You're in the ballgame so far parts wise, labor wise if its just sliding a small cam in and reusing your existing lifters book time calls for between 12-14 hours. Just an FYI

Yeah... the curse of my "So Called Life"
-
Is that leasable in the price category? Once I get back from Tennessee we'll be doing some tire kicking first part of next week so any options we can get on the menu this week make the process better.
-
Honestly I'll probably be there off and on all weekend. Still trying to figure out which ladies will be available which day, which is more than a little like herding cats. But I'll likely be there a LOT.
-
I'll be there with the G Club folks and traveling with my typical gaggle of girls

I agree with both of you, this was WAY longer than I had expected it to be! Unfortunately having to spread the "pull out" over 3 days it made that portion considerably longer. Once it was out, I didn't feel like the drive over/machine shop talk would work as a stand alone episode. Maybe I'm wrong there? I'm going to try to cut these down to 10-11 minutes going forward now that the major chunks are done. Is it easier to watch the Time Lapse parts with music and voice over?
-
Part 2 is up, man cutting all this together and trying not to sound like a complete mouth breather is tough! Let me know what you guys thing, always appreciate the feedback.

Always interesting to get "Old Blood" back in here who remember the glory days of wings and shit talking, cruises and races

I absolutely LOVE the STs, I've been in several Focusessesses and Fiestas both are a blast to drive and functional for not a whole lot of money. However as a car for a mid 40s MILF it doesn't really fit the bill. Now I'll completely admit to the fact I've looked off and on for a year at getting MYSELF a FiST as a DD. The CTS-V sedan would be an outstanding car for her, unfortunately to get down into the payment range she wants it would have to be pretty far down on the used market which for such a high strung expensive vehicle is more than a LITTLE scary.

Well I'm cutting together Part 2 right now, it's going to be a bit on the longer side but I can try out a shorter format on the next one. Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it, this is certainly a learning experience for me. As for the Movie Maker text ... yeah... I know it looks like I'm editing something in Windows 98. It's a similar situation to the audio quality, I'm shooting this on a couple small chinese Go-Pros that I use for race filming cause free is GOOD. If/when things start getting a bit more popular I'll certainly be open to splurging on some upgraded equipment. On the Time-Lapse thing, is it better to have silence, hear me droning on about what's going on, or just lay some stock music track down? My thinking on even including the Time-Lapse stuff is it shows actual work being done, so it's not hey see this is easy I did it all off camera in 15 minutes! I don't want to make these instructional videos, but I DO want to show the frustrations and process. Am I wrong? Thanks for the feedback so far guys, keep it coming!

Curious if this is still sitting in your driveway or not...?
-
Thanks guys I appreciate it, this is definitely a process! Unfortunately time to work on my own projects is hard to come by so some of this is taking longer than expected but we're moving along. What I'm seeing from the YouTube analytics is most people stop watching after about 5 minutes which I need to figure out why that is. Trying to keep each of these to 15-20 minutes a piece, I figure that's about the length most of the successful videos seem to be in. As for editing... yeah... I'm just doing all this on a windows desktop in the office, nothing super fancy. If this stuff becomes something interesting to a decent size audience there's always a possibility of improving "production" down the road. Editing Part 2 right now, should have the end of it done today and possibly uploaded tonight/tomorrow.

This weekend I've got to make a trip to Tennessee to pull the Little Black Truck out of storage but otherwise there will certainly be some dealership tire kicking going on, just trying to do my homework first. Been a LONG time since I've bought anything from a dealership so this will certainly be interesting, sales people don't typically like me On the negotiation front, I absolutely agree some of these used prices make NO damn sense versus the new. I wasn't trying to come off as a smart ass Not Brian, just one of those moments of hey wait a sec this doesn't feel right? I ran into the same thing when I was hunting for a Chevy SS, the used and new are basically all the same price...and WAY too damn much! Matt, one of the things that's a bit of a curse is she has been around ME for a while so some of my muscle car focus is rubbing off on her. So rumbly V8 is kind of the flavor of this game The Mustang thing...since mine got taken I've still had a hunger for a new one, but a fully loaded GT Convertible is... umm.... 'spensive!

