  1. its not like we ever use them anyways. we converted them both over to gas and they pretty much go unused. but every house has something thats not that great, mine is the fire places.
  2. that was a picture of before we bought the house. every outlet, switch and plate has been changed to white in the entire house. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs256.snc1/10322_266016035276_537465276_8976590_98173_n.jpg
  3. yes you need some sealant around the edge. i like using GM engine sealant because its the best stuff out there. Permatex gasket maker in the metal can is a very close second. you need as big of socket that will fit inside the freeze plug and a hammer. it doesn't take much to put them in so go slow.
  4. not many shops will touch it because they can't warranty it.
  5. the bed room was 8'x9'5" so it was small. we still have 3 other bed rooms. i have an upstairs fire place like that too. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs256.snc1/10322_266014010276_537465276_8976564_4154299_n.jpg
  6. i've done big rooms before before but not a room this size i don't want to do it. i'll have it done so it will take less time.
  7. the basement is my winter project. i started on it to get my fish tank up and running and kind just worked on it here and there after that last winter. the entire basement was rewired because how they had it was a fire hazard. 16 new can lights and a few rolls of wire 11 new oulets 8 new switches. these are the pictures from when we bought the house. painted drop ceiling and painted wood paneling done very shotty a long time ago. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs256.snc1/10322_266014040276_537465276_8976570_1709361_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs404.ash2/68252_10150324764335277_537465276_15957354_4063779_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs276.snc1/10322_266014030276_537465276_8976568_2470444_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs802.snc4/68254_10150324764290277_537465276_15957352_2434591_n.jpg we tore out the "bed room" that was there and moved the wall back http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1203.snc4/155502_10150324777495277_537465276_15957715_6201511_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1234.snc4/156609_10150324777540277_537465276_15957716_3841287_n.jpg then built a new wall for the fish tank http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs734.ash1/162822_10150324777690277_537465276_15957719_7727599_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs598.ash2/155084_10150324786370277_537465276_15957970_2425193_n.jpg then moved onto the east wall http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs027.snc3/11443_313251895276_537465276_9662334_6726401_n.jpg put in a closet http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1356.snc4/162855_10150324779355277_537465276_15957776_6799006_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1366.snc4/163878_10150357494275277_537465276_16610288_1144921_n.jpg at this point we put the project on hold because of the water issue. we had a few things to work on outside and inside to help with the water issue. see here http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83069 and here http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87585 with our water issue fixed we got back into the basement project to get it finished this winter. DRYLOC on the wall that had the biggest water issue just in case. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs765.ash1/165617_10150357494115277_537465276_16610282_8264754_n.jpg then me and my dad hung the rest of the dry wall. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs773.ash1/166363_10150357493935277_537465276_16610277_3890006_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/hs020.snc6/167020_10150357494190277_537465276_16610285_8279232_n.jpg the dry walls not done, still needs the corner edge and mud work done. then some hard wood floors and paint and we'll be done and onto the basement bathroom project, then utility room floor, then guest bathroom. stay tuned lol.

i cleaned up this thread. keep in mind this is a project thread not a sale thread so lets please keep it that way.
  22. i didn't say anything about a leak down test. i pointed out that that just because a head gasket is blown doesn't mean it will over heat (internal blow not leaking on the ground blown). i stated fact in a manner which wasn't hostile in anyway just informative.
