Today I said a thing I thought I would never say

I'll certainly give you the fuel injection and distrib-less ignition as valid points, though I think that was done more as necessity to make the thing run with the turbo setup. Same thing with the low compression internals, it's pretty much a requirement when throwing forced induction into anything. Definitely can't argue with the tuning side of things, that period of time was definitely the first twinklings of what we have today. As to its domestic competitors, there really weren't any because everything else we were making was terrible. -

From what I have heard of the car its far more working prototype than "concept car" so there's a chance this might actually get built in something similar to this form. There definitely will be some safety concerns with some of the styling and a few items that would have to come up to US code.. but all in all its tasty! What comes to my mind about it is again their Asian market, as their brand image as a car for the "Arrived" is it something we have to look at across the pond -

What high tech cutting edge stuff did they have in their motors? Edit: Don't take my comments as meaning they aren't interesting cars that served a purpose in the genetics of cars to come. With what was learned and demonstrated on the 3.8v6 GNs it was the dawn of an age that saw the crazy cars of the late 80s through mid 90s. -
Winter is definitely a trick, there have been several Saturday mornings I can remember last year that it was myself and maybe 3 other people standing in a circle in a parking lot freezing our asses off. Unfortunately in the cold months there's not much an option unless there's a parking garage somewhere we could invade (for free)?

Oh I'm not new to the secret of Buicks at all, have been a fan of their past cars however for the past several generations they have been rather underwhelming. In the eyes of the American consumer they are far down the list of "desirable" brands. However their success in China as a high end brand has kept them rolling more than anything, so they've got that going for them. And as for the GNs, they were shit even back in the day. They rode like hell, stopped like hell, had the styling of a grandparents car even back then. Aside from the all black and wheels you pretty much had nothing other than a badge that denoted you were driving something different. The motor was nothing exciting and not very dependable, the only thing it truly had going for it was a big turbo. Had they sold in great numbers and been something that would have been a viable vehicle for the future we would have seen more of them or a rebirth. GNs made good drag cars because, well you could do the exact same thing to every other G body. The GNs were a low tech high boost way of showing off a little bit that fizzled. Also, nothing like having to explain why your car isn't a grandma's car to everyone who sees it and isn't a "Car person" -
Congrats on making the first step, it's by far the hardest one and as others have echoed hopefully this gives you a good chance to improve the "other things" in life. Big paychecks and fun toys are all well and good, but if you're in pain and miserable all day every day your quality of life still sucks. Having done a Call Center job myself a number of years ago best of luck to you, at least you'll be talking about something you know and love. Have some fun, make connections with the team members around you and it might be one of the best decisions you've ever made. If it turns out to not be what you want chalk it up to a learning experience and opportunity to heal up, then move on down the path of life again. Kudos for taking the step many refuse to!

In a modern luxury GT cruiser absolutely automatic. If they were to offer this in a stick I imagine they would sell about 6 of them. -
Ran Mid Ohio with the Auto Interests group last year and had an amazing time, great group of people and extremely helpful. Personally I intend to hit Mid Ohio at least twice this year and would also love to catch an "out of town" event, maybe if other CRs are eyeballing something we could set up something to do as a group?

Just rambling a random thought that wandered through my mind, I really appreciate the "neutral ground" that is the CC&C that's going now. When spring is here the Wholly Joes car show on Polaris will start back up, that's a pretty solid group of old school classics, bring in a few of the "Sonic Nights" crew from when things were really rocking up there, maybe even reach out to a few more of the custom truck crowd that seems to be in low attendance for Saturday mornings. As a group I think there's a lot we can do as CR folk to help promote it, spread the word and grow naturally. Watching The Oven lately we see quite a few new members that have heard of us through CC&C which is awesome, let's do more of that. Grow both this online community and our friendly parking lot Saturday mornings its a win win win for everyone.. Just some ramblings

