I'm out for this weekend. The status of my bike is still in limbo. However, if you guys have a planned route, I'm down for meeting up with you guys for lunch.

Thats whats killing me right now, missing the chances to ride. Right now, my shoulder could probably tolerate an hour or two on a bike without much soreness. Having a damaged bike in the garage is only serving to drive me nuts right now. Book value on the bike is like 5600, so it wouldn't take much to hit 70-80% of that if I start replacing fairings. I've conned my dad into taking the bike in for me since he's on vacation, so I should know in a day or two what the status is.

Specifically, he said that the combination of the rear subframe, forks, tank AND fairings would cause the total. He said the added cost of the fairings is what will push it over the edge.

If my bike is ridable by then, I'm in. However, I highly doubt it will be ready. Hell, I highly doubt I have things worked out with my insurance by then.

Wow, I am now even more pissed off that I worked literally all weekend. I weaseled out of a conference, only to get called in Friday night through Sunday.

I finally heard today from a local shop that is going to be doing the repair estimate for my R6. They can get it in tomorrow, but warned me that I'm pretty much looking at it being totaled due to having to replace the fairings. If they total it, what would I be looking at to buy it back from them? I'm thinking that the fairings really don't need replaced, but maybe touched up over the winter. So the only real repairs (assuming they don't find something like a bent frame/swingarm), are new forks/triple tree, gas tank and rear subframe. Am I insane for thinking about letting them total it and doing the repairs, or should I just be looking at new bikes?

I feel your pain, literally. Today was to be my start of physical therapy for the injuries from my accident. I still feel that the damage to my ego was worse than the separated shoulder. The important thing is that the bike ....er uh..... you are ok. Next step is to get back out there armed with the knowledge of what you did wrong and what you can do to be a better rider.

Doc said I should be ok after 6 weeks or so of physical therapy. supposedly i shouldn't need surgery, but its still a possibility if rehab doesn't work. Definately no riding until mid-sept.

Finally got ahold of a doc. Going in tomorrow for an eval. He pulled my file from the ER, says i may need surgery. looks like i just got out of my trip to china

oh yeah, i am also taking applications for a personal nurse for the weekend. just gotta look good in a short skirt and keep the vicoden coming.

i was kinda hoping they would total it. after a wreck like that (the bike bounced several times) i don't know if i could trust the repairs. anyone know a good orthopedic doc in akron? it seems when i call and say i need to see someone today cause i wrecked last night, they want me to go to the ER. er didn't want t o do anything but xrays, sling and send me home with instructions to see an ortho. this is pissing me off

I highsided last night on my way to QSL for bike night. some car in front of me suddenly slowed down and i had to get on the breaks pretty hard. the rear locked up and like a dumbass i let off of the break, which straighted the bike back up and launched me. my head barely hit (thank god for years of breakfalling in martial arts), my shoulder took most of the impact. i was only about a mile from home. banged up my knee, some soreness all over, and a separated shoulder. my gear held up, hjc cl-sp helmet, joe rocket alter ego textile jacket, jr gloves. don't know if they will total the bike or not, rear subframe is bent and cracked. forks look messed up, tank is dented, break lever broke, mirrors broke. the fairings are in surprisingly good shape

i would have been there, but i was in the ER.
