  1. Our house is electric heat and the bills this season have been outrageous, so much so that i'm going to be looking into the cost of running a gas line from the street (previously we thought there was no line) and replacing the furnace (that's barely 5 years old anyway).

    RIP Hollywood

I've always loved the experience of going to the movies. I think it's b/c we never did it growing up so when we did it was a very special occasion so as an adult i would go every Sunday and see a movie and i did that for a long time. But there are some movies that just NEED to be seen in a movie theater, for instance I went to see Tenet in movies a few weeks ago. I was one of two people in the entire theater but it was a great Christopher Nolan flick (if not a bit confusing). That being said I can really see my self actually investing in some high quality home theater equipment in the near future. With even big movies going direct to streaming services and even some shows and movies being just on streaming services it's pretty obvious. oh and one of my favorite franchises was the Matrix Trilogy, I have no idea why they'd make a Matrix 4, it was pretty obvious the franchise concluded in Matrix 3 but i'll definitely see it regardless.
  3. "no rust that i can see... b/c i didn't really look"
  4. LOL holy shit i was thinking it was an extra foot or two so you could get out of your car easier, not a god damn landing pad.

    Issue 2

    welp... that passed overwhelmingly.
  6. haha this is comical, we back up to a park and the deer can do a standing jump directly over that park chain link fence, doesnt seem to stop them at all. Carl, how much bigger is your new driveway exactly? are we talking like 6in wider than original or like an entire car parking spot?

    Issue 2

Just curious what people think about this. It's hard for me to see a negative to having a civilian oversight committee for CPD. I really expected to see a better argument from the 'con' side than, "well the mayor just needs to deal directly with the FOP". WTF? Aside from the obvious arguments of civilians who've never done the job will be telling officers HOW to do the job. Does a civilian oversight committee create policy for CPD to abide by? or do they just investigate possible wrong doing? https://app.dispatch.civicengine.com/v/measures/3604
  8. As much as i hate to say it, you might be best served to kiss a little ass at the beginning of this process rather than come on strong with the "prove it" mentality (ie "show me in the covenant where it states my driveway has to be a certain width" etc... etc... etc...). I wonder how that would be worded in a contract? "everyones house has to be symmetrically similar to the neighboring home" ? i doubt there will be lines that give exact measurements on every ones driveway right? how much bigger is your driveway? We were extremely lucky to purchase in a neighborhood HOA that is run by the best people you'd want to call your neighbors. We were told when we moved in that the current president let any legal claim to the homes lapse on purpose b/c even they disagreed with overzealous HOA's. I have no idea if this is true or if its even possible but when I built our shed last year no one knocked on our door asking me to take it down, its a nice enough shed though.

    Ammo Shortage

So a guy on my hockey team recommended a website wikiarms.com and they showed a ton of outlets with stock on the most common ammunition. I'm sure plenty of people know about this site but its the first I've heard of it and was really happy to find some companies with plain 9mm range ammo in stock. Now i can stop calling cabelas and field and stream every week. Happy shooting fellas.
  10. Looks like fun, we have friends in Utah and try to visit every year. We did Arches last visit, way cooler than i expected. some part of that hiking trail are SKETCHY.
  11. Not at all, and there's no irrattional fear. It's more of part of being a new parent for the first time. She's never cared about my handgun on the nightstand before but now its, making sure plug covers are on all the outlets and buying strollers and foam padding for the fireplace which apparently we need?! alot of changes are happening in our home, this is just one of them.
  12. No kids.... yet. that will change January 9th. Regardless, it's just the responsible thing to do. I don't have an issue with it as long as it's easily accessible. I'm not a huge fan of digital locks or codes unless they have some sort of key or analog backup. I did look at a few today, the Fort Knox received good reviews but its huge, heavy and expensive.
  13. So I typically keep my glock19 in my night stand in a holster. Wife has been on me to move to a more secure storage system (we dont have any children in the house yet) and I tend to agree. What do you guys use? I would like to keep it somewhat accessible in an emergency but still secure.
  14. umm... am i the only one that wants to hear more about this Rex Delta?
  15. Exactly what i was going to say. My wife has wanted a boat for years, to me a boat is just a $25k toy (maybe more?) that will sit in her dads barn for 349 days a year. I think I could convince her on a side by side though. Either way, they're all expensive but they're a blast. Fuck I'd love to rip around on one of those things.
  16. Just curious, what do you guys use to mark/ID your mags at the range? I've seen some people spray paint the bottom, some put their initials, some number them. I was thinking white out might work but it would just chip off eventually. While shooting last weekend i realized there were three G19's on the table and multiple mags everywhere. would just be nice to keep mine in order.
  17. saw it in theaters (damn... remember those? crazy) and thought it was pretty good. I'll see any movie. Similar to Snatch in alot of ways but still good.
  18. Every time i ride in a newer accord I always appreciate how nice they are. for a daily driver its perfect. Esp if you have some more pressing financial concerns to deal with.
  19. We go white water rafting down there and camp for the weekend. Always an awesome trip.
  20. Right before covid i started taking Muay Thai classes, loved it and still do. They just recently reopened the gym but i have yet to go back, my wife is still a nervous about the whole covid situation but I want to go so I'm sure i'll return in the next week or two. Other than that I purchased a kettle bell and a heavy bag for the basement and I can get a way better workout out of those two items in my basement than any gym membership. I like the challenge of putting together a workout with the least amount of gear possible. The ice rinks finally opened up again so I'll start skating again also. I think its important to choose hobby's that make you work as you get older. I love playing hockey and for the most part staying active... but I also love cheese steaks so there's that.

    Masterclass

I listen to ALOT of audiobooks and podcasts at work everyday. I've thought about a Masterclass, there was one in economics that actually looked really interesting but i think it was $99. It was a bit naive of me to think they would be cheaper i suppose.
  22. Try calling the Hilliard store. When i was there last the owner said hew as trying to set up online purchases and curbside pickup. Not sure if they're doing it now but its worth a shot. Their usual price is 1$ per pound also.
  23. I have found these items in dollar stores. It's hit and miss of course, some places will have one thing but nothing else, etc... You can try and call the store to find out what day they get their truck, arrival of these trucks can be erratic but wait a few hours for it to be offloaded and that's the best time to stop by for high demand items like TP.
  24. We have a small amount of water seepage getting into one corner of the basement during heavy rains. Right now its manageable with a dehumidifier and a little cleanup but it shouldn't be happening. Can anyone recommend a company to fix such issues? I made appointments with Basement Dr and EveryDry for free consultations so far but if anyone has experience good or bad with a company let me know. Thanks. (disclaimer: I thought another member mentioned something like this a while back but after a search no threads came up.)
