  1. My wife has actually been pretty tolerant of my experiments. Although compared to most cable boxes its apparently easy to use. None of our guests ever seem to have trouble with it. The only minor annoyance is a separate remote to turn on the TV which I could work around with a serial cable if I *really* wanted to. All the menus are pretty intuitive, and I programmed the "power" button on the remote to kill all the pertinent processes and relaunch them. So if anything does go wonky it's a one button fix, at absolute worst I can SSH through my phone from anywhere I am and reboot the box. The MythTV recording side is rock solid though. I only ever had issues with it once and that was because of a PCI tuner card that was failing. I'm using a HDHomeRun network attached tuner now and it's easy to setup and the bonus is super short coax runs.
  2. I would just keep the BR player you have and buy a Roku. They work well and are constantly updated. SmartTVs and Players seem to maybe get one or two updates then the mfgs abandon them for next years models.
  3. I'm running a linux box with MythTV and using Kodi on all the remote "TVs" as a front end. I'm blessed with having no shortage of computer hardware to use as clients. My scheduling info comes in from SchedulesDirect for like $12 a year.
  4. As far as antenna choice hit http://www.antennaweb.org/ it will tell you what type of antenna to buy and where to point it. I use a DVR with OTA but unless you're a geek my solution is not something I'd recommend.
  5. I don't think a cage would have saved him sliding sideways into the pointy end of a barrier not meant for cars traveling that direction.
  6. Yep every Saturday rain or shine. Although if it's -5F we just sit inside and talk about cars...
  7. I was wondering the same thing. I did see this though: April 12, Sunday, Columbus Motor Speedway, Columbus, OH (AutoX school for Porsche Club members only) I was going to ask about it but I figured I'd wait and see if I have a car to drive first.
  8. It's going to be a nice spring Saturday. I'll pay the $3 to get it moving a couple hours earlier.
  9. I'm sure they'll sue whoever Crack Head Dave stole the gun from for not locking it up better.

    S6s

I'm disappointed they dropped the water resistance from the standard phones. Hopefully Verizon gets the S6 Active.
  12. OMG commercial use of a drone! Jackbooted FAA thugs in 3..2..1...
  13. Go into the App Info for Tapatalk (somewhere under your system settings) and Clear data for the app. Usually fixes most issues.
  14. No kids, only dogs so you may have to adapt this advice: 1. You will get the behavior expected by the most lenient disciplinarian. 2. When all else fails shock collar. The important issue is that you and your wife agree on what the "rules" are, and how strictly they are enforced. If you are fighting over what the rules are then any attempt to enforce the rules just hurts all the relationships. If your daughter likes the rules or follows them is way less important.
  15. People seem to either love Guard or hate it. My feelings on the color should be pretty clear here in a couple weeks: http://i.imgur.com/VRrrpgY.png?1
  16. I would avoid the 99-01 Silverados. I owned a 99 for 15 years, the brakes on that truck sucked when new and not much ever helped it. They changed things with the 01s that took care of the issues. Everything else was great on that truck though, had about 180k on it when I got rid of it (due to brake issues) and the engine was still a beast.
  17. If you just need B/W look into a cheap laser printer instead of an inkjet. They cost a little more (I think I paid $82 for the Brother I bought) but a toner lasts forever at home, and it doesn't dry out if you don't use it for a couple weeks like inkjets do. I've not printed for 6 months, flip the printer on, print a couple pages, turn it off for a couple more months. This is basically what I have: http://smile.amazon.com/Brother-HLL2300D-Monochrome-Laser-Printer/dp/B00NQ1CLTI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1426875053&sr=8-5&keywords=brother+laser
