i liked it, but i like most sci fi stuff. I'm really interested in Cloverfield Paradox, I heard there was going to be a third and final movie in that series but nothing else. Apparently Netflix quietly bought the rights and made the movie, it was a total surprise when they released it last night after the superbowl. Pretty cool. There's no way traditional Hollywood could've done such a thing.

Adam's rambling thread about lowering Student Loans, Taxes, ect.
HotCarl replied to iwashmycar's topic in Dumpster
I have heard of people refinancing through SoFi but there aren't as many benefits? Maybe you can't write off the interest or something so, something to keep in mind. Holy Shit, I can't imagine paying that much every year for for a decade on something I don't live in. Probably one of the only intelligent decisions I made in my early twenties was to not take out a shit load of loans. -
1. That screen is fucking enormous. 2, Every time I see a Ram i think "cheapest (made) of the big three, rust". 3. The first photo i saw I instantly thought it looked like a Tundra.

Alex keep us updated, I'm interested to know what the outcome is and how much digging you have to do to get some answers? I fear going to the Dr for anything serious for this very reason and I have great insurance and a healthy HSA to help with costs. I wonder if they'll give you much info over the phone if you just call and contest that portion of the bill?

Finally watched Get Out last night, solid. I really liked it and the twist at the end.

I enjoyed star wars, but I'm far from a purist so I'm pretty open minded about what it was going to be. My only standard was if I was entertained or not. Dunkirk was good but way more... "artistic" than I thought it would be. Alien:covenant was good. All in all, nothing was amazing really but some pretty good ones. Unfortunately I never saw Get Out or Baby Driver, and Disaster Artist looks terrible.

So they sent you a letter THREATENING to sue? Was there an ultimatum attached? "we'll sue you unless you remove all social media posts etc...." ? If not, who cares? And if so you could call their bluff. As mentioned before, online defamation lawsuits aren't very successful so I would question if they really want to spend the time and money on it? Just curious, were there other bad reviews also? Anything remotely similar to your experience? Such as the owner being a complete asshole? I too would like to know the restaurant, not to contact them of course but to look up their social media reviews.

That's exactly what I want to hang in the office. Already have a signed Lidstom and working on getting a signed Bob jersey to hang also.

That's pretty cool. I want some vintage islanders stuff for the home office. As for what I received, Two Bauer hockey sticks (Nexus 1N), some clothes, Bean Boots (despite being slightly too big I love them), some clothes, gift card to Duluth Trading, etc... Was really hoping for a new circular saw but thats ok. Even better was the reaction from giving the gifts this year. All the kids were super happy about theirs, got the GF a new front porch swing (which I now have to install), clothes, some other stuff I dont remember off of the top of my head. Overall a successful Christmas.

I agree with the above, Germany might be a stretch to do on short time schedule. Have you looked into flights? Ryan Air (no relation) has dirt cheap trips within the UK and Europe, like under 100$. I think I remember a friends saying she flew from Paris to London for like 80$/pounds but I could be wrong. I know inter-UK flights are always dirt cheap. I recommend Harrods in London for tea. You should do tea, to get the full experience. Just think of it as a fancy, really small, lunch with your pinky up the entire time. I dressed in typical american touristy stuff (polo and khaki shorts) and didn't feel too out of place. Put some collated cream on your scone and go to town. That shit is fucking great. It's like a heavier, fancier, cool whip. Its also a good spot to do some shopping or just browsing. They have an insane "food court" for lack of a better word. Like all fresh meats, prepared food that you can eat right away or take home to your hotel and stuff you typically can't find at your typical grocery. I don't know if your a beer guy or like IPA's or anything. I'll just say have an open mind. Try some of the cask ales, the stuff you've never heard of. I wasn't a huge fan of warm beer but I'm glad I tried it. Oh and we paid for a double decker bus tour, I kinda wish we stayed on it longer. It took you to all the areas of the city and gave a historical run down of each. I enjoy that kind of stuff though. Oh and get fish and chips... from anywhere. Have fun!

My gf's family is from there (mom's side) so we went last summer and had a great time. However it was the hottest day since 1976 or some such nonsense and absolutely NO building we visited had AC. You were lucky to find a cab with AC. Luckily that won't be an issue for you. We did the Eye, I hated it but only because I fucking hate heights. We toured the Olympic park which was cool, there's a tower in the middle of the park called the ArcelorMittal Orbit, or just Orbit for short. Go to the top and ride the slide down it's a blast. We took a boat tour on the Thames, that was cool. Probably one of my favorites was just exploring, there are so many little parks tucked away that have been there for 100's of years. We also spent some time in the countryside because her family has a cottage there still. It's nice and quiet. I do remember Londoner's being very friendly, that was unexpected for some reason but everyone was cool. I drank in several pubs that are older than the United States. Talked to bartenders about the history of the buildings. Every pub has a trap door, most just got concrete floors in the last 50 years because it wasn't even invented when the pub was built. oh and be prepared to duck everywhere you go. Timber was an expensive commodity back then so all structures were built with very low head clearance. I'm an average 6' tall and the ceiling beams were 5" lower than my head everywhere we went. Of course if you're just staying in London most buildings are very modern so you might not see that at all. The English love their puns, talking about Trump and I was mistaken for a Canadian a few times. One bartender apologized when I said I wasn't, "you're not offended I called you a canadian?" "No, not at all." "Oh well they're offended when we call them American!" "K"

