  1. Yes, they are universally mocked by anyone who has a clue about optics.
  2. 500-1000 or 500-1200 is generally considered Long Range. The 1000-2000+ gets categorized as Extreme Long Range
  3. You, sir, have officially lost any credibility in any conversation around firearms.
  4. FYI, I've known Tom a few years and have never seen him recommend a 30-06 over a 308. However, he will tell you to get a 260 over a 308 any day.
  5. Spend an extra $100 or so and get yourself a Falcon Menace 4-14x or a Viper 6.5-20. Also factor in another $100ish for base/rings, you can get some decent ones in that price range. The upside to the savage, is that you can upgrade it yourself (including barrel/chambering) as funds allow or if you get more serious.
  6. In several years of long range shooting, I've seen a ton of 308s and maybe 2 30-06's at the range. In theory, you can get more velocity behind the bullet, and get better ballistics, but unless you want to reload from day 1, its not worth it. There is a lot of match grade 308 there, and the only match grade 30-06 I've seen is old stuff for Garands which wouldn't be comparable.
  7. Hope you are saying that as Todd the friend, cause technically Todd the gunstore employee needs to have an 07 ffl to do that.
  8. Well then, you can come up here and shoot your snobby shotgun at the snobby sporting clays club I'm likely to end up joining.
  9. Just because you aren't smart enough to use a gun for self defense doesn't mean the rest of us aren't.
  10. Well, sister calls brother about a break in, teenage son found in the yard wearing ski mask and general burglar attire, so I'm guessing his son was trying to break into the house.
  11. Mike, the dude is yanking your chain a bit. He claims spec ops but needs your input on optics? Please... Also, the ACOG is a magnified optic, its perfect for those longer range situations he's claiming he'll need a new optic for. It's passable for CQB (better with a reflex sight on top like someone else mentioned), but longer stuff is where it shines. 3 deployments with it and he should know that. You do realize it has built in bullet drop compensating out to 600yards right?
  12. If our marine spec ops units need to resort to having their civilian coworkers ask for gun advice on Internet motorcycle forums, then I do believe Chesty Puller is turning over in his grave.
  13. I think they run around 350-400. You'll want a separate AR can.
  14. I have a GSG and a ruger/tacsol setup with a Spectre. You can try it whenever you like. The GSG is probably a tad less finicky than the walthers. Last I heard, ruger still didn't have a threaded option out for the Sr22 despite manuals that indicate it. Think about the MP22 from smith, its prethreaded like the others and uses the p22 thread adapter. a Ruger/Tacsol setup or buckmark/tacsol will probably be the best, but it can be pricier. Ruger has a new 22/45 lite that mimics the tacsol stuff and its only about $400. so $400 (ruger lite) +350 for can (sales tax included, its the one I would get if money were no object) +200 for tax stamp will fit your budget. or $300 (base ruger) + $300 tacsol upper (might be able to get you a better price) + 350 +200 is a bit over. However, that can be easily fixed by explaining to your wife that your bonus was $150 less than expected.
  15. I can't vouch for the bike, but I can at least affirm the owner is (mostly) non-douchey.
  16. I'm getting rid of that bike too. However, there is always a chance I'll show up and ride Jinu's diseased 600rr.

  18. Not happy with the way the 308 is shooting, or at least the way I'm shooting it. Don't really have the time or inclination to work out what the issue is.
  19. One of Josh's buddy's running the event? I've got some pretty good dope with the precision AR, so I'd be game to play spotter for someone. Might hit up Wayde to see if he wants to go
  20. Check out the SAS Ti Arbiter. It can be had for ~$750 and flounder and I can both attest to the quality.
  21. I may be game if you aren't already shooting with someone. Call me later.
  22. I have a spare set. Craig or Jinu can pick it up for you if you want it.
  23. There is a reason that Pauly does most of the work on Jinu's bikes......
  24. You sure didn't fuck around with the upgrade. As far as factory rifles go, those Sakos are some of the best. Brian, buy the man's rifle.
  25. You know my general reason for not showing. That said, Jbot talked me into coming out sometime this month, but due to health issues, I have to pass.
