  1. Does the rear have a beak on it similar to the Acura front end design or is that just shadows? Always a fan of comfortable long low sedan though!
  2. Most important question, how's you wittle finger tip? Are you able to get someone to work the brakes while you're under to see the travel? Should be able to see if something isn't pulling back or releasing properly.
  3. Going to hope there's at least a Hondata on this thing? Anything more than heads done?
  4. More than most stores that Bethel Rd location has gone through some serious swings. From being one of the best stores in the region to one of the worst, to a high powered commercial program when I was there to not even a delivery truck now. Hell that store almost CLOSED a year ago it's so low on volume now.
  5. Hmm... there IS always the option of our lifted Riviera that's going up for sale next week... Throw some truck tires on it, nail head V8 with comfortable interior..
  6. $300 shipped for the set I bought today?! Hell yes I'll run them!
  7. I'm definitely on the old 4x4 side, whenever Tactical comes to mind I'm not typically imagining some angry muscle car making tire smoke and going straight. HOWEVER, with that said the '69 Olds Yenner posted earlier.. I could definitely get board with that. Buy it well enough it's got plenty of meat on the bone to make a very very fun ride out of.
  8. From the Ad "This car is not quick from the start but can do over 100 on the freeway." Well that's useful to know
  9. Well, that and the H1s are general terrible vehicles for civilian life. Although as a date night car.. there is a LOT of room in them...
  10. In the spirit of tactical I would say pick something from the big players that scream America! Nothing wrong with some of the less main stream but, Mustang, Cutlass, GTO, Camaro, El Co all kind of fit the image for me..
  11. This just going to be for some driving about with chest hair out? Or looking for something to roll to shows/events and such? Also, what kind of time frame? For 15k should be able to pick up a pretty decent driver, or take something a little hurt and make it fun.
  12. Good to see the scrap buckets being put to a productive use!
  13. Have them on the Syclone to replace the original Firestones that were on there, very decent tire from what I've experienced though obviously there's no nasty weather or winter weather driving in that thing.
  14. Buck, you would think so but unfortunately that's not how it works. All stores are on a retail electronic parts catalog these days so going after an exact part number can be a massive pain in the ass. Something as simple as I need an oil filter for a chevy tree fiddy if you don't have the actual filter number memorized requires you to think, ok what could this engine have possibly come out of originally? A 1976... etc etc. You get the same sort of frustration though calling a dealer parts department and the first words out of their mouth are "What's the last 8 of the VIN" On the not finding your order thing, I would be lying if that weren't a constant problem. Again organizational skills aren't the best when you pay the monkeys peanuts
  15. If they are still around I've got a big truck, know how to use it, and have plenty of Subarus we can transplant these to!

    I'm back!

Welcome back Jeff, haven't stopped by since you were just getting your Toy Barn venture started will have to come over and see all the improvements you've made!
  17. PRI for sure. Bob and Joe do great work, you won't find a better shop anywhere in the state. Not terribly priced, will be done on time and done well.
  18. In an ideal business world you want to hire the best of the best, staff your stores with the people who know your product best and communicate it to the customer base. You charge a fair price for parts to cover the actual cost, cover your expenses (labor, utils, etc), plus protect a profit margin enough to reinvest and grow your business as well as put some aside for future growth or share holder pay back. Now let's look at the current state of the auto parts world. Your retail locations are ruled by corporate guidelines on pay. Typically most counter persons are paid between $8-$13 per hour depending on location and experience. These people are expected to maintain the sales floor, work inventory, interact with customers, install batteries, scan codes, and provide a generally positive shopping experience. Hours of availability are 7am-10pm m-f and vary on Sundays. Your assistant managers are paid a few dollars an hour more with the same responsibilities plus the back end/paperwork/keyholder responsibilities. So on the hiring side you are paying less than or equal to non skilled labor positions which are constantly hiring in almost any area. You are staffing for hours which may (read WILL) include early mornings and late nights as well as required weekends. You are requiring considerably larger job responsibilities than stocking shelves, all for the same or less compensation. On top of all THESE challenges you have an exact amount of labor hours you are allowed to fill your schedule that are predetermined based on a computer and some team in another state knowing your business better than you who are in your store 5-6 days a week. Enter the biggest issue, online parts sales. With sites like Rock Auto that have little staffing, a very low overhead business model, and accept a lower than standard across the board profit margin, standard part stores are fighting with 1 hand and 2 toes against a ninja. The more sales that go online, whether through a retailers site or a competitor online only site the lower the "retail sales" which in turn means fewer labor hours to spend. You will find most parts stores have a policy that they "Don't Match Online Retailers" for exactly this reason, the playing field is far from level and what is the point of selling something at below my cost (after cost/utils/labor/etc)? If you aren't making money you are just having a very slow going out of business sale. Unfortunately, gone are the days of having those "Parts Pros" we all remember from the pre-internet age. The "Old Guys" that could rebuild a chevy small block with their eyes closed with parts they have behind the counter. Those guys have moved on, aged out, and become too expensive for the modern business to support. Now you are in an age of forum crawlers, extreme discount shoppers, facebook groups, all that can be great tools for knowledge and best possible pricing. Sound like a fun battle to you? Interested in taking a job as a General Manager? They're always hiring, oh and base pay rates for GMs start in the $35k range! Apply today!
  19. Good to know my old store is still doing it right As a CR member who ran 3 different parts stores as a GM for Advance over the years.. believe me you've no idea the pain you deal with on a daily basis. Oh the stories I could tell..
  20. So this thing was set up for him at 450 WHP.. what in the hell is this thing at +300 over that? This MIGHT be a case of just because you CAN build it doesn't mean you SHOULD build it.. But still loved it! P.S. At one point as you look out the front window there's a white curvy car... that's the 122S Volvo that's tearing into the Grid Life world right now...and making me highly consider modifying mine Looks a little something like http://speedhunters-wp-production.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/19080052/Super-Amazon-01-1200x800.jpg Edit: This is the actual car from that video http://lifeblasters.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/22.jpg
  21. Sounds like a decent start, that kit should have come with enough fueling to handle the extra but 500 at the tires on a stock bottom end is getting a bit much. Most people in the G/Z world tend to keep the bolt ons a bit lower to save on sone very expensive repair bills. Any time you are buying something that highly modified always hope for the best but plan for the worst!
  22. Any idea what kit is on it and what mods have been done to ensure it doesn't go boom? The top end on those cars is pretty stout, the heads take a ton of abuse. Unfortunately if you are talking engine rebuild/upgrade time you are looking at some rather serious money to the tune of $6-$10k
  23. If you can find a 370z nismo for a decent price, they are absolutely fantastic cars. You won't be left wanting for sure, then if you need more power in the future go towards one of the bolt on TT kits that are out there.
  24. Depends what you are looking for honestly. One of the most unique exhaust notes of any car on the road, comfortable sporty car, good classy looks. As for the 350Z/370Z and the G35/G37 yes they are essentially the same car with extra sound deadening and options. If you are looking for more power, there are some very decent bolt on turbo kits that can be quite impressive when properly set up and tuned. Over the years you have some differences on the motors with cam phasing and such, single intakes and duel intakes, a few other things. Really just depends on what you are looking for out of it. Also the Ohio G/Z/GTR Club is one of the most active and supportive car groups you could ever possibly want to be a part of.
  25. Completely agree about the ringland issue, the fact that we haven't had a resolution over the entire run of that motor type is incredible. They just let the aftermarket deal with it, one of those things that skirts on JUST the side of recall like so many other engine manufacturer issues. The diesel world has "known" issues all over the place, unfortunately.
