  1. I find it annoying because it's supposed to be a music magazine. Why the fuck does every magazine need to report every detail on every terrorist ever known to man? Is good housekeeping going to run an article about him next week?

If the media would quit publicizing these dick bags and their causes then maybe they would quit doing this shit.

regarding the first part, rolling stone has never been solely about music, they have always had a focus on politics as well as general pop culture. they've been doing political reporting for YEARS... Hunter S. Thompson, Joe Klein, PJ O'Rourke, Matt Taibbi, Tim Dickinson, Janet Reitman... the list goes on.

now, they have definitely had much more of a music focus in the past years, but the political writings never went away completely.

for the second part, i really doubt that terrorists motives are to get on the cover of a magazine... but who knows, i guess ANYTHING is possible... i feel that their motives are usually much more political than that, and that most could really care less about media coverage.

Rolling Stone chooses to go with a fluff pic to glorify what?  How this guy became deluded and misguided somewhere along the way?

That cover was done in bad taste, period, and only proves how the magazine is becoming irrelevant.

Well, first, its a photo that has been used in MULTIPLE other news reports but I haven't seen any outrage for them...

Second, the subtitle of the article clearly says: How a popular, promising student was failed by his family, fell into radical islam and became a monster so yeah, i'd guess that's what the article is about.

I doubt it's painting him in a good light. It's most likely talking about how he got to this point. Is that not something worth knowing? I think its important to learn how the minds of killers function, and how they got to such a dangerous place and frame of mind.  it makes us informed, and it can definitely help us take precautions in the future. precautions either in how we interact with people, or what kind of warning signs to look for. knowledge is power is it not?

personally, i feel that if you  look at this picture and see a glamourized celebrity instead of a monster, then it isn't rolling stone who has the problem. its YOU.  (i do not mean you personally, just the general you)

I kind of agree with what  Eric Wemple from the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2013/07/17/to-rolling-stone-detractors-please/) wrote (bold emphasis mine)

*Presumably the protesters would have a tabloid treatment in which Rolling Stone would place horns on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Perhaps that would have made this nonsense go away.

*This is good journalism, as the photo depicts the same Dzhokhar Tsarnaev that The Post and the New York Times — and others — depicted in deeply reported pieces. That is, a regular, good guy with friends, interests and activities — a “joker,” even.

*Showing this alleged bomber in his full humanity makes him appear even more menacing.

*Some are saying that Rolling Stone is exploiting this image — this story — for commercial gain. Well, Rolling Stone is a magazine. It exploits all its stories for commercial gain, some more effectively than others.

  2. lol way to judge a magazine by its cover.

i saw a bunch of people on twitter crying about rolling stone... and to be honest, i don't really get it... so we can't show a photo of this guy ever now?

where was the outrage when every TV news network was showing his photo ad nauseum? or when the NYT used the exact same photo on their front page? where is your phony outrage at EVERY FUCKING NEWS OUTLET showing a picture of the RS cover?

where was your fake indignation when this TIME issue came out?

    time_mcveigh.jpg

    or this one

    xEOnovf.jpg

    or this Life magazine?

    lifedeathmanson2.jpg

if you skip past the bieber and zac efron shit, there are lots of well written and thought provoking articles in rolling stone. they are one of the few media outlets still doing real in depth investigative journalism. its just ridiculous to me that people are crying about this and they haven't even read the article yet... are they mad because he doesn't look how we expect a "terrorist" to look? brown skin with a turban?

  3. none of my mod's affect the engine or suspension or useability or driveabiity of the bike.

right, which is exactly why they don't increase the value of the bike.

the truth is, no one cares about an HID swap, a mazda horn or LED's. those are just superfluous mods that no one really cares about. the pipe is about the only thing that may add any value, and still that does not add very much at all since 80% of other SV's for sale will have a pipe too. I

for mods to ADD value to the bike, they really have to ADD to the bike... for example:

    http://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/101702-fs-2012-suzuki-gsxr600-ama-dsb-spec-race-bike/

im not trying to be a dick or anything, so dont take it the wrong way. your bike looks pretty clean, but the fact of the matter is that LED's and a mazda horn don't increase the value of a bike that much.

  4. . The video doesn't show how the dog "hit" on the car. Just jumping doesn't mean that is his alert. Some dogs sit, lay, bark, scratch, etc. This would be backed up by training records and any other K9 searches.

both parties are at fault. Driver for being difficult, officer for being a jerk. The officer could have gone about his interview in a less aggressive and intimidating way and the driver probably would have relaxed on proving a point.

my main thing with the dog is how does anyone know that the dog is actually "hitting" and not just responding to a cue from the handler? you cant subpoena the dog to ask him... it's a tool to make up a reason to search the car when you don't really have any reason in the first place. "oh yup. the dog alerted!"... i mean, hell they didnt find any drugs in this guy's car but the dog was "alerting". so either the handler is lying or the dog is not reliable.

speaking of unreliable, i remember seeing a study that said of the cases they looked at, drugs were only found in less than half the searches where the dog "hit". if i can find it ill post it up.

i guess my biggest thing with the video was the end where the cops are saying "it wasnt even a good alert" "he's totally innocent"... if it was a bad alert, and you know he's innocent why the f are you detaining him and searching his car? just to jam him up bc he was being a butt? is that how good cops are supposed to operate?

