  1. Thanks. Given my son is on a limited budget, it will most likely be an LT1 based on the prices I am seeing. Now if it was for me, that would be another matter...
  2. Thanks for the comments and links. Time to do some research...
  3. Yes, too many. The RX7 will be sold or parted within the next month, and the IS300 and Yukon will be sold / traded for a Suburban, so I will be replacing 3 with 1.
  4. I am looking at mid '90's Z28's with my son. Can anybody provide insight (or a link) on the good / bad aspects of these cars along with what to look for in a used one? Thanks! Rich

    bootleg bikes?

Adventure Cycles in Grove City sold the Hyosung (also branded United Motors) bikes. Hyosung makes components including some of the small bore engines for the big makes and have been around awhile. They supposedly are decent bikes, essentially knock offs of various bikes. I believe they also make a 600cc bike, a cruiser style. Not sure about getting parts down the road though. Personally, I would just buy a nice used bike. There are tons of 250cc beginner bikes out there.
  6. I get nothing but compliments on this car but not even a nibble on interest. It's not just this board, it's all of them that I have it posted on. Any ideas why? By the way, also open to certain trades - my son is looking for another car, maybe a Civic / Integra, 240SX, Camaro / Firebird...or perhaps a vintage bike.
  7. The RX7 is not a speedster by todays standards. I have never had it to a drag strip so I am not sure how fast it is. With the stock carb and header setup, it is probably around 140 HP give or take. It weighs about 2250 lbs. It will easily do 125mph, and I would guess 0-60 is in the 7.5 sec to 8.0 sec range with the stock carb. With the Weber, I am thinking it is around 7 sec. For cheap speed, there are lots of options with these cars: - Drop a V8 in it (I've thought of this seriously). - Port the engine - Swap a 13b Turbo into it Regarding the looks, that is a matter of personal taste. It is definitely old school, clean, simple lines, and doesn't look like a blob or jellybean. If you like cars like, say, the Mitsu 3000GT or stuff with air dams and wings, it is not the car for you. On the other hand, I have had 1st gen RX7's forever and never get tired of the look so I am biased. Certain cars don't age and along with the original 240Z, the 3rd gen RX7, and a few others, I think this is one of them.
  8. Steve, Here's one. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34470&highlight=RX7 It's my car, and is set up well. I used it as a DD for 2 years, but have not driven it much the last couple. Everybody that has seen it has commented on what a nice car it is. I have autocrossed and road raced for 25 years, and would be happy to share what I know with you as you go down the path. I am out of town on Sat Mar 10, but back on Sunday. PM me if interested in talking and I will send you my mobile number. You can come out and see the car on Sunday if you like. Rich
  9. Too many projects and life's demands require thinning of the fleet. Car is 1985 GS, red, no sunroof. Complete history and documentation for the car. I am the fourth owner. This is a very nice, solid car. Rock solid no rust in lower trailing arm area. Sell the stock stuff and make a race car or use as a daily driver. More pictures and details at http://www.cardomain.com/id/31rx7. The Weber and intake are off of it and going to another member as part of a trade. I have the stock carb and intake ready to install. $2300 firm as it sits. $2600 firm with stock carb and intake back on it and running. Might entertain trades as son is looking for a car. EF / EG Civic, Integra, etc. Also, I have a newfound interest in vintage bikes... Located in central Ohio. Will deliver within 200 miles of central Ohio for the cost of gas. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/RX7_Ext_Drivers.jpg
  10. I have a 4 drawer upright legal size file cabinet. It is old, but fully functional, and it is a well made commercial style one. Drawers and latches work smoothly. It also has the frames and the hanging folders. I have had it for 20 years, and it was probably 20 years old when I got it! It is a dark green color, and the only downside (may be an upside with this audience) is that it has stickers and racing dash plaques on it. $40 OBO. Need it out of my garage this weekend. rgrunenw at columbus dot rr dot com

    Rife's Autobody

Interesting. I have taken all my cars to Rife's for over 15 years and have had very good service, fair pricing, and quick turnaround.
  12. Tried to sell this and there was no interest. Now FREE or it goes to the curb, This is the luggage rack / sissy bar that came with my 1975 Honda CB750 as I want to get it back to a stock look. Both are in fair shape with some minor rust that should clean up. The two forward mounts on the luggage rack adjust in and out for (I assume) fitment to different bikes. The forward tube on the left side broke at some point and was repaired not too elegantly, but it is functional. The sissy bar unbolts from the rack. Pick up only - I am in Hilliard and work in Dublin. Pics at [url:5f045]http://new.photos.yahoo.com/rgrunenw/album/576460762376326586[/url:5f045] Thanks! Rich
  13. Thanks for sharing. This is the third negative comment I have heard about the Rice Paddy in the short time I have owned a bike. Being new to bikes and a new owner of an old bike (1974 CB750), I know there are times I will need to frequent shops, and I want to know who is good and trustworthy, and who is not. I would rather pay a little bit more and deal with someone who is honest and has integrity, than be jerked around by somebody only out to get my money.

    Need Info...

Got one from eBay, an old Clymers for about $11 shipped. Once I get a jack / stand, I will spend the winter going through all the normal maintenance items.

    Need Info...

Just bought my first bike, a 1974 Honda CB750. Solid bike, has been well maintained, but shows typical wear from being 30 years old. Not perfect cosmetically, but not bad either. Has had all the expected stuff taken care of: tires, battery, carbs, valves, etc. After 30 years of racing and playing with cars, I had always wanted a bike so took the MSF course this summer and got my endorsement. I will be spending the winter cleaning it up a bit and checking over everything. My questions are: - What are good local sources for parts for classic bikes like these? Both new and used? - Any recommendations on shops for service and repair? Thanks in advance! Rich
  18. Excellent post. The secret to a long, successful relationship is the fact that the two people care about each other enough to communicate what is going on, and believe their partner's happiness is just as as important as their own. It works both ways, involves communication, and sometimes compromise. I know it sounds like happy horseshit, but with almost 30 years in a rock solid relationship, I think I have a clue. I care first about what is best for US before what is best for ME. Ultimately, they become the same thing. Of course, it helps my wife is a car gal...
  19. Instead of dragging home another project, make your S/O happy by buying them a nice luxury car! We are selling our 1994 Inifiti J30: - 2 owners, all records - 115k miles - Gets about 19 - 21 mpg in city, and 25 - 27 mpg on the highway - Fully loaded with leather, sunroof, AM/FM/CD Bose stereo, power everything, heated seats, etc. - $4,500 OBO. You can read details and see pictures at: http://columbus.craigslist.org/car/230520984.html http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rgrunenw/my_photos This is a really nice, well maintained car. We've already identified another car that we want, so price is negotiable. Thanks!
  20. I've been into 1st gen RX7's forever, and would be happy to assist with advice, setup, and leads on parts. Just PM me. As a matter of fact, if all goes well I am going to bring mine out for the fun event on Nov 5.
  21. Lexus IS300. Positives: RWD, rock solid build quality, Toyota reliability, great resale value, decent power and handling. Negatives: Lousy in snow - buy a set of winter tires, suspension slightly soft for my tastes.
  22. If it is designed / constructed well and in any kind of shape, this is a deal somebody should jump on. Used trailers are hard to come by.
