Just for my own knowledge what makes you want to go to an aggressive pad/rotor combo on a DD? As long as you aren't hooning the thing about there are certainly other alternatives and as Jeff has mentioned before there as several of us in the industry that can help you out on your purchases.

Silver Honda Ridgeline w/ Blackouts on Hard Rd.
99StockGT replied to hpfiend's topic in Passing Lane
It wasn't THAT long ago that car parts stores were stocked with stickers, neons, under glows, light up washer nozzels, and various other "bolt on" performance mods...there had to be a reason for it. A LOT of us started out more "rice" than we like to think. Fortunately some of us have grown since then...well maybe grown is the wrong word, let's go with aged. -
I'll certainly agree with the post about flex, I've had my 99 vert since I ordered it and it's always been an issue. Definitely doesn't glue to the road like some of the smaller lighter more Euro verts. BUT, some frame supports, from and read braces and you will be MUCH happier with her. Toss in some lowering springs and some better shocks/struts it's a completely different beast. Mine is currently sitting around 120000 miles on her and still an absolute BLAST to drive.

Just want to thank you for a great laugh this morning reading this thread. Oh, and umm...anyone know where I can get some LEDs? -
Nice shot! Just imagine how much faster we could get you guys your parts if you let me borrow your car for a day. Put an Advance sticker down the side...

How about a picture of it already filthy there Mr. Stas? Was over in your "cage" yesterday with some parts and that thing was filthy! Isn't there some rule about not getting your brand new white car dirty within the first week of ownership? I guess on a road testing side of things...how did she handle in the rain?
-
Just a quick heads up, anyone needing parts today is the last day of our fiscal period so I'm even more motivated than normal to get some units out the door. Wheeling and dealing on anything and everything I can get my hands on, need something? Shoot me a message on here or call the store and ask for me. Hope everyone is enjoying their Halloween weekend!

Need recommendations on Sub 6K winter/haul vehicle

4 Runners in that generation have a few rust areas they basically ALL rust in largely all over the rear gate and the chrome bumpers. You can swap those out easily and cheaply though so not a big deal, I'm doing the same thing on mine in the next week or so already have all the new pieces. The other nice thing is parts availability is gorgeous, can find parts for the 3.4 V6 just about anywhere and the pricing isn't terrible really on any of it. Mine just completed ANOTHER move this past week and is no worse for the wear, can't wait for the snow to start falling to go play! -
The average age of car part buyers has changed over the years from the supply side as well. Not THAT long ago you would see tons of teens/20 somethings in our stores looking for parts to fix/repair/upgrade/customize their rides...now the average age is probably in their mid 30s to mid 40s. Those younger buyers who DO come in, are still often driving the same cars we all once worked on. The 90s rides we all wax on and on about. While yes the OBDII situation is wonderful, not to mention the VAST amount of knowledge available just typing in the P code and Year/Make/Model into your Google box to find a YouTube video, the perception has changed. When everything LOOKS complicated, or you have shrouds that cover everything in the engine bay, it scares off the casual wrencher. You also have a large shift in the parenting generation of those youngsters. A generation now in their 40s+ that are used to just letting someone else do the work or getting something new. Part of one of the reasons those of us IN the industry try to encourage younger folk every chance we get to take pride in their ride. It may not be a new ZR1 but it's YOURS and you can enjoy it and puff your chest out. Parents lead the way, if YOU won't get your hands dirty, why would your kids?

Friends don't let friends buy Range Rovers -
Any of you guys using NOS and want to stock up on backup engines let me know, I'll cut you some deals if buying in bulk!
-
Just wanted to remind you all that we here at Advance Auto Parts Powell are still here to assist you in your car part buying! Winter is here, if you haven't noticed, and with it comes all those wonderful things we all have to replace in the cold. Batteries, blades, brakes, fluids, suspension...you name it! From now through the end of the year we will cut a little extra off the already awesome CR pricing just to give everyone a little bit better holiday season. Isn't that nice? So whatever you may need shoot me a PM on what you are looking for and the car/truck, you'll have a response back quickly! Thank you in Advance (See what I did there?) for your continued support!

I'll chuck up a vote for a 4 Runner, my 97 I have had for 4 years and driven the hell out of it with almost no problems at all. Currently at 202,000 she cranks drives and stops like a champ. That generation is an incredible machine whether you want to do it as a winter beater, off roader, whatever. MPG isn't great you are typically in the 15-19 range depending on driving. You should easily be able to find one of that generation for 4-5k -
Absolutely LOVE the purchase and the fact that you took this to school. The younger generations seem to have fewer and fewer wrench turners/gear heads so maybe seeing and touching this will motivate someone. Awesome opportunity for all involved. I can't imagine the rush that you are in for in the spring!

I have to travel this route every morning and evening, basically you wait. Find somewhere you can relax for a bit and let things "calm down". Now that they are doing construction on both 315 AND 23 at the same time...it's just generally going to suck even more than normal. Fortunately I get to work around 7am every day so the morning isn't too bad...but I won't even leave my store til after 6 there's basically no point. Oh, and don't wait too long, because they cut 23 down to 2 lanes after 9 Welcome to the lovely life of a North Ender! Been up here almost 14 years now and if we didn't have such ready access to everything I could need I would run for the hills

Hey Draco congrats on the new ride! Will have swing myself over to Sawmill one of these days here soon to check it out. One more thing for all your customers who stop by and ask "Who's car is that?"

CR Drag Day Fall '13 General Registration - SOLD OUT!
99StockGT replied to MrMeanGreen's topic in CR Track Days
There any fee to watch? Could swing out for a bit to enjoy some fast cars and exhaust fumes .. -
I was joking, well sort of But yes I would to get a few worked on myself I'll just bring them one at a time.
-
Are you limiting the amount of cars I can bring for this? Or can I just rent a car hauler for the day? Have a really complicated one on the hood of my stealth where I caught a chunk of ice back a few winters ago...dunno if that's fixable or not
-
Feelers are out to a few shops to ballpark me some costs, as long as it makes financial sense I think it's the way we'll go. Should give it a good different look, resolve my issues, and hopefully not ruin the car. Now...to Lambo Door or Not to Lambo Door... lol

I spent the majority of the event out on the patio enjoying the weather but did get some good eyeballing done on several very nice rides. Without the threat of rain the entire event before it finally opened up on us I think we would have had a better turn out and tire kicking crowd. Hopefully we made some good money for the cause though!
-
Lol left yourself some breaking in tools handy just in case huh? If I decide to do it I would definitely put the manual latch, I know my luck to well to trust it without. How long ago did you have yours done and where? I know plenty of good parts/tuning people but body work is something I have never had to deal with, fortunately/unfortunately? As far as I can tell nothing is missing. Hopefully some little gangster got his "Bustin into cars" merit badge.
-
Pretty solid turn out even with the weather. Hope everyone had fun and got home safe with the rain rolling in!
-
That's exactly what I was thinking. With how my luck is going these days I'll end up with a dead battery and my car sitting there laughing at me. Starting to sound like a pretty attractive option now...who's got a body guys they trust to do this kind of thing?