  5. pretty sure no front plate is a primary offense and you can be stopped for it.

that page  spells out exactly  what "secondary offenses" mean:

    B) As used in this section, "secondary traffic offense" means a violation of division (A) or (F)(2) of section 4507.05, division (B)(1)(a) or (b) or (E) of section 4507.071, division (A) of section 4511.204, division © or (D) of section 4511.81, division (A)(3) of section4513.03, or division (B) of section 4513.263 of the Revised Code.

those sections mentioned are things like temp permit violation, restraint violation, not having your headlights on etc.

  6. Chris correct me if I'm wrong but the only thing you can be cited for at a dui check point is a dui at least I'm pretty sure that's how it is inOhio. So unless he suspected him of being drunk he should of been sent on his way. As far as the ID goes, you do not have to surrender your ID unless you have commited or suspected of comming a crime. Since this was a dui check point and since all they are allowed to check for is dui and since they never said the think he was ssuspected of being drunk he shouldn't of had to surrender his I'd either.

they cite people for EVERYTHING at them. if you look at the stats, they usually get like 1 or 2 DUIs . then they write 700 tickets for no front plate, expired tags, etc etc etc

its basically just a way for them to stop tons of people that they otherwise would have no good reason to stop, write tickets and generate revenue.

the dog is nothing more than a way for the cops to get probable cause to search your car they have none. just like you can see in the video,  the handler simply claims that the dog is "alerting" him (because he just told it to sit or something) and boom, they search your car.  so curious how they find no drugs or anything though... dog must have been confused apparently. good dog.

as for the ID, in ohio at least, if you are operating a motor vehicle, then im pretty sure you're required to produce your license upon request.

  7. Officer: do you know why I pulled you over?

If your answer is anything other than... I do not know..

    You deserve the ticket.

Don't answer any questions, don't ask amy questions, save all that for court.

you gotta beat him to the punch. as soon as he walks up you say "good morning/afternoon/evening officer, why did you stop me?"

then he doesn't get to play his little game of "do you know why i pulled you over?"

  8. adjusting your diet can really help out a lot. aim for 30 grams of fiber a day and lots of water. at least 2 litres per day. 3 would be better.  water will soften your stuff making it easier to pass, and straining is the last thing you want to be doing.

try to avoid soda, alcohol and caffeine as much as you can. those things will dehydrate you, and you want to be hydrated.

avoid stuff that you know causes irritation or gives you the runs. try to avoid fatty greasy stuff as much as you can too. fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains etc are good at keeping symptoms down. stay away from fast food as much as you can too.

exercise also helps too.  try to get at least 30 min of moderate intensity a  day. you dont have to hit the gym and start pumping iron even... take a short jog, go for a nice walk or go for a bike ride if you can.

check around on the internet there is lots of good info about hemorrhoids and diet.

  9. I know someone cited for reckless op at 15 over. Judge dismissed it and told him unless it was 20 over or more, reckless op wasn't in play which is what I was basing my comment on

Sorry Don if you thought I wasn't chill...but you don't wanna see MexiHulk mad though

ohio has no statutory regulation as to what defines reckless operation. the only thing the law says is this:

4511.20 Operation in willful or wanton disregard of the safety of persons or property.

    (A) No person shall operate a vehicle, trackless trolley, or streetcar on any street or highway in willful or wanton disregard of the safety of persons or property.

speed, traffic conditions, location etc can all be considered, and you can be cited on public or private property.

  10. A) Your post is back. Another reason I love this software. I can bring things back after being deleted. Giggity.

    B) Ah, yeah I didn't bring those over. I'll send it to you when I can, then you can just upload it as a custom avatar. I was storing like 2k avatars that were barely being used. Figured we'd just go completely custom. No site defaults.

Awesome. Yea i did a very short google seach but could not find the same one. I had that one since like 06 when i signed up after seeing the forum on cr lol.

Also gotta say im viewing on mobile now and the site looks great! Loads super fast too.

  11. You're not nuts. I hit delete on the mobile site on accident. I'm still learning this software too. :)

Almost all avatars came across. Those who's avatars didn't will have to reset them. Most likely this was caused by externally hosted avatars instead of uploaded avatars. There where less than a dozen out of over 8k.

haha yeah i thought maybe thats what happened...

my avatar was one of the pre-loaded ones from the old site.

    the URL was: http://www.ohioriders.net/images/avatars/evil/Skull.gif

do you still have those anywhere?
