife is, I have been able to not miss one event over the past two years. I have even been the Co-Solo Chair this past year and the year coming up.....soon as my son is old enough, he will be out there riding around with me, and if I can convince the wife, we may be looking at Kart in 3-4 years (**fingers crossed**)

Glad to see some passion about motorsports, and hope to see you at some SCCA events next season with Jones #AudiLOL

    Great pic btw

  4. We had our reception at the Crowne Plaza downtown. It was great because we had about 60% of our guests coming from out of town and had a good rate with a block of rooms, this cut down a town on the change of people drinking and driving since we had an open bar. They have a couple nice rooms for a reception and a huge bar downstairs in the lobby for people staying in the hotel.
  5. If Pikes Peak lets them back again, they are crazy.

Why? ^^ I think that is fantastic that they are going to come back the year after and finish the climb. Bravo to the both of them :fuckyeah:

man thats nuts, i bet whoever built that cage feels pretty good about themselves...

Actually, quite a few people tried to criticize their cage build, saying it 'buckled' in some of the wrong places.......but I agree, they were able to live another day, so props to the cage builder....

We use nothing but Recaro in all of our racecars........can't skimp when it comes to safety

  6. Well, after many discussions and much help from Kyle (M0nk3y), I went ahead and pulled the trigger this past weekend on a new Random Orbital and a whole slew of new products to detail the fleet. They are set to be delivered tomorrow. I ordered everything from detailedimage.com.

I have been detailing cars since I could drive, so I know a few of the 'tricks of the trade'. My dad has a DA Orbital too, so I do have some experience using one, but am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. I joined the Autogeek forum too, and have been studying threads and YouTube videos this past week. It's supposed to rain this weekend, but it's supposed to be in the 60's so i'm hoping to set-up shop in my garage with the worklight and get a car or two done.

I have 2 black BMW's (with some NASTY swirling in the paint) and we just got my wife a 2009 Acura MDX that is in need of some major paint correction (swirls, dull paint, surface scratches, etc).

I will be doing before and after shots here, and hopefully I will become much better at this trade.

Feel free to chime in with any helpful advice :bigthumb:

Hopefully we can all learn something.

Can't wait to try this stuff out this weekend

  7. I typically park in the back of parking lot, or at least 7-8 spaces away from the nearest car to the store. The little extra exercise is always better than the anxiety I get from wondering if some dumb mother fucker is going to ding my door :D
