  1. Why does this sound like I should keep and build this thing... and I've already started parts shopping...
  2. Ha! Yes I figured with this and the Haynes manual I should be able to build one with parts off Craigslist Hard to figure an accurate price of what these things go for as there aren't many examples of them out there for sale. Is it worth putting $2k or so into it for a rebuild, some small upgrades, and maintenance pieces? Or, punt it to someone who will enjoy it now? I DO already have a turbo car or 3 sitting around the work on already..
  3. So umm.. this happened this weekend. Came up through one of my car channels as available and ended up picking it up this weekend. With the current back log of projects I have going right now not sure what to do here.. anyone had experience with these things that would be useful? a) I'm into the car at a good price b) body panels are rough but solid car c) 7MGTE turbo car, stick, targa top d) All the spiffy options Build it? Racecar it? Sell it on to someone who would be able to make it something cool? Help me Tom Cruise! Err CR http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/b452/LucoreRacing/20160417_203302_zps0objki3i.jpg
  4. Good purchase Sir! Always loved these cars myself, I'm sure you'll enjoy!
  5. Good to see it's suspension time! From AutoX we did with the Merc club last year, she definitely had some worn out bits that needed some attention! Looks like you have a great combination for some fun in the cones this summer
  6. If you have 160k on original stock components I would definitely say it's time to replace whether or not you bumped up the power and engine weight. They've had a long hard life and time for some new shiney bits. The nice part with your platform is anything you could possibly want to get into has already been sorted out by others before you. As always when it's replacement time, why buy stock when for just a liiittle more you can get something better?
  7. You mentioned previously that there are others out there with more power than you are, guessing you have compared notes with them? Typically the Subaru community is one of the better out there on sharing ideas/experiences/dreams so I'm shocked to find no one has run into this and found a fix. Certainly not on the same scale as you but my Merkur feels somewhat similar, I've owned the car a little over 3 years now and purchased it as a track car. Several thousand dollars later, a few engine rebuilds, buying 2 OTHER Merkurs, lots and lots of parts... and it's STILL never made it on track. But, it's something I still enjoy standing around scratching my head and tinkering with, the idea of selling it isn't even an option. Sometimes these pains and memories we build with our rides are worth it... sometimes not.
  8. If I'm not down south picking up a new toy I'll be there!
  9. Unless you are doing lots of high speed breaking with it, go with quality blanks. To continue your pseudo-science mode of thought, taking the same size rotor and drilling/slotting it reduces the contact/friction patch between the pad and rotor. I've always lived by slow speed breaking better with blanks, repeated high speed breaking better with drilled/slotted.
  10. I'm sure you've talked with your shop after all this was done, what was their thought? What all exactly was done to this for the repair? Any time we ever release a car to a customer that's had custom work done to it there are always miles/break-in on it to make sure this exact thing doesn't happen.. sorry to hear your foray into heavily modded has gone so poorly With the fact you already have your racecar itch handled I would probably recommend going to a platform that ISN'T much supported in the aftermarket. Less availability means less temptation... spoken from someone who does NOT live his own advice.
  11. Powers that be what say ye? Don't want to be stepping on any toes here just thought this would be an interesting thought exercise and now we seem to be quickly barreling down the path.
  12. Do you guys do any printing once you have these graphics created? Or have a preferred location? Otherwise I can go through my normal channels
  13. Count me, MiniPhil, and a new guy in
  14. That looks like a hell of a place to sit, definitely reached "Cockpit Status" Love to see it coming along as spring is getting here!
  15. Very nice, like the ride. Having just recently been introduced to the Mini world in track time I can say these things are a blast to drive through twistys, and sounds like you've done some good changes to make her yours. Welcome aboard Sir!

Please finish your fapping to the previous 4 photos http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/b452/LucoreRacing/Lamans9595Austin_zpsjkfocxnp.jpg
  17. Would you like photos with or without women draped all over them?
  18. Both my Volvo and my Pontiac are available if you need either
  19. Definitely looks like you are making some solid progress. Finding a little time here and a little time there are where you eat these projects. Keep it up! Not sure if you are one of those guys that do plaques and stuff but I always love reading the "Car Story" when I go to shows and there's something on display that shows where it came from and its journey.
  20. Or buy our Galaxy for way less than that and spend the rest of our budget fixing small stuff and making it what you want.
  21. Personally I think the 3 that you posted in colors are excellent, strong and clean looking designs. With all the lines through the "Shelby" style they seem a bit too busy to me, just feels like your eyes are drawn all over the place.
  22. I think the Cooper Works package comes with Stripes..
  23. Really appreciate all the time and energy you are putting into this. And thanks everyone for the feedback and interest!
