Just throwing money at HP isn't the best solution. 12GB ram? Holy fuck. Between Alex and I we don't even have 12 GB ram in the entire house! With that kind of budget get: A core i7 proc 4-6GB ram (depending on cpu config) nVidia GT-xxx or GTX-xxx for CUDA, which can offload work from the CPU in more areas than just graphics A 128GB or larger SSD to use as a BOOT drive 2TB HDD to use as a STORAGE drive And a nice monitor.

This is a failure of a product. All apple did was take an iPod and blow it up to 9.7". I will not buy this. This should have been a full fleged computer running OSx.

What motherboard and case are you looking at? For a Clarksdale CPU you'll need an H55/H57 chipset, and Newegg doesn't sell and of those in micro ATX. But I haven't done any other searching. I'm wanting a HTPC and I'm going back and forth between building one, or just buying an Atom 330 Acer Aspire Revo with nVidia Ion.

Here's a good article about the clarksdale CPUs. The Charts at the bottom should be the most useful to you. The core i5 661 sounds like your man! But, basically they said this: horribly under powered for gaming, works well for HD video.

This belongs to a coworker. He's got a barely used (not hacked, not banned) xbox 360. I'm pretty sure it's non-HDMI. 20GB hdd, 2 wireless controllers. Games: Guitar Hero World tour with guitar, drums, mic. Assassin's Creed, Madden 2010, Tiger Woods 2010. $300 for all of it or trade for Wii + extras. He'd prefer to sell it as a whole kit.

Agree. 90% of offers I've had for an item on CL have been low ball offers. Any offer higher or wanting to pay with paypal/check is likely a scam. I will only do cash for a CL sale, and I always carry when I meet for the exchange. I'm somewhat interested in the MacBook.
