Cheap autocross cars: - Given no one runs a Mini locally, a Saturn SL2 or SC2 5 speed is a good choice for a cheap autocrosser in HStock. Rims are almost free, and a used set of R type tires can be had for cheap. - As a matter of fact, look at the more lightly populated classes. A budget car for one of those. - 2nd Choice would be a Neon for GStock. Similar prep. Probably even cheaper than a Saturn. - I don't think ES is that heavily populated either. The early Miata's can be had for cheap. - Keep your Starion / Conquest, and put some decent rubber on it.

I saw this also. I had one also I road raced in SSB. Great cars. Lots of fun, and pretty cheap to own. The two big issues with these are rust and the transmission (pops out of fifth gear). This one has the transmission rebuilt so hopefully that problem is solved. Price sounds pretty good on this.

SOLD!! After a several months trying to sell these, somebody just shoot me an offer! Complete set of Corvette wheels for a C5 Corvette. These are in excellent condition and are 17x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the back. They include center covers. They are a little dirty from sitting in my garage but are in excellent shape with no scratches or curb rash. I purchased these for my son's Z28 but he has now decided to sell his car, so I no longer need them. Price is $150 / offers. These generally sell for $300 or more a set on eBay. I would prefer to sell outright, but may be interested in partial or full trades for items relating to the following: - 1969 through 1976 Honda CB750 - 1975 through 1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing - 1988 through 1991 Honda Civic / CRX - Maybe quality guitars (electric or acoustic) - Home theater system Thanks. I have a 2005 Suburban, 5.3L, 2wd, 1500, towing package, and 60,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle used with about 50,000 miles on it. On Wednesday this past week, the transmission started slipping slightly and has gotten progressively worse in a hurry. - Fluid and filter were changed about 10k miles ago, - Has towed a 6000 lb rig about 2500 miles, including one round trip of 1500 miles. During towing, the transmission is in "trailer towing" mode, in "drive" (not overdrive), and speeds are kept reasonable (nothing over 65 or so). When it started happening, I checked the fluid and both the level and color were fine, no burning smell. My mechanic and I went for a test drive yesterday with his scan tool hooked up, and there are no codes on the computer and the CEL does not come on. Today, my mechanic took off the pan, and found some metal shavings barely visible to the eye, but not excessive. The filter looked fine and the fluid itself did not show any signs of overheating - it looked new. It looks like a new transmission will need to go in. Has anybody had a similar issue come up with their newer Suburban, Yukon, Tahoe, or C/K truck? If so, what caused it and what was the resolution? I hate the thought of having to put a new tranny in such a new vehicle. Thanks in advance for any assistance or insight.

I don't have the time or patience to read through all pages of this and respond. But, at the same time, I can't leave well enough alone. I am assuming your point is that people with lower discretionary income (ie, poor people) have a more active contribution to the economy at large (because they spend most all of what they make) than a rich person does (because they save or invest a large portion of what they make). From a short term perspective, you may have a point. From a long term perspective, I am not so sure. The savings and investments made by a person with higher discretionary income are used to generate capital (either through stocks or loans from banks) that is invested in research, development, new products and services, etc. that create the jobs of tomorrow. Without investment into the jobs of tomorrow, the only jobs left will relate to buying and selling goods and services manufactured / produced in low cost labor markets (China, Indonesia, etc.). You and I will be relegated to selling insurance and electronics to each other. I will accept the argument that there are significant inefficiencies in all of this. The welfare system is a great example. But, your proposition only holds water IF the rest of the environment does not change. Which of course it always does. Which means we need investment to create new products and services and provide existing products and services at lower cost. Where does this investment come from? From people with discretionary income used for savings and investments, aka, "rich people". I am not saying "rich people are better than poor people because..." or anything like that. What I am saying is that we are all involved in an extremely complex economic system with interwoven causes and effects, and as a result there are roles we all unwittingly play in this system. Do I save or invest money so I can create the jobs of tomorrow? NO! I do it because I want to be sure I can support my wife and myself when I get older and so I can send my kids to school so they can have a good life and (ideally) do something positive for this country as well as their immediate community. Do people work crap jobs at low wages because they want to "add more to the economy"? Hell no! They do it because they have to in order to survive, and I respect all of them because they HAVEN'T GIVEN UP on the goal of having a better life for themselves or their families. If they have given up, they would be doing welfare. (As an aside, education addresses a lot of this as it helps create a vision for something better, but that is a discussion for another day). I would argue that for those of us that are not born to money, the reason we work hard is primarily because we want something better for ourselves and our families, and has nothing to do with the economy. Any benefits to the economy that result from what we do are secondary and coincidental. To loop back to your premise ("trickle down doesn't work"), I would argue it does work, but it typically takes YEARS for it to work. Today, we are reaping the benefits in the job market from investment done maybe 3 to 5 years ago. And, of course we all want it right now which is why people don't think it works, thus creating the perception of those nasty rich people screwing up our economy.

