I've seen you autocross enough to know you would be fine in a Miata. Go for it. Rich

Also, try Racer Phil at TCR Group. racerphil@hotmail.com Phil has a tire changing business he runs out of his house, and comes across used stuff all the time.

Thanks. I wondered what they were called!

If the plugs looked to be in reasonable shape, I would suspect a fuel system issue. Does the issue seem isolated to one cylinder or across cylinders? Also, since it starts out fine and then starts to happen after warmup, could the choke system be malfunctioning? Just thoughts. I am by no means an expert on bikes. However, having an older bike like mine means that these types of things happen and I have to learn by doing!

The SCCA has its last autocross of the year at Cooper Stadium on Sunday, November 4. Autocross novice guide: http://ovr-scca.org/_ovrclub/noviceguid...ocross.asp Schedule for the day and basic event conduct: http://ovr-scca.org/_autocross/rules/rules.asp To pre-register for the event: http://www.dlbracing.com (Note: The DLBracing site is not particularly well laid out or user friendly. Frankly, it stinks. Select November 2007 and Ohio Valley Region SCCA in the drop downs, and go from there. You will need to register with the site to pre-register for the events) You can also register at the evnt site, but it is $5 more and they limit the on site entries I will be running in my 89 Civic Si (STS #81) - say hello and I will give you a ride and show you around. I have a set of rims from a C5 Corvette. These are (I assume) the standard rims as they are painted. They are in excellent condition with centers. No scratches, curb rash, or dents. The dark spots in the pictures are simply dirt from sitting in my garage. I would like to trade the two 18" rear wheels for a pair of 17" front wheels so I have a set of four the same size. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/Junk/CorvetteC5Rims02.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/Junk/CorvetteC5Rims01.jpg Rich Hilliard, OH

Sorry. Missed the other thread. Posted this in a hurry as I copied it from another board I posted on.

That will probably work. The formal rules are at http://www.scca.org/documents/Solo%20Rules/2007SoloRules.pdf This is not the easiest read. Short story is that if you don't think it will sustain a good crash, then it probably isn't appropriate. Not that you should crash at an autocross.

Yes, you need seat belts. Your expired ones are fine.

The SCCA has two events this weekend at National Trails. An autocross on Saturday the 20th, and a Rallycross on the 21st. Autocross novice guide: http://ovr-scca.org/_ovrclub/noviceguid...ocross.asp Schedule for the day and basic event conduct: http://ovr-scca.org/_autocross/rules/rules.asp Rallycross info: http://ovr-scca.org/_rallycross/rallycrosshome.asp Schedule and basic event conduct: http://ovr-scca.org/_rallycross/rules.asp Don't get overwhelmed by the rules. The main things are: have a safe and sound car, and show up. They have a novice chair person that shows you the ropes, and most people are more than happy to assist. To register for either event: http://www.dlbracing.com (Note: The DLBracing site is not particularly well laid out or user friendly. Frankly, it stinks. Select October 2007 and Ohio Valley Region SCCA in the drop downs, and go from there. You will need to register with the site to pre-register for the events. You can also register at the evnt site, but it is $5 more and they limit the on site entries) I will be running either the autocross in my 89 Civic Si (STS #81) and just decided to run the Rallycross as I was offered a free ride, a black Golf PF $122. Life is good. Rich

These are nice cars. I drove one just like it and it is everything you would expect. Surprising acceleration, great fit and finish, superb execution on most features and functions. If I had to have an economical, dead reliable, only car in the family type of vehicle, this would probably be it. Good luck with your sale.

Got some. Problem solved. Lock'r up.

That's where I am headed shortly.

While replacing the front wheel bearings on my 1989 Civic Si, the backing plates for the brakes pretty much disintegrated. These are the stamped sheet metal pieces behind the hub. Apparently, the life of these is about 18 years... In any case, I desperately need both sides for my car to be legal at the SCCA Solo Nationals the week of the 24th. If you have a pair of these, or a pair of steering knuckes I can take them off of, please contact me ASAP. PM, eMail, or phone (614-561-3412). I need to get everything together so I can leave next Saturday and get there for the Sunday test and tune. Thanks in advance for your help. Rich

I have a set - will PM you.

Here's another: http://columbus.craigslist.org/car/412893654.html Must be the Barfetta's big brother. Look up "cool car" on Wiki and I am sure this will be pictured there.

I can't believe this car is still for sale. Bump for a nice Z28.

I also vote for Saturns for first cars. We have had three of them now for our kids to learn on. For the past two years, our daughter has been driving a 1992 Saturn we bought off of craigslist for $300. I had to put about $200 into it to get it to a reliable and functional state, but she has now put about 20,000 miles on it with only one real repair (ECU crapped out). However, if you expect him to work on it, you need to get buy in from him during the selection process. Saturns aren't particularly cool, and I doubt he'll go for it. However, most anything considered "cool" by a high schooler that is under $1000 will be a ratty POS not even worth fixing. I would advise setting evaluation criteria, have him find the cars in the paper, on the web, etc., and then every week go look at one or two together. Then, you can show him how you are evaluating the cars so he knows a turd when he sees one. \ Just my $.02 from having been there and done that!

I am in the market for a two wheeler to use primarily as a pit bike. My trailer was broken in to, and my old pit bike was stolen. I have since found a more secure location to store my race car trailer. I am interested in anything ranging from a basic mini-bike to a scooter to a small (100cc) motorcycle. The primary requirements are that it be small, light, and in good mechanical condition. Appearance is of lesser importance. It would be nice if it could be licensed. I would prefer to only spend a $200 or so for a basic mini-bike, but may spend up to $1000 for a small motorcycle or scooter with a title that can be licensed. Anything from your basic centrifigal clutch B&S powered ride to a Honda Spree to a ST-90 to a Passport to a CT-70 to a CB100 (note the fondness for Honda's). No projects; I want something that is pretty much turnkey. I need to be able to hop on and ride with little effort or thought. This will be vehicle number 8 in our household, and while receiving the least use, it will also have the lowest priority in terms of repair. It will, however, receive good maintenance; it's just that when it breaks it will sit until I get caught up on everything else! As an aside, I have an affinity for older / vintage bikes. My road bike is a '75 CB750. Of course I am looking for a good value. In other words, I am a cheapskate! Let me know what you have. I want to purchase something by the end of the month. Cash in hand, ready to go.

Nice car. My son bought a 94 Z28 A4 hardtop with 94k that I thought we got a deal on at $4800. Yours appears way nicer for only $500 more.
