  1. So Thompson's got back to me and said the DMD board needs replaced and it's going to be $413 to get it fixed......does anyone know if this is an easy fix that I can do? I researched the part and it seems to be in the $150 range, so I'm paying a heck of a lot for labor.

If I replace this part am I just delaying the inevitable, like putting a new motor in a 200k mile body??

    Can anyone help with this?

    TIA

  2. Lowepro Slingshot AW200....AW stands for 'all weather' because it has a rain jacket that is attached to the bag that covers it and repels the rain. I've taken mine to many Formula 1 and other races (Mid-Ohio this past weekend) and it works great. You can wear it, and then 'sling' it around in front of you for easy access to the pocket.

They make a couple other ones that are larger too, if you think this is too small.

Would reccommend this 100 times over.

  3. Thanks all......keep in mind this TV is nearly 5 years old, and a 42" 5 years ago was not cheap.....I will NOT replace with another 42" ......we're going bigger :D

I'll at least pay for the trip charge to have them come out and give me an estimate, if it's something easy then I fix it and move on.....if it's too expensive, I start shopping :masturboy:

  4. I have only a few things to offer. Firstly, I have the 50" version of that tv, and I had the bulb, color wheel, and "light engine" I believe replaced for free during the warranty period for a hazy/dark spot. My buddy had the 55" version, and he had an issue with some sensor on the door on the rear for the bulb not recognizing that it was closed. You can kinda think of his issue as a check engine light for your gas cap being loose. Just something else to check.

I like the analogy, but the sensor has been checked, that is fine. I am noticing that for the few minutes that I can get the TV on, I am getting some 'ghosting' of white lines that are faintly flashing across the screen in random places....is this leaning more towards a color wheel?? Also, would the color wheel be turning off the TV like it's doing?? From what I've read on the internet, most people who have a problem with the color wheel are just having issues with the picture and it doesn't turn off....??

  5. I have the exact same TV. Doing the exact same thing. I changed the bulb and no difference.

Here are a few things I learned from searching the web:

There was also a problem with this TV where the switch that triggers when you close the access to the bulb (make sure its getting triggered properly), or do what I did and just cut, splice, and twist the wires together so you don't have to worry about the switch being the problem.

I still have the same issue. already checked the fan for dust. It was good. also tested the temp sensor, it was good. the only thing left is the color wheel, or the likely chance it was the ballast.

I went ahead and bought a 55" LED, but still have the TV with hopes of fixing it some day. My next thing is to get a ballast. Please post back if you figure something out!

    :dumb:

Well thanks for posting the steps you took already.....shit! I didn't really want to buy a new TV. I'm probably going to have a repair place come take a look at it, i'll get an estimate for a repair and weigh my options from there. Thanks again!

  6. does it randomly click when you try and turn it on?

makes all the same sounds that it has in the past, so no, no 'random' clicks, but it does click when I turn it on like usual....I have picture and sound for 5 minutes, and then it goes out each time. I keep turning the thing on and it keeps doing that over and over, no decreased picture quality or anything

  7. Did you check the cooling fan for the bulb? If it's bad or clogged with dust, the bulb won't cool properly and trip the thermal protection circuit.

    ok, thanks I'll check......

fan works, and it's not that dusty....should I hit it with some compressed air, or will that potentially damage something?

  8. I have a Samsung DLP TV HL-S4266W, and it was pointing to all the signs of the lamp being bad (I haven't replaced since I bought the TV about 4 years ago). Well, I got the lamp assembly today, installed it EXACTLY like the Samsung website said to, and it turns off after 5 minutes and all three lights flash on the power button, just like it did before I switched lamp assembly.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm stuck!

  9. A drunk is at a bar getting ready to leave, when he throws-up all over his shirt

drunk: Aw man, I jusht puked all over my good shhirt. My wife's gonna be pissed!

bartender: Calm down, pal, here's what you do: go home, give your wife $20 and tell her some idiot threw up on you and decided to pay to clean your shirt.

    drunk: W-wow that's a great idea!

The drunk gets home and walks in the door

Wife: About time you stumbled in! Look at your shirt you sloppy drunk - I hope you're happy!

Drunk: Now w-wait a shecond, some guy puked all over my shhirt as I was leavin' the bar, and he gave me $20 to clean it - here! he give her the money

    Wife: Wait a second, there's $40 here!

Drunk: Oh, he shit in my pants, too.

  10. You came out of T10 and didn't track out. You should almost have 2 wheels off when you turn into T11. I pretty much drive a stright line out from the apex of 10, you were pinching in and you didn't set the front end in with the brake/scrub.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it......

Looks good, but that camera angle is tough to read. Try mounting it so the angle is perpendicular to the road. I have spun there too, well just after the crest. Your tires were screaming at you! What were you running?

At the end of thunder valley going through that 2nd fastest turn on the track, you hit it great, but try tracking out to the right all the way over next time.

    Check out mine at 2:45

This was last year I think with crappy tires.

I have an extension so I can mount it to the inside back window and I forgot it that morning, so I had to make due with what I had......I really wanted a view out the front of the car too, trust me.....I bought some Hankook Evo V12's and they are pretty much at full tread, so they were screaming for mercy.....I'm used to running Hoosier A6's for autocross, so I may try the R6's next time.....

Kale, I think something important you left out was that this was your first time ever doing a track day. You really did well out there and showed enough to your instructor to get moved up a run group on your very first day. I know you auto-x regularly which helps but you really did very well out there.

Couple general observations. You seem a little worked up at points ESP right before the spin. Deep breath on each straight along with a finger stretch on the wheel will force you to think about relaxing. You can see your inputs get more abrupt and your shoulders even coming forward. It's exciting stuff out there you just need reminders to relax and have fun a couple times per lap

    Technical stuff:

    You're solid up to t7

Use all the road on exit of turn 7 and stay out there. 8 is a throw away turn so maximize all the speed you can get out of 7 and you'll get quite a run up the inside of 8

T8 need to be up on the inside curb and be there early. Need to be on the power and unwinding the wheel and tracking out before you get over the top of the hill. Track out at least half way there. Your pinching the exit costing speed and you'll eventually risk spinning if you keep that much input on the wheel

T9 is good try to use the inside curb to rotate the car this is the one place it's ok to not use all the road on exit. You should be able to be full throttle from here until the entry for t11

10b. Don't use that inside curb. You want to be about a half lane wide of the apex curbing here as it gives you a straight shot to the turn in point for 11. There's a faint black box on the road here you want to straggle coming down the hill.

I'm going to disagree with other comments on the entry to t11. Mid Ohio school specifically preaches to stay off that outside curb. It upsets the car too much if your near the limit

T12. Again use all the road on exit. There's dirt past the exit curb that is the real end of track out. No need to go back left for the entry to 13

...but all of this will come in time. If you ask me you killed it out there for it being your first time

Thanks for the constructive critisism.....yeah I was defeintely not as relaxed as I should be.....I was pretty shook up that day from seeing that wreck in front of me, so I think I was second guessing each turn.....that spin didn't help much

I look forward to many more in the future......
