  1. That marathon isn't far from me at all so that would be cool. The rain in Indy isn't supposed to make it over this far so it should make for some gret riding weather.
  2. I might still be up for going if you are as well. I do know for sure that the last thing I wanted to do was ride when I got home after being at class that day Saturday. lol Was real hot when I was there though.
  3. Some are just too loud period. And the riders with real loud exhausts don't seem to have any consideration for those around them.
  4. You can change the options not to send you an email in the User CP > Options > Default Thread Subscription Mode. I had thought there might be an option for the user to chose but I can't find it. Maybe Ben or someone with more recent experience with vB can shed some light.
  5. Absolutely. Yeah it annoys me just how weak the horns are on bikes.
  6. I don't remember for sure but vBulletin might auto subscribe you to threads you start (maybe even post to) by default.
  7. It's an RSS feed. On a lot of sites you can find a link that says RSS that will allow you to subscribe to a feed. I have the RSS feed to my FireFox Live Bookmarks in my browser so I click MotoGP EN on my tool bar and down drops those headlines. Definitely a great add to the site.
  8. Dayton I think has several paintball places. Been awhile since I've played tough.
  9. The lady, who was Hispanic, thought it sounded pretty. Was a fun conversation to listen to.
  10. That's funny. When i was a rad tech, I walked in on a nurse trying to explain to a couple why they may not want to name their daughter Placenta.
  11. vBulletin is great. My only real suggestion right now would be an increased timeout. Hate how short the default is for vB. Templates/themes are cool if you are up for putting in the work so they all fit and are different enough to be worth it. The embedded quotes thing is annoying and something vB should limit the number of. Like two maybe as default to help keep a conversation in context. I'd remove custom titles too. I've always kind of liked just having "earned" titles.
  12. That's a lot of driving. Don't think I could handle that much time in a vehicle. I only put 35-40k a year on my car and I can't handle even that. lol I've heard those stories before. People have to look and find you for it to be any good. In most circumstances the noise isn't directional enough to tell them where you are. Like people hunting in their mirrors for a siren. Unless of course you're behind the bike where the pipe noise is actually exiting. I'm glad it worked out between you and the truck, but you at least have to consider it may have been coincidence that he looked when you rev'd your engine. I'll have to disagree though...I'd rather see you and know exactly where you are, then hear you first and have to look and find out where you are. In the end it doesn't matter sometimes. You will always have those drivers that won't know you are there no matter what.
  13. Was hoping it was vBulletin you were going to if you were making that big a change. Good work man.
  14. I know, if everyone rode a Kawasaki the world would be blissfully happy! Maybe if it were a Honda...it's what the nicest people you meet are riding.

    MSF Course

I don't know. I thought the same thing at first and realized I could apply that to anything really. It's also a bit unfair to think she is either not capable as being as safe or as good a rider as me or that she could be thinking the same thing and still lets me ride because I like to.
  16. Those videos are funny. There's another where he decides to sell it.
  17. That'd be AWESOME! I have nothing to play paintball with though. Plus you guys have us a wee-bit out numbered. Quality over quantity brother. Those Columbus bitches are gonna need all the help they can get.

    MSF Course

The ERC is supposed to be sort of like the BRC, but with your own bike and a co-rider if you want. The topics are supposed to be similar and done on a "range". I'm not sure what it is they are doing in Xenia. To kind of add to my earlier post...The American Honda place in Troy has dedicated ranges for the MSF and Dirt Bike Schools. It's not used for anything else. The bikes they use are replaced new every year also. We tried to do walk-ins last year for a couple of other courses and they were held in places like parking lots for the riding portions. Seems almost like night and day to me. Not sure how they are held other places. This was supposed to be more for the wife than for me. Hopefully I can get her butt into the course sometime this year still. Unfortunately they book real quick out there. I definitely plan on making a few track days eventually.

  20. +1 Personally I think after gear one of the first things a person should buy or download is the Service manual for their bike. but you are getting the a big -1 on the loud pipes save lives myth bs. I got no probs with a nice sounding exhaust, but there is zero evidence that loud pipes make you safer and have proven to have negative affect on motorcycling in general. Aside from noise pollution, these loud pipes can prevent the rider from hearing things such as sirens or a motorcyclist's/driver's horn. On top of that the constant loud noise can cause fatigue over time. I could go on about why "loud pipes save lives" is a myth, but work calls. If you want more info about why it's a myth, Google is your friend. edit: unless you are being sarcastic..then never mind.

    MSF Course

So this past weekend I did the MSF Course at American Honda in Troy. Originally the idea was the wife was supposed to get her permit and sign up for the course and I would do it with her. She planned a trip to visit family the weekend of the course, so I stayed and went anyway. Great course and great facilities. I had done the Dirt Bike School here last year with my oldest and that's what made us choose there for the BRC. I honestly didn't expect to get a whole lot out of it, but I learned TO DO more than I thought I would. What I mean by that is even if it's something I knew I should be doing the course helped make sure I was doing it during the exercises. I think I definitely took somethings away from it and will probably be going back for the experienced riders course. If you haven't taken it, I would suggest it. As long as you go into it with an open mind I think even the most experienced rider can pick something up. It's only $25 at the American Honda course and there are groups like the HRCA and Harley's Owners Group (H.O.G.) that will reimburse you the course fee if you are a member.
  22. I might be up for a ride Saturday afternoon.