Our original DVR box worked great but one day decided it was no longer going to work, and would not turn on and boot up. The replacement box they brought out has had the picture freeze regularly. We have had the technician out three times and they claim it is not the box. I am about ready to switch everything over to another provider. I assume when I threaten this they will swap another box.

I had mike bike worked on by them also. Nice guys and they did a good job at what I felt was a fair price. There are not a ton of places that will work on the older stuff.

I have consistently had good luck with Advance during the past 10 or so years dealing with them. With my fleet of high mileage vehicles, I always need something and for the most part Advance has good parts at reasonable prices. The few times that I have had to return something they have been easy to work with.

This would be doable here. The size of the bikes and low speed nature would make it feasible. This is MUCH slower and tighter than a typical autocross today, and as long as the rider had the right equipment on it would work out.

Yes, it's like an RX7 except that it has torque!

The lowly STS Civic on hard tires - 56.9. I felt pretty good until I got home and did the math. I checked the PAX numbers - Danny Popp in the blue SM2 Corvettte was 2 seconds ahead of me on PAX. I would've had to do like a 54.0 to match him on PAX. He was freaking flying.

Everybody, thanks for coming out. Lots of new faces today in spite of the temperatures. A lot of folks were first timers and did well, AJ for one. Rich

Yes, the Civic is a trailer queen now. Not a beauty queen, but an old, worn, road weary queen in need of a face lift, tummy tuck, and wrinkle removal, but a queen nonetheless. Once Bud bought the Z28 I didn't want to spend the money on insurance any more. Plus, with the springs on it, a dump truck rides better.

Anyone seen this? Older bike guys parts parts

I believe this is at Doc's down in Lancaster. -
The white Civic on hard tires will annhilate you all...unless you have sticky tires or more than 1.6l engine. I am in a particularly obnoxious mood this evening with no one at home to pick on, so... CamaroAJ, you will have fun, guaranteed. LPFSTheFett, you don't need a co-driver, and your cars WERE MADE for this. 78NovaMan, you should probably learn to read a calendar before trying to autocross. Mr. AutoX, I was impressed at your PAX time last event. This time, no mercy! Crossle, your Dad was my first driving instructor. I blame my lack of talent and having to unlearn bad habits on him. I coulda been a contender... Chief8one, you get my award for doing so much with so little. Unfortunately, the value of my award is $0, so it really doesn't help you out. clbsinvaders, I had hoped to have my RX7 in drivable shape so I could show you what a reasonably set up one felt like. But, I didn't get it done so it will have to be next year. clk1, watching an autocross is like watching porno: not much satisfaction and its more fun to be a participant! Supplicium, I am missing something here. Why do you need to raise your car to autocross? For that matter, if you are only going to watch, what does it matter. Seriously, everybody stop by and say hello. I will give rides to as many people as I can except for maybe my last run of the day. My car is STS #81, white 1989 Civic Hatch. I have a blue Suburban with a pewter PACE enclosed trailer. Rich
