The chiappa one is garbage by most accounts. It may be worth the extra money to get the Sig labeled one as I'm told the finish is better. The finish on my GSG slide is rather thin and will need redone soonish.

It comes apart for cleaning, uses baffles not a core with packed material that degrades. all stainless.

All GSG's have a threaded barrel. I had to add a thread adapter to get it to extend past the slide and into the 1/2x28 thread pitch my suppressor requires. This particular model did come with a faux suppressor as well.

No such thing. Only chance would be to find a state where you can become a LEO before 21, move there, get job, then come visit Ohio and carry under the out of state LEO authority.

I have a GSG 1911 as a suppressor host. Yes, the mags are metal (plastic baseplates). It runs pretty good, but it certainly doesn't have ruger like reliability (adding the can doesn't necessarily help either). It's overall a pretty decent piece, most 1911 parts fit. I swapped out the mainspring housing for a flat checkered Ed Brown deal with a magwell when I first got it. The major downsides are the slide is fairly soft metal and the finish on the slide is rather thing. I've been told the Sig branded ones have a better finish on them, otherwise they are identical.

All this talk of 590's and not a single post that it has a fucking bayonet lug? Seriously? It's a shotgun with a bayonet lug, perfect for when you are knee deep in zombies but low on ammo. You don't get much cooler than that.

Lowers are really all about the same, components in the lowers is more of a concern. 8mmDale is an FFL in the columbus area and can set you up.

There are no actual standards, although most instructors use the NRA Basic pistol rocker qual, which has changed recently to be a little harder. Honestly, the OPOTA pistol qual course of fire is pretty easy and should be the standard.

Honestly, it's not something that needs fixed. Fixing the lame definition of a loaded gun being a loaded mag, fix that, but there is nothing wrong with a requal after 10 years. Given the general demographic I've seen come through classes in the past 6 years, I would go so far as to require a requal at all renewals, not just the second.

Yes, he will have to take a class again unless his original training was recent and met Ohio guidelines (including the passing out of the book from the AG). FYI, for the second renewal (aka 10 years later), it is a shooting re-qualification not another full on course.

Ours are almost identical. I have a magpul PRS stock and a PST on mine vs his standard A2 and Crossfire.

Judging by your picture, I'd guess weak extractor tension like the poster above mentioned. It's been ages since I've played with a Hi Power, but I think the extractor has a spring in the mechanism, so you should be able to put a Wolf extra power spring in there and be good to go if thats the issue.
