myautoevents.com does not have a complete schedule. Only clubs that use them for registration are on it. http://www.dlbracing.com is a site some clubs use so check there also. The Ohio Valley Region SCCA schedule is at: http://www.ovr-scca.org/eventSchedules/solo.asp Finally, the most complete list I know of is at: http://www.solo2.cendiv-scca.org/ Follow the link "The Cen-Div Wide Solo Schedule". http://www.ovr-scca.org/eventSchedules/solo.asp

Yes, everyone is OK. The belt and airbag did its job. Even the motorcyclist is going to be OK - he must have had an angel on his shoulder. See http://www.autocrossforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3079&st=0 For what it was, it was a very good autocross car and we had a lot of fun with it. I am tempted to keep my parts and look for a $100 Neon to put them on just to go do it again. By the way, it's on eBay now as a parts car. Rich

1995 Neon ACR SOHC Sedan, 163k miles, 2 owners, all maintenance and service records. Car was involved in recent accident and totalled. Salvage title. See pics at: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rgrunenw/album?.dir=8a38re2&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rgrunenw/my_photos I would prefer to sell the shell as a complete unit. The remaining parts that would be of primary interest to people are: - SOHC engine and 3.94 final drive transmission. The engine is very strong, and both engine and transmission have had synthetic since break in. Transmission shifted clean and smooth; no noise or grinding. There was a new clutch and pressure plate installed about 3,000 miles ago. New NAPA starter installed 5,000 miles ago. - Front and rear suspension arms, hubs, front sway bar, and brakes. The brakes were new during the last 5000 or so miles. Hawk HP pads up front and Raybestos in the rear. New rotors were installed when pads were changed. Front hubs are the stronger ACR hubs, and new front bearings were installed about 5000 miles ago with the brakes. - Steering rack and associated components. - Front axles. Good condition, no noise in CV's or tears in the boots. - Body from the firewall back. There is minor damage on both front doors from the fenders being pushed into them, but the are generally acceptable. The front drivers door had the lock punched through by some hoodlum. The rear doors, trunk lid, and bumper are in good shape. - There is a Walker 2.5" exhaust with DynoMax muffler that is only a year old. - There are probably other parts on the car of interest to somebody. For the car minus the parts I have taken off, $300. The drivetrain alone is worth that - I just want to save the effort of pulling it. I would much prefer to have it all gone together, but I realize there is a limited market for something like this, so I am flexible on price. Make an offer; you may be surprised. If there is no interest within the next few days, I will pull the engine and trans to sell, have my friends pick the bones, and scrap what's left. Also, I might be able to deliver the car in central Ohio. PLEASE PM me and I will send you my phone number so we can discuss. I won't negotiate price here in the thread. THE PARTS I HAVE REMOVED ARE: Koni Sport struts and Eibach Pro Kit springs, Front and rear seats and door panels, Mopar performance PCM, stereo and speakers, Mopar Performance rear sway bar and all hardware, wheels and tires, battery, Iceman CAI, Chikara header, and catalyst. I am undecided whether I am going to build another Neon so these parts may become available at some point. I will list them separately if they do. Thanks. Rich

1) Race karts 2) Autocross 3) Go work for Skip Barber Racing School or Jim Russell Racing School as a mechanic. I believe they let their staff at times practice in their cars. If you don't have funding, you need an inexpensive racing form to develop your talent and get people's attention. Or, find a rich widow.

I have only looked at your car from a distance, but would say that is quite good given the basic level of car prep, it's age, and mileage. There was a kid in an HS Civic LX, a 2002 I believe, that turned a 50.4 on Kumho's, no other car prep. That was moving in that car!

Emailed you. Rich

My best was a 49.8 on my fourth run, and I made mistakes. Hoover in the red and yellow Civic had a 49.7, and another car had a 49.5 with a cone. My last run was a 50.0 and I made a mistake at the 180 at worker station 3 where you were, costing me at least several tenths, so I am thinking a 49.3 or 49.4 was quite possible. The PAX index for STS is about the same as DS, and they were in the low 49 range, so my class should have been a bit quicker overall. However, we ran first heat and the track was a little dirty.
-
Always good to have a benchmark. That EP Civic is a well prepped and well driven car. Though it has its flaws, I use the PAX indexed event standings to help me figure out how I am improving event over event. My goal is generally to move up a few spots from one event to the next, and at a minimum not move back. When I get consistently into the top 10%, then I will be happy...for awhile at least.

