7 hours of detailing later I have a brand new appreciation for all professional detailers.. My back hurt for 3 days! Stealth hasn't been so black in a decade though, impressive what some work and chemicals can do!
-
Well what are we procrastinators supposed to do? Detail these toys ourselves!?
-
Ya that's what I'm running into. I thought I would have time to do it myself however its looking like not the case. Most everyone I know of is either booked solid or not overly well thought of. Hence why I came here
-
Do we have anyone in the community still doing this? I would like to ge the LeMans engine bay cleaned up for the Good Guys show this coming weekend, also the Stealth could use some interior and exterior loving to bring the black back to life.

Pay is more than 7 or 8 an hour, that would be sub-shit Position filled with one of our own. Thanks for the interest everyone! And thanks for the bump Rick, hopefully this place behaves the same way those few hours a week when I'm NOT in the building.

Move it to an earlier time so it's before the Hooligans get out of bed? Or is it that all we Hooligans are getting older now and able to make events at 8am?
-
I love that he's doing it on "Pontiac Power" though it's certainly a race built motor from Butler Performance and a whole bunch of extras. He mentioned at one point having something near $130000 in the car, I wonder how much of that is his money and how much is sponsor gifts? Doesn't seem the type to have that kind of scratch laying around. And I'm most CERTAINLY not putting that kind of money in this thing...not going higher than 4 digits in mods EVER again

Hell of a good turnout lastnight, if I hadn't just finished a 7-1030 shift I would have stayed longer. Looks like everyone is behaving themselves up there too!

Ya unfortunately I've seen it all...that damn Crow car is making my LeMans itch!
-
I'll be there for a bit after work

61 myself, most of the active clan members are 60-70
-
To this point I've yet to spend any money on the game. We have a clan of 8-9 active members and have just jumped into the ClanWars side of the game, so far we are 4-1. Unfortunately when going 10 vs 10 and only having 8 members you can count on we are at a bit of a disadvantage. Anyone looking to switch loyalties?

This damn game. It's simple, cartoonish and annoyingly addictive. Started playing with a few other people in the work family now its expanding and we are looking for new members... Anyone wanna nerd out with us?

Goodguys Nationals July 11th, 12th, 13th Columbus

Ohhh snap Make sure to take some pictures of my Pontiac for me Debating if I want to park it in the show grounds or at our Advance/Mothers display -
Well it's that time of the year again to hear and see good 'ole American Muscle power rolling around all over the Columbus highways and byways. Once again they will be returning to our fair city for their biggest show of the year over the July 11th-13th weekend at the Ohio State Fairgrounds! I'm sure many/most of us have been to these before if not I HIGHLY recommend it. Some of the best cars in the country will be there along with many vendors/shops. Weather tends to be hot so dress for it otherwise you'll spend a small fortune in fluids. I'll be there working a booth for AAP as well as have my LeMans entered and sitting in the parking lot. Hope to see a lot of people out and about!

This I don't see as much of a limiting factor. Digital storage has grown by leaps and bounds so it's cheap, small, light weight, and easy to come by. There's no reason what so ever that you can't have a huge digital storage medium in the box that does nothing but capture numerical data. Without having to record video the sheer size of database(s) this could be is incredible. You also can easily have in place a profiling system similar to a "Tune" that modified cars have however instead of us changing fuel maps and timing it's changing the data is has based on YOUR driving habits. Not saying it's happening but not much of a stretch to imagine. Similar to the Progressive system when they notice you drive hard, brake late, commute long distances, or late at night you become a "higher risk" driver. On the FLIP side of this, maybe the car learning my style will be a good thing and it can tailor itself to how 'I' perform. Highly doubt that sort of tech has trickled down to Mustangs .... yet

Do I have another toy? Yes I do, unfortunately several of them. Do I show the car? Yes I do, though I work a ton during the show times I try to get to 4-5 shows in addition to the one I run every year. Do I plan to sell the car? Impossible to say, in the near future unlikely. I have issues with disconnecting from cars which is why I already have a fleet in my early 30s. Were an offer come up that was hard to refuse you never know. But I DO love this thing. As it sits other than the paint being redone, new roof and a recored radiator she's basically 100% origional and stock. What I guess I have kicking around in my head is this. The Pontiac block that's in this thing is the same one they used from the 350 to the 455 so has PLENTY of room to bore and the option to put a 455 in a LeMans was available in 71. So taking this one up to a 455 and "Optioning Up" would still keep it in the realm of what it could have been from the factory. Obviously some other modifications would be needed with carb/intake/cam and exhaust to support what we did internally but would that be frowned on from the greater car community? I KNOW seeing the latest episode of Street Outlaws which Big Chief is using a 70 version of the same car to build his Crow car has made this itch return. Obviously I'm not looking to THAT over the top but....aw hell IDK. Good Guys is coming up in 2 weekends and I once again will be there with the LeMans. Typically speaking of the crazy collection of cars there I'm one of the only LeMans there that haven't been badged and modded up to GTO or GTO+ status so that's something I enjoy. To think, this car was something mom would use to go to the grocery store back in the 70s.

They won't give you the camera led play by play but with the amount of things electronically controlled now is incredible. Steering angle, brake / throttle pressure, (GPS) in some cases, driving habits, etc...all those things can go together to help paint the picture. "Well sir we see from your driving profile saved in the 'Black Box' that you typically drive like a WOT asshole, brake too hard and have a history of hard fast stops.."
-
So I'm once again fighting with myself and I think it's finally time to bite the bullet and do a little modification. Ran into a cooling issue the past couple weeks and upon working on the ORIGIONAL waterpump realized we are going to need some TLC on the LeMans motor. 98% of the engine is origional and I would like to keep it that way however there's much more fun to be had from her with some goodies under the hood. SO, Question 1 : Who local has experience rebuilding/restoring big block pontiacs and won't rape me on costs? Question 2 : Rebuild and upgrade or rebuild to origional spec and purchase a crate engine for running around having fun without destroying value of the car? Question 3 : To hell with it and go big or go home. Bored / Stroked / all the fixins and turn it into a street monster :fuckyeah:

The future of everything automotive. The little black boxes we have been used to in plains trains and boats now keeping track of all your dirty little misdeeds. Many commercial cars/trucks/vans have been doing this for years. Keeping track of speed, throttle and braking %s, seat belts, etc.. Am I disappointed to see all these new "Safey Measures" installed on the new mustang? Absolutely. Do I appreciate the march of technology that's allowing us better and better cars, Absolutely. Will I allow this and a few other annoying issues with the car to keep one out of my garage? Absolutely not.

Doh! Of all the weekend that I'll be working a Sunday and my car is actually running 80% right!
-
here we are Friday night again...

How much ya need? I'm sure I can get some in for you

Well I don't want to let go of ALL my secrets, kinda spoils the fun when you pull up in a faded red ford escourt and people don't know what to make of it At this point I unfortunately am probably up spending a decent chunk of change on a new programmable/tunable computer. Which means I'm either going PiMP or Megasquirt I think, unfortunately I've not done much on this side of things in the past and don't know where the best bang for the buck comes from. Anyone have experience working with either? Going to put in some sensors to watch temps as well before going much higher, I have my intercooler hidden pretty well however in doing so it also cuts down on the amount of air that can flow to it so an IAT is going to be important. Currently I'm running a VERY safe timing, can stand to probably take 10-12 degrees of timing out of her with the boost we are running from what I can tell. As she leans out more and more power comes on.... then we get to the adjustable cam gear...oh wait add that to the mods list! And three new high flow electric fans....