Just curious why you're not considering the new van options? Dodge Ram Van, Ford transit vans, I think Chevy has come out with new work vans, even Mercedes Benz is trying to get into the market with work vans. I use them at my second job occasionally and it's like night and day compared to the old chevy/GMC 2500 vans. Literally redesigned from the ground up and they're so much more comfortable. Then again, if you'd rather have a truck just because... its a truck and not a van. Totally understandable.

Most likely you'll need some sort of ID (military, va, etc...) i would call the ticket office 1-800-840-9227 to be sure. If its anything like student rush tickets (which I usually buy) at the beginning of the season they'll be very stringent about checking then as to the season goes on they will relax their standards a bit on checking id's. Even if they don't offer the discount of have stopped (which I think they still offer it) you can subscribe to get the student rush tickets and borrow someones id if you don't have one.

Years ago my brother and I visited my mom in Birmingham Alabama when she was doing contract work for a bank down there (BBVA i think?) I remember her complaining that, "we can't find anyone who wants to work, we're offering 25$/hour for simple testing jobs that anyone can do and no ones wants to do them." She continued saying how its everyone, its a complete different culture. I thought she was just annoyed until we went out to run errands and get lunch. Took us an hour just to pick up a piece of furniture. Not to shop, not to buy, just to pick up a piece that was already purchased and waiting for us at the store. Absolutely no one is in a rush to do ANYTHING.

Couldn't agree with you more. Even completing little projects I get a huge sense of satisfaction. Since we moved into this house 5 months ago the masterbedroom door has never closed correctly and thus wouldn't lock. Not a huge deal but it annoyed me every night when I shut the bedroom door. Finally tonight i got the tool box out and fixed it. Boom, done, finally. No more feeling annoyed until I find something else that becomes my newest pet peeve. As for relaxing, I work late every night so I usually take a shower, then try some simple breathing exercises while laying in bed. This may sound dumb but I think of it as "breathing out the day", after that its time to recharge and start a new one. Sometimes I pray, sometimes I just think about the day. I try to stay off my phone or away from any screen up until bed.

I think home depot sells a turkey fryer (huge pot with a propane burner) for like $40 maybe? not too expensive and i think it took us about 45 min to do our turkey last year but don't quote me on that.
-
1. tv is a great idea! 2. how do you do the different flavors?
-
We fried one last year and we will do it again this year. with 14 guests a 15lb turkey probably won't be enough so we're having a large ham also. Mace noted the biggest risk, make sure the turkey doesn't displace too much oil or you'll have a HUGE (and dangerous) mess. My recommendation would be to do two smaller ones but of course it would take longer cooking two turkeys one at a time but then you wouldn't have to worry about cooking all the way through.

Looking for a female, black lab for a Christmas present (timeline isn't too important, so if the puppy isn't ready to go to its new home until after Christmas not a big deal). Prefer not to buy from a puppy mill so smaller mom & pop outfits are what I'm looking for. Anyone have any first or second hand experience working with someone?

Completely agree. I'm far from a soccer fan but anytime a city loses a team or organization it usually reflects badly for the city.

I have a good friend in corp. real estate his take is, "cbus will make a final list but ultimately wont win the bid. But just the fact that cbus made the short list will expose the city and area to other companies looking to relocate and in turn get that business." Apparently it's happened before in other industries just not on this scale of course (50k jobs averaging 100k annually). The only downside I can see is home prices skyrocketing, especially in places like UA, Dublin, Bexley (albeit on a smaller scale) and to a lesser extent Worthington, Clintonville. Yeah the campus is suppose to house the workers but how many of those worker's will have families and want their kids in good schools etc...

Gotta save that arena district area for the next Amazon HQ anyway.
-
My guess is Crew ownership wants to be in or around Arena district similar to the other two sport stadiums. Not an easy task, property values are soaring down there and there's not exactly a lot of acreage to choose from.

I've had a similar conversations with CBJ fans in the past. Most are realist in saying that until a major pro sport wins MULTIPLE championships it won't be on the same level (locally) as OSUFB. Add to the fact that soccer, much like hockey and maybe even moreso, is a total niche sport and you're fighting an uphill battle. CBJ recognized this years ago and this is why they will never schedule a game the same time as an OSUFB game and definitely not a home game at that. The more I read about Precourt and how he angled this "deal" the more it seems that the deal is already done with Austin. oh well.

Don't forget concerts, the state fair may be able to attract some bigger names with a larger venue than the building they use on the fairgrounds now. Not that this is ideal but it's at least making the best out of a shitty situation. They could always petition MLS for an expansion franchise but not sure how that would work?