Thanks. It is a great car - unfortunately the market value even for a nice 1st gen RX7 is not very high. If I had to guess, it will end up in long term storage as I don't want to just give it away. Now is the time to find and store the nice ones before they get expensive. On another note, I was pleased with how the Neon ran yesterday. My son struggled - he is usually only 1 sec behind me, but yesterday he was 2.5 seconds behind. It was a difficult course for a novice to really be fast on - a lot going on, and one mistake messed up the next three turns. I should have won but made a mistake on my last run. A couple more tweaks to the car and a few more to the driver, and we should be good to go!

Hope to see a lot of you there even if just to spectate.Come up and say hello. I will also have my 1985 RX7 there for sale. Rich

Gotcha. Then chances are it might make some difference, and certainly wouldn't hurt. Do you have tires that can take advantage of all that power? The more traction you can make use of at lauch, the more of a difference it will make. Of course, things start breaking with bigger tires... Be careful driving it on the street in the rain or slippery conditions - if the rear tends to come out now, it will come out even quicker with a bigger bar.
-
Sway bars make little, if any, difference on a straight line launch, such as at the drag strip. They are essentially springs in torsion that come into play while turning. They work to control axle / wheel movement while force is being put on the outside wheel. In a very high horsepower car, a rear sway bar helps some by limiting the twist of the body around the rear axle, but I believe there are other more effective ways to handle this. I can't imagine a big difference in the typical street car. Now they can make a significant difference in launching coming out of a turn such as in an autocross or road course. A sway bar change will change the handling chararcteristics of the car. How it changes depends on the starting point (ie, oversteer, understeer, neutral), and the type of sway bar change (front, rear, bigger, smaller).

Me too. I am too cheap to be buying Hoosiers on a regular basis! The STS tires are about the same in terms of feel, grip, and wear as the R compound tires from the late 1980's / early 1990's. And, a bunch cheaper.

I read the other thread about autocrossing, and rather than try to address all the points mentioned there, just decided to make it simple. My son and I are autocrossing all local SCCA events this year. We are running the kalecoauto.com Dodge Neon, STS #31 and #131 (an appropriate sponsor for the car...). I have been autocrossing since...well, a hell of a long time. Some years very serious, sometimes more for fun. I've driven all sorts of cars with reasonable success, and feel I have a lot of good, general knowledge about the sport. In any case, for any CR member that comes out to an Ohio Valley Region SCCA event for the remainder of the year, I would be happy to help you out. It seems a lot of people are interested in it, and like anything it takes some time to get good at it. It is easy to get intimidated when you start out, especially if the mods you've already done to your car put it in some really fast class. Just come up and introduce yourself, and I will spend time with you, walk the course, and give you pointers where I can. I need to thin the fleet a bit, and want to get a motorcycle. 1985 RX7, nicely modded. See http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=428332 for details. and http://www.cardomain.com/id/31rx7 for pictures. The alignment has been done and the window regulator has been replaced since the original post. Also, I am getting ready to put on new front rotors and wheel bearings. New price: $3,250 / reasonable offers, or will take street motorcycle in full or partial trade. Please use PM to correspond. I am very busy work wise this week and will be going to the F1 race at Indianapolis on July 1 and 2, so my availability is limited. I will respond to all inquiries as rapidly as I can. Thanks! Rich

I have two dogs from the pound. The great thing about pound dogs is that how they turn out always has surprises. Our 5 yr Lab mix ended up only 2 ft tall and 35 lbs, and our 2 yr boxer mix is a big puppy at 70 lbs! Both are great dogs!

Mojoe, Nice ride. I am a regular sized guy, but the cockpit looks like it might be a bit cramped. How tall are you and do you fit in the interior?
