  1. At this point so much has changed since it was last dyno'd I don't really want to speculate too much but when it was run before it did 260hp 295torque. Its definitely got plenty of throw you in your seat turbo kick. We should be able to dial it up higher as we continue to shake things out though. Right now I'm just being careful not to blow the damn thing up at the beginning of summer. Have a feeling there's a new Intake Air Temp cooling solution in my very near future..
  2. Typical evening for a VR-4 owner, side of the road in the dark with the hood up :fuckyeah:
  3. Nice thing about running a parts store I've got pretty great access to parts/pricing Damn car addictions...why can't I just have a drug problem instead?
  4. I guess at this point I should post the list of Mods on the car. It's just a tiny bit above stock but I trust you all to keep my secret. 5. I feel the hair on the back of my head growing down towards my shoulders every time I order more parts for this thing...at which point is enough enough? New walbro fuel pump incoming... so far 20lbs sustained with no break ups or problems all the way to 6500, AFR staying comfortable in the rich/stoich.
  6. Excellent! Thanks for your business, we certainly appreciate it. For the $10-20 more the Gold over the Silver is always the way to go. Glad Leigh could help you out. It's odd how many of those Odyssey filters are only stocked at the warehouse. I have at least 4-5 a week that I've got to order in for the current gen...someone somewhere smarter than I never pushes them out to the stores pro-actively.
  7. Well what a productive week! Went through all vacuum lines replacing as we went, all clamps and such replaced as well as t-fittings. Still have a bit of a leak somewhere which is throwing off the idle however she is MUCH happier. Pulled and replaced plugs, went to a slightly hotter plug as she seems to be running rich and hoping to compensate for a bit of that. Replumbed in a manual boost controller and turned her down to about 12lbs for diag purposes, took it out and we are feeling much happier. Still running into a breakup in the higher rev range so swapped in a Motorcraft ignition control and we are seeing much much better response and power through the rev range. Upon further homework these motors apparently through ghost knock codes when they see larger than stock amounts of air flow....which is certainly a problem when dealing with a larger turbo and higher boost. So.... worked our way around THAT issue and took her out...WHOLE different beast! Runs happily up to 6500 with no knock, AFR stays well inside of the safe zone and she's back to being fun to drive! Did a quick oil change to pull the old stuff out, though only 300 or so miles on that oil with all the sputter/missing/etc I thought it best to start fresh. Drove her to work today and everything seems to be moving in the right direction to start bumping up the boost a little here and there to see where Happy / Fun / Safe intersect.. Stay Tuned!
  8. Well from the dealers documentation that just came out looks like a small weight increase which would make sense with the IRS. Unfortunately it didn't do the "Smaller lighter faster" we were all hoping for but should still be good. Performance specs are still withheld so hopefully the power bump is either coming with THIS year or next in the 5.0
  9. Working through the issues. Still fighting the cold idle problem but that is something I can deal with at this point. Blew out the manifold to turbo gasket under boost the other day so had to replace and reseal with some copper gasket and the felpro part from the store. Leak there seems to be resolved. Now we are fighting some power issues between 3 and 6000 under heavy boost she seems to either losing fuel or air and we get a poof of smoke out the pipe. AFR does bounce around a bit in the higher revs so now we are battling this little challenge. Project continues!
  10. I run the Powell store. About 200 feet removed from Lewis Center. Come up 23 just north of Home Depot/Walmart I'm on the west side of the road.
  11. There's always the option of MY store up on 23 though that would be a bit far for most people for sure. I've talked to myself and myself says he's fine with it as long as we clean up after ourselves and don't get TOO rowdy
  12. Welcome back. One of these must be had at some point and in my garage next to the LeMans...in the same color...or is that creepy? Either way, welcome aboard.
  13. Just an FYI the costs on R134a are skyrocketing right now so get it while you can if you are in need. At the moment the consumer grade stuff is still locked in price wise however the commercial canisters just went up about 40% over night..Department of Commerce just put the smackdown on cheap import of it.
  14. Glad to hear you are having a good experience with our location in your neck of the woods, I'll pass along the kudos. Regardless of what battery you are using, if the thing sits for long periods of times without use (drain/recharge) it's not going to be 100% healthy. Every spring I have people taking their toys out of storage from boats to bikes to mowers and toy cars all that have failing batteries. I will certainly give a +1 to Interstate though, I have one in my 4Runner from when I bought it 5 years ago and with the exception of one draw down the battery has held out well. Something to keep in mind also, many of their batteries have higher than "normal" cold cranking amps so you can afford to lose more and still have a "good" battery.
  15. You known Brent...if only you knew someone who runs an Advance Store who could help take care of you on any and all battery needs... As many people have noted, just don't let them go dead and they are great batteries. The coupons we offer can also sweeten the pot. What is taking you towards an Optima in the first place? We just brought out an Autocraft AGM which is built through JCI (Johnson Controls) who builds most every battery out there these days that we have had great success with and are a bit cheaper than Optima.. Warranty wise you've got 3 year free replacement on Optimas versus defect, you've got 3 year free + 2 extra years prorated on anything Autocraft gold and up. Not to mention having a friend in the business always helps
  16. Lol well I'm right around the corner from you, so order more parts!
  17. One of my commercial accounts is looking to fill a general tech position and asked if I had any contact with people who could be interested so here I am once again. Position will be doing basic mechanic work, oil changes, tire rotations, etc. This is a full time job 40hrs/week and does include benefits. Good opportunity to get in the door or as a first position for someone who's interested in getting experience. Pay rate is $9.00
  18. Unfortunately the tires are the easy part
  19. Yes it's got work done, in the process of getting everything else finished just need to throw some meats on the rear to make it road ready for now.
  20. Looking for a set with an old muscle kind of look, also needs to be very cost effective as this is a budget project car and the wheels are only going to be there for a few months.
  21. Polaris isn't a bad spot and occassionally you get a decent group together however drama can and does come down hard when it comes down. You DO however have quite a lot of parking up here as well as nice On/Off interstate ramps as long as it's not anywhere near "Normal Work Hours". I'm not 100% on this but I imagine I can work something out with my old store, where we had the show, about allowing meets in the parking lot if that were something people would be interested in.
  22. Awesome score! For all of us who have dreams of weekend racing but having life get in the way, more than a tiny bit jealous.
  23. Looks like a great time, as the 90s will remind us Wear Sunscreen! Some of the snorkling down there can be absolutely awesome and you can entertain yourself for days just staying near the beaches. The all inclusive is pretty much the only way to go to anything in that area of the world, wouldn't do it any other way. Only thing that can be a bit annoying is if the resort is super crowded and you are tripping over people at the beach. Nice thing is with it being an island and not mainland Honduras you shouldn't be battling locals much.
