  1. Let me know when you are provisioning circuits off an OC-48 as your telco handoff, then I may be impressed.
  2. I checked a different class but you just further proved my point. carbine 1 is 525 and a 3 day course. 450-550 is typical for a two day course, some are more. So 525 for three days is cheap. i wouldn't look at the price of 5 day courses at Gunsite, you may go into cardiac arrest.
  3. Umm. I just checked their prices. You really need to re-align your expectations. $350 for a two day class is on the low end of the spectrum.
  4. TDI in Southern Ohio gets good reviews. Ken Hackathorn is local. You have Chris Cerino in Wadsworth. OPS Alliance is based in Ohio, but they are pricey.
  5. It's SOP for the folks that service it, the ATM techs and the cash handlers. That's usually how it gets caught.
  6. 1) It Depends on the bank if they are going to have a clue as to if your account was compromised. Some banks have really on the ball security dept's, some don't. As Flounder stated, they may not know how many times data was pulled off of that skimmer, also there is a trend for those things to broadcast that data via bluetooth so they run less risk of getting caught. 2) It's very hit and miss. No, I've never seen it only active when a card is in. There is integration, but usually not quite like that. However, often your PAN may get recorded on the video for Loss Prevention purposes when you do insert the card. Also, whether its real video is hit or miss. Video is 30 frames per second and requires a lot of storage. I've seen a lot of security cameras (atm or not) only do 6-8 fps to cut down on storage if they feel they don't need full time video.
  7. If your post is meant to imply that shooting at a mile is fantasy, then I'd suggest your view of reality is skewed. If its a "hey asshole, you shoot in your backyard, don't ruin our (albeit overboard) fun" then carry on.
  8. the only concern to my knowledge is getting the correct barrel shank for your receiver.
  9. you can run a 308 in a long acti on. as long as the bolt face is fine. mag issues perhaps, but not bolt.
  10. In that case, you might be able to find a sporter weight take off barrel from someone upgrading for ~$50
  11. You would need to procure an action wrench, a set of head-space gauges and a new barrel. A few friends have done it and it isn't too big of a deal. That is the major upside to the savage action vs the remington. FYI this will be a slippery slope. First a barrel, then a stock, then new mounts/rings, new scope, new trigger, etc.... You'll eventually spend more than you have in your AR. I literally had a 2 hour discussion with R1douchenozzle on this very topic tonight.
  12. FYI, It's basically a less expensive Savage. You could eventually build that into a decent LR rig if you so desired. They sell pre-fit match barrels that you can basically put on at home, no gunsmith required (provided you can use a set of go/no go gauges).
  13. If its stevens, then I'm assuming its actually a Savage action. So in theory, anything that fits a savage will work. I have a rifle basix on my rem700 set to 2.5lbs and am very happy with it. Timney is generally considered the better of the two. I'm not one for sub 2.5 lbs triggers on hunting or LR target guns. I just don't feel its necessary. I've done .2 MOA groups with my .308 with the shitty factory trigger at roughly 4.5 lbs. FWIW, when I shot pistol competitively my heaviest trigger was 2.2 lbs and the lightest was ~50-75 grams (yes grams).
  14. Same here. Just too busy to take the week off, especially since I'll be traveling for work the week before.
  15. Geissele SSA-E or SD-E all the way.

In terms of rounds put through an AR, 55 gr is usually the lightest most users do,

Just like your big sister could suddenly stop being a gianormous bitch. However, a 1/7 twist barrel causing an issue with 55gr ammo is orders of magnitude less likely to occur.

It's really only too fast when you are talking about the lighter weight bullets in 223. For your 55gr fmj 223 or 556 milsurp (xm193), its perfectly fine. Now if you put a super HOT 40gr varmitting load in there, sure you might overspin it. If one is that concerned, run your load data through a ballistic calculator, otherwise for your average user with an AR, 1/7 is just fine. For your user that wants to shoot further distances, a 1/8 or 1/7 is mandatory.
  19. I call BS on your BS. We all know you don't have friends.
  20. Here is a lower priced 1-5x, but still pretty decent. Glass won't be near what the vortex pst is, but should suffice for your purposes. http://swfa.com/Falcon-Menace-15-5x30-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P47586.aspx
  21. The better question is what sort of accuracy are you looking for at 100/200 yards? Target/plinking or CQB? The strikefire (and various other reddots) is a 4MOA dot. So it covers a 4" circle at 100 and an 8" circle at 200 yards. Eotechs are 1moa dots in a 65 moa circle, so they cover 1" at 100 and 2" at 200. Still very quick in the sub 25y cqb type shooting, but a little easier to get better accuracy out of. I have an eotech on my m4, and even then, I hate doing any sort of precision stuff with it because I get slight haloing with red dots. My next 16" AR will probably have a 1-4x ffp scope with target turrets so I can dial or hold for specific distances.

Nice. Sorry I kept missing you on the phone. That's probably the perfect setup for you. I'm interested in seeing how I like that rail on that.

It appears that that ATF has said that AFG doesn't count as a vert grip, and is therefore ok on a pistol. Not that they don't change their mind and revert on tech branch letters. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B0qyloA48O3XZWFjYjMwYTMtYTg1MC00NzVhLWI3NmMtZDRiNTMzNzdhMzUx&hl=en&pli=1

FYI, not sure if that magpul AFG counts as a foregrip, but if it does its not legal to have on a pistol, throws it into AOW category.