"I'm really excited to see the new Buick at the Auto show next weekend!" - Me http://jalopnik.com/the-2016-buick-avista-concept-is-your-gorgeous-luxury-c-1752143282 Modern chassis, twin turbo, rear wheel drive, magnetic ride control, two door coupe, that doesn't squeak creak and groan... and looks rather striking

Would definitely be cool to see some non street cars come out, I know a lot of the AutoX folk don't get to make our Saturday mornings because they are busy chasing orange cones around a parking lot which is unfortunate but nothing can really be done about it. Lunch is actually a part of my Saturday morning ritual as is, see cars talk to folks get coffee head to Polaris for cheap and tasty Mexican food before starting a productive/semi-productive day. P.S. Please please don't make me get up any earlier on Saturdays

It's worked out pretty well in the past for us. Only thing I would caution is sometimes when "sponsors" get involved it sours the experience for others. Take our shop for example, maybe you had a bad experience with us, aren't a fan of me personally, don't like what we do, or support a shop you see us "in competition" with that may make people not want to show. Can add a bit of drama to an otherwise very chill and low key experience However, can be a neat experience for people to get a more personal behind the scenes kind of look at different operations. Occasionally we see some business up tick from it but usually it's just for the love of automotive that we host

Personal opinion? 9am on a saturday morning is a little rough for those of us who are still in the going out on friday nights phase of life. However a cruise, after like 11ish then maybe hitting a lunch spot/shop/photo op, is an idea I could get behind. As for the parking lot, other than when there's some random huge movie coming out we really haven't had much issue with the parking situation. I kind of like the whole dynamic now where you can either park with a "Crew" or like rides. I'll see your .02 Doc and raise you .05

Towards late fall we had a cruise for the Ohio G club that started at CC&C, afterwards we all got on the road together and cruised up to the shop. Along the way picked up several others ended up with a pretty good crowd. Those sorts of things DO require some time, energy, and cat herding skills just fair warning of what you could be getting into. Even the day off we had no idea how many people to expect, 5 or 50 until Gs/Zs starting appearing out of nowhere.

Where do you buy your aftermarket parts? Why?
99StockGT replied to Stimmel1647545512's topic in Passing Lane
??? not sure what that has to do with this thread.. but umm ok And it's a good thing you don't want to buy it since it's already sold -
I'm sure I know a shop that would be happy to host something if you want to go that route. Last fall we did a couple of cookouts for a few car clubs and have a decent amount of space. But to echo Doc, part of what has made your CC&C group so excellent is the simplicity. I know any Saturday I can get my tired ass out of bed, drive down 315 and meet some people who are into cars and not stuffed shirt about it. Now, the idea of partnering up with someone who wanted to set up a rally or something .. not a bad idea. But don't let it detract from what you've already built.

Unfortunately the parts game is a rat race, everyone scrounging and fighting their way to the bottom. You slit my throat to get a sale and I'll do the same back to you once I realize, meanwhile we've both seen our profit margins erode. Buying a known part number from an unknown or unreliable source is a great way to save a penny but should you need support or exchange... well.. -
Well if the UFO at Mid Ohio is open to all, you can likely count at least 4 of our Lucore crew in for it. Yay racing season not far away!
-
So for those of us who aren't Facebookers... any chance you could add it to our thread here?

All new brake lines, new calipers, racing pads, slotted drilled rotors, and high temp fluids ordered for the Stealth to get it ready for road racing this spring! Bye bye money there are race car things to do!

I know none of you care but, car is sold to a very happy new owner. Lock this shit up!

Bumpy? Anyone? Anyone?

As always it also becomes a value proposition, does it make sense to put $9k in your $20k car to make it into a modified monster versus trading in and trading up? Though at resell I'm sure you would get SOME of that investment back, as we all have learned you never get a large chunk of that back. However, I'm in the wagon with the rest of you. A super light weight and nimble frame paired with a high revving angry chevy v8 has been a proven smile provider for years, and would certainly be unique.
