  1. Holy crap, didn't realize control arms were such an issue on the G8s. Do the Camaro and CTSV that use the same platform have the same issue?

is there a permanent fix? or is it more of a replace defective part with more defective part kind of deal?

They supposedly "updated" them a while back, but you know how that goes.

  2. Stiffer springs, more robust frame, higher capacity trans/engine cooling, fuel tank large enough to go more than 150 miles between fuel stops, etc. etc. etc.

I've grown up with travel trailers and the difference in a half ton and a 3/4 ton truck (or 3/4 ton suburban) towing an 8 or 10k trailer is HUUUUGE. Not to mention you're not tearing up your equipment operating at the very threshold of its rated capacity.

Also, 12 hour trip with wife and 3 kids is a huge factor to consider. If you were going from Grove City to Deer Creek I'd say fuck it, roll the dice.

I know the differences, i work on them every day. I was just stating there is a lot more different than the engine.

  3. Saw this last night. 15-16 duramax with another $50k at least in it. Nastiest sounding diesel I have ever heard. Sadly he couldn't get it to spool properly.

  4. Fair response, I hope I wasn't coming off like an asshole.. but I have replaced some for this specific complaint and the problem is gone.. but I'm never just guessing at it, it's when you physically have play in one of the cv joints that I'd condemn the axle.. where do you work?

The only GM dealer in Zanesville. PM me for details.

  5. really? just curious is that your amateur opinion or do you do this stuff for a living?

When I can't see the car in front of me, that's my amateur opinion. Bring it to the shop where I can professionally diag it, and I'll give you my professional opinion.

I do most of the NVH concerns that come through our dealer and have never seen a CV axle cause a vibration. But not saying it isn't possible. And it wasn't a command, I forgot to put "i've" in my CV axle comment in the last post.
