  1. Yes on turbo motors you want lower static compression as when you are pushing extra air into the cylinders you are pushing the Dynamic compression up. As the D compression goes up you'll have higher and higher pressures and need higher fuels to handle the mix. Also keep in mind, if you are doing something like this you are going to end up doing forged internals, cam, upgraded fuel, head studs, tuning, exhaust, etc etc... Unfortunately on most cars you don't have enough "wiggle room" to just bolt on and go
  2. Follow these steps to begin bidding and buying with Copart: Join Copart. Submit Business Licenses (if applicable) or Find a Broker (if applicable) Search Vehicles. Add Vehicles to Watchlist. Join Auctions. Place Bids. Pay and Pick Up
  3. Have bought several cars off of Copart, there are definitely fees beyond what you see as your "bid price". Most of what you find on there are insurance write off cars, either from collision damage or catastrophic mechanical failures.
  4. Could be interested in a trade, what are you thinking?
  5. Often times you can find some decent buys on there as donor cars, many times you will be pleasantly surprised on the product you get at pickup. Watched a car a few weeks ago that we lost out on, should have gone in the 2000-2500 range ended up losing it at over 3700. As EssFo says a lot of these cars go as rebuilt and sold as normal cars. If it comes with a clean title you can do quite a bit to bring them back then push them down the road to a buyer as if its been "cherry" its entire life.
  6. You would be surprised what that car will eventually go for on Copart. As someone who trolls that site on the daily, its shocking.
  7. One of the reasons for this of us in the build/repair business farm out our machining work. Its not worth my tying up highly skilled tech on something I'm going to make very little profit on. Unfortunately finding a good machine shop who knows what they are doing and can turn product reasonably quickly is a tough situation. And only going to get harder as you don't see a lot of new "Machinists" opening up shops these days. Heads look great btw, hopefully all goes on well and you get to start getting some smiles for all the $$$s!
  8. Are people even attentive enough drivers these days if they aren't car folk to notice any more? Between texting/infotainment/kids/general despondency I don't feel like much of anything gets noticed on the roads of today. Unless you are in the lane they are trying to move through to get over to the exit ramp.
  9. I certainly understand where everyone is coming from with the newer is better faster stronger more reliable etc but once you have that attachment it's hard to say good bye. When my mustang was stolen last winter and recovered it took me almost 2 weeks to finally let it go off to the crusher versus rebuilding it piece by damaged piece. And it's not even that it was fiscally worth much... but saying good bye to your "baby" is hard... ::tears::
  10. Well, time to clear out a few rides as we focus on some winter projects so first up is our 2 door Galaxie. Car runs drives stops and makes America noises with the 351 v8 under the hood. This is an Auto car so put it in D and chil. Will need some work, needs floors and interior work done but for the most part its all there. You also need a drivers side rear tail light assembly replaced. Asking $5800 but as always, for CR we are willing to deal. Here's a link to the CL ad as well. https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/5309594747.html http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/b452/LucoreRacing/20151112_085217_zps5rmf5vp9.jpg http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/b452/LucoreRacing/20151112_085217_zps5rmf5vp9.jpg http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/b452/LucoreRacing/20151112_085229_zpsu2hiujuu.jpg
  11. Not sure who all was there late summer when the Cougar club showed up... probably 10-12 of them from all over the place with Mercury Cougars and that was their THING. Now I would definitely say most of us giggled and pointed, but seeing the pride in the ride no matter if its something cool to us or not... was pretty cool.
  12. http://jalopnik.com/mans-friends-secretly-restore-his-wrecked-svt-focus-an-1744649350 How many of us have seen a fellow car nuts ride killed, stolen, or maimed and wanted to pull something like this off? Nice to know it DOES actually happen sometimes.
  13. Not saying I DON'T have some ricer in me, I've got some turbo cars with quite a lot of exhaust noise. But as with most things, moderation is best.
  14. Am I the only one who will admit this is a perfectly comfortable way of signally a nod/respect/pr0ps/whatever to a nearby car you appreciate? Provided its just a blip not a full on rev limiter bang bang..
  15. Welcome to Performance City (Plain City) neighbor
  16. Very sad to see this go, and if I remember Brian "Chucky" Davis was the hot head guy from Detroit in the red Mustang they had on a recent all country call out. Sometimes the best thing that can keep you out of a wreck it the grey matter between your ears that tells you whether or not to push that hard/far. I'm sure the footage will make it into an episode, very glad to hear Justin is ok he seems like a pretty decent dude. I BELIEVE tonight's episode is where "Daddy Dave" reveals his Goliath car.. which didn't last long before getting loose and into a wall.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_UIR-Ild4w
  17. Just to chuck in my .02 on the subject and something others have touched on, canned tunes are designed as a generic "this works with this this and this" parts. They also typically leave quite a bit on the table as far as performance goes in order to allow for tolerances between different machines. Where as with a custom tuning you have someone constantly monitoring the feedback and data of your specific car. Unfortunately, not all cars we buy have been treated nicely in their previous life so while monitoring for tuning and powwa you may also be able to hunt down issues or injuries you didn't know of before. And hopefully you spot those issues before something goes boom Ok, so maybe that was more like .05
  18. Looks like we'll be sending some business their way as well here this week. Rarely do you find a group that's almost totally positive response. Kudos!
  19. I hear Lucore Automotive does excellent work for the CR community
  20. Maybe they will come out with a drop down menu on the build side for either "ship with no motor" or "LSx"?
