The 18.5" Weber Smokey Mountain linked above, Here's how to light it in excruciating detail, with photos: http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/fireup2.html#minion Here's the short version: Fill the ring with coals Fill the chimney with coals Light chimney, drink a beer Dump it on, add food, walk away I don't use a water pan or anything of the sort; I run with the bottom vents closed, the top vent open. My smoker has been hit by a truck, so it's slightly out of round. It's been outdoors for four years, fills with rain etc - hasn't rusted. I'm convinced it's the best value out there. And I want you to have that. /pitch

We should set up a 'Tireswap' database. Maybe like the Game Exchange google doc in garage sale forum? I have a shed full of not-whole-sets I can't use. But I don't have a 225/45/17 that I can use. I had a puncture, drove it to the shop, and they won't put it back on (due to having run flat.) So, anybody got one?

Load it once and it's good for 16 hours. Give it a kick around 10 hour mark to shake the ash.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001I8ZTJ0 Buy once, cry once. I don't understand the push for electric/gas around here. Or if you want, go smaller / less $ http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FKE67V2 And if I'm not mistaken, the Saturday Liquidation place on Busch has one for a hundred bucks.

Mesquite's a strong, bitter smoke usually for beef (and/or you're a texan) Try some hickory, apple, or oak - they make for nice flavors in white meat. The 'thin blue smoke' advice above is right on - I'm not sure how well you can control an electric, but it's smoke from the actual combustion of the wood thatcha want (so no soaking them in water, that's smoldering)

I'm so sorry, Bill. She'll always be with you.

8/12: Got the sunroof going. I attached the G18 relay and Fuse 1 (25a). It'll go up and down, but the removal function isn't working without manual intervention. I can hear the motor clunk, but it's not able to retract the latch arms. Anyway, I took it off (by winding the motor, 8mm socket) and chased the drains. Both rear sunroof drain tubes were disconnected in the hatch, hopefully they're still attached in the roof. The hatch pin drains also were AWOL. I snaked the front sunroof drains and fuel door drain with weedwhacker line. Drove it on a beer run. Pardon the frequent updates, I'm blogging or something. 8/15: Drove it to work today, to take it to the tire shop on lunch. It's currently parked in a puddle of it's own power steering fluid. Wanna know the funny part? .. I'm no good with a standard trans 8/15: Hi Scott! I appreciate the replies. There's an echo in here sometimes Any idea where Herbie is today? I found the nuts atop the struts under the hood were loose and that did handle a bit of the clunking, (victory!) but I've got bunch more - I can see that the control arm bushings are flat, you're probably right about the ball joints. Ya know, sometimes it seems like all I really can do is throw parts at it, since every. single. thing. is worn out or dried up. I got shafted on the tires deal today - I called Discount Tire (Easton) on Monday for recommendations, they suggested the Altimax HP. Made me put a deposit. Fast forward to today, they failed to get the tires - failed to notify me - and failed to return the deposit. They tried to offer a set of Barum(?) in 205 at the same price, which I declined. Was looking forward to it all week, so a little bummer there. It's okay though - it's the weekend, and I'm still proud of my little jalopy. (cr: I want to use Derek for tires, but I also want a road hazard coverage)

Save yourself the click. If Mr. Gold's comment is accurate (minus the not being able to lift a car part) then they didn't have right-of-way and I'll tend to agree with him that some attention toward the dunce who jay-strolled three kids into the street be needed. See that happening daily on Morse Rd. (Obviously, nobody wants to see children injured and it's tragic regardless.)

Thanks! I ordered some General Ultimax HP in 215/60/15, the junkyard tires have got to go. There's some clunking around up front on bumps, so I'll need to go through the suspension. I've got the front sway off for bushings, so that'll go back in. I think everything in there is shot, and the shocks are toast too. The radiator's not tightly mounted, so I'll address that. I"m gonna work on removing the sunroof to chase the drains - I had water in my doors after the rain. Currently, I've got every non-critical fuse and relay out of the car. So when drivability is sorted, I'll go through and add them one by one, checking functionality on the way. There's a bare wire in the harness under the dash, and I'm not sure what it used to be -- so it'll be slow going there. I'm hoping it's related to this 'before' shot of the G17 relay, since the AC is now deleted: http://i.imgur.com/zvXL5Gp.jpgs

This place is insanely good for a foodie. Whatever it is, they have it. Too bad about the facilities though.. http://www.edpaffjr.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/IMG_4375-480x360.jpg ( jk, http://www.bookofjoe.com/2007/09/americas-best-r.html )

http://www.rei.com/product/831230/eureka-copper-canyon-6-tent I grabbed one of these during a sale, ended up around $225 I think. I'm 6'6" and like my breathing room, can stand up in there, put a queen airbed, and it still packs up like a camping chair. On the topic, get some of these things: http://www.amazon.com/ALPS-Mountaineering-Chair-Shoulder-Padded/dp/B001RLQNSO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Rated to 800 lbs, less crummy WalMart rivets. There are some quality duds there - Filson, etc.

My dad had a pair of hideous, rusty, power-nothing $300 70's Volvos, wish my young memory could figure out which ones - I'd snap one up.

Right, so I've addressed some issues.. Got a hood on it. It rained immediately thereafter. http://i.imgur.com/8bexbej.jpg Having climbed through the hatch at the gas station .. I converted some Mk2 Corrado door handles to fit and reinstalled. Had to do what basically amounts to a trigger job on the door mechanism, (no photo) to get them operating smoothly. http://i.imgur.com/qWe7lqs.jpg Hired some help to seat the torque tube and fit the exhaust. http://i.imgur.com/veAnevj.jpg While the help slacked off, I reinstalled the moronic unit and door card, repaired the window track. http://i.imgur.com/vnIncTg.jpg Then things got a little silly . . . http://i.imgur.com/Z6nGYrr.jpg