So, exercise here. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=453320880&zip=43064&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D43064%26startYear%3D2015%26sortBy%3Drelevance%26incremental%3Dall%26engineCodes%3D8CLDR%26firstRecord%3D25%26endYear%3D2017%26modelCodeList%3DDODCHAR%26makeCodeList%3DDODGE%26searchRadius%3D200&startYear=2015&numRecords=25&firstRecord=25&endYear=2017&modelCodeList=DODCHAR&makeCodeList=DODGE&searchRadius=200&makeCode1=DODGE&modelCode1=DODCHAR 2016 with 13k on the clock, asking price is $37,900. OR https://www.coughlinmarysvillechrysler.com/new-Marysville-2018-Dodge-+-CHARGER+RT+SCAT+PACK+RWD-2C3CDXGJ6JH126082 Which is BRAND NEW for... $38,377 asking price So wait wait... 2 years old, 13000 miles of who knows what and it's essentially the same price? Both colors are a positive for her but where's the saving in buying one that's used?
-
She's never had anything that had "all the bells and whistles" like heated seats, NAV, Bluetooth, etc etc and through her entire adult life up to this point has had to have "mom vehicles". So now is HER time to get something fun she can enjoy. Not to mention when a hot women pulls up and gets out of a rather swaggery V8 car there IS a bit of extra head turn factor. At least in red blooded 'Mericans like me!
-
There's certainly not a NEED for a fast/fun V8 DD but it's more of a desire issue at this point to really enjoy her commutes. As someone who gets to drive something fun every day it really does make your miles more enjoyable. The new car thing is very appealing for her as she's never had a new car, also you have 0 worry about damage/abuse from a previous owner. Buying a 2 year old Mustang GT... you might find one that was a garage queen or you might find one that's clean and polished but lived its life a 1/4 mile at a time.
-
I would REALLY like for there to be some other options in this category and I'm getting a bid depressed that there AREN'T. How is this a situation of there's Option A and... Option A? Someone please find an Option B!
-
Yeah this is for her DD, the Miata will be her fair weather/track car. And yes I agree, the Scat Pack is a little extreme for what she "needs" how much cooler is it for $30 more per month on a lease? She MIGHT put 8,000 miles a year on it so even the additional fuel usage won't be that big a deal. I'll absolutely agree there's a bit of a stigma on these cars, and I will personally fess up to a little bit of an anti-MOPAR bias but on the smiles per dollar.. Also, very very hard to believe that neither Ford nor Chevy even play in this market.
-
Also you can NOT lease a Mustang GT, only the 2.3 EcoBoost Challenger 392 Scat Pack with a 6 speed, with the 6.4 Hemi... https://www.dodge.com/build#/summary/zipcode/43016/vehicle/CUD201803/ccode/CUD201803LADX22A/llp/2DG/options/ESH,DEC,TR9,WR2,HD,XSP,GWA,UAQ,X9,PBM,23G,3EJ,APA That's a $41,525 car with a lease between $279 and $315 per month depending on how much you put down/trade in. Umm... for real? Essentially the same car just in the Charger 4 door version, however because it's a charger that mean NO manual transmission option. SO we have a Charger 293 Scat Pack with a 8 speed Auto, still with the 6.4 Hemi.. https://www.dodge.com/build#/summary/zipcode/43016/vehicle/CUD201804/ccode/CUD201804LDDR48A/llp/2DW/options/ESG,DFK,TR9,WR2,GQ,XSP,GWA,UAQ,X9,PBM,21W,APA That's a $42,370 car with a lease in the $408 to $450 range per month depending on trade in and down payment.
-
Yeah some of the pricing right now makes little to NO sense. Remember the good 'ole days when you could have a decent house on a decent paying job and a decent car that you didn't have to finance for almost a DECADE!? The standard purchase length when loading a Mustang up on Fords site to purchase is 84 MONTHS! THE ATS-V very cool car, love that they exist but absolutely NOT something she needs. Also it's hard to stomach paying $5,000 for the privilege to rent your car at $500+ per month. Charger/Challenger is looking like a better and better option BRZ I can't stomach how much they want for those damn things, it's supposed to be a starter / younger persons "fun" ride and it's in the low to mid 30s? Are you freaking serious!? They're cool little cars and I can see the appeal but not unless there's a $10,000 discount coupon online I can find somewhere.
-
The Charger/Challenger is an extremely attractive option, seems like FCA is really being aggressive on their lease deals. Even a semi base model 392 can be had in the $415-$425 range. The Mustang and Camaro lease options are almost completely unattractive, not to mention holy crap the prices they want for these damn things! Priced out a lightly optioned Mustang or Camaro you're easily in the low-mid $40k ranges and aren't even sticking on the sexier options! Miata is already on the plate, since she now AutoXs having had a blast last year at a few events we are picking her up one to run this season herself. So the search begins for a decent NA/NB that can be an AutoX car and a fair weather top down machine.
-
Well why not, we all enjoy these threads I guess. Here's the tale. My woman has always had a responsible family car due to having a family to haul around and mom stuff to do, that portion of her life is now over. Kid is successful on the West Coast fresh out of college and she's looking to replace her '08 CTS with something more fun and sporty. However, unlike the man she dates, she's rather frugal with her spend and wants to keep a payment in the $350-$400 per month range on a LEASE. She's never had a new car in her life and the idea of having one certainly holds some appeal for her as she starts to enjoy this new phase of life. * Sportyish / Fun * Likely V8 * Stick would be awesome but not a deal breaker * Attitude, if it screams MILF and turns heads all the better Annnnd Go!

Question for CR: What's the best 1980's cheap Japanese sports car?ts
99StockGT replied to Geeto67's topic in Passing Lane
This just made me twitch. I can't imagine the pain involved in what you would get for this price in one of those cars. -
Doesn't Carlyle do this kind of stuff rather often? Andy...?
