Well, the guy came out - after an hour, he'd spent 4 blanks on the job, but I guess something's wrong with the cylinders. He asked that I remove the lock cylinders so he can diagnose or possibly re-key them in order to make a single master key for the car. In his defense, it's entirely possible that the locks are damaged, as I received the car with no key and the ignition switch dangling beneath the dash. Hopefully he can re-key it or whatever. He didn't charge for the trip and time.

Called 'Hightech' who couldn't be arsed whatsoever and flat out declined. Called 'Affordable 24 hour locksmith', also didn't give a shit - "we don't do those." Called 'Anytime' locksmith; $275 "because it's rare" (a member's Acura was $25.) Called 'Buckeye', talked to Robert. Cool guy, $100 bucks tomorrow morning, doesn't mind that the car's on jackstands. http://www.centralohiolocksmithkeymaker.com/ 614-634-4444 And there's my locksmith journey.

Years ago, I lost the key to my A4 and called a guy out - he was able to slap a blank key in the ignition, take it out and basically manufacture a new key right there on the spot. Put me out $70 and about 30 minutes, which I thought was really impressive. I need to find somebody who can do that for the Porsche - anybody know a good one?

Nexus 5. And if you're the type to mess with it, it's always up to date. Hell I'm running the Android L (5) preview.

Self Driver cars ( Advanced Cruise / Lane keep / Emergency breaking )
cybe replied to thorne's topic in Passing Lane
Ideally these folks who are completely uninterested in driving will take the 'google car' option, which should keep them packed nicely into the rightmost lane leaving the rest of the road open for [we] nonconformist maniacs. Besides, how fun will it be to make the nicely organized line of g-cars let you in by getting juuust a little 'too close' -

Hotwheels here too - nothing serious, just whatever I like. An upside down Renault? I'll buy that. A wagon of any variety? Yep. Ecto-1? Hell yes. I'm still keeping an eye out for the mars rover. Anything that's got the wrong wheels on it, bad paint, etc. I like the oddballs. When I was a kid, my Godfather (hint: Brooklyn) had some pretty amazing stuff. If you've seen 'It's a Wonderful Life,' the movie features his Cadillac collection and I believe his Rolls Hearse (he owned a funeral parlour..) Anyway, I pulled down some hundreds-of-dollars handcrafted wooden gift-from-a-client model car and started banging it around on chairs and whatnot. Mom was horrified. "Whaaat, it's toys - let 'im go." So I try to keep that philosophy. As a result, my 1-year old has exquisite taste in die-cast. =-\

I'd do this for sure if they were reloadable. Apparently the case rim is too small, (and it moves .1mm on firing because of the blowback action) As for the 22WMR, at thirty cents a click .. that's still pushing it IMO. The PMR30 is available now at NASR for ~550.

Anybody have experience with one of these? And can you talk me out of one

* I'll give better than they will for your brass. (9mm, 40sw)

You'll want to check and make sure that tank isn't tempered on teh side you intend to drill - some tanks are tempered on the bottom only, others all over, or only front glass, etc. Putting a hole in glass isn't that hard, you can buy a glass holesaw for your 30 bucks and DIY. http://i.imgur.com/khfva.jpg (before I catch any shit, one hole is higher than the others on purpose.)

Last stop, I removed the front brakes and hubs to tidy them up. Those are now here: Dust sheilds: http://i.imgur.com/kzC06GM.jpg Hubs: http://i.imgur.com/p0YDrfl.jpg Races: http://i.imgur.com/jNVS7j1.jpg Piston and pot were pretty funky: http://i.imgur.com/og0oCV8.jpg And what's old is new: http://i.imgur.com/dmTRw0L.jpg I've got some leaks to chase - power steering fluid from the rack, and coolant from the large hose exiting the water pump. The car will start and run/rev, but die at idle. It's open-headered at the moment. I see the oil pressure gauge peg at 5 bar while it runs .. I'm not sure if that's what I'm supposed to see, but I caught a post suggesting I swap the leads at the sensor, so I'll try that. I saw this example, which keeps me motivated: http://i.imgur.com/dpODXlD.jpg?1

I was only able to find Peach at Cabelas - other stuff available at random-chinese-hardware-store in chunks.
