I don't think I want to do anything for 30 years. I'd like to wake up and do whatever I felt like....FREEDOM. I wouldn't be lazy either. I might want to paint a room in my house, or wash my car, or cut grass, or shovel snow...I just hate the fact that I HAVE to work...and do the same monotonous things each day.

We just might. There are a decent number of TD people here in Dayton. I think I'm going to try and test out for my Teradata Masters cert by the end of the year. Do a lot of work in Cognos and Informatica as well and will probably be doing some development in Adobe Flex for BI within the next 6 months or so. Everything I've done the past 6 or so years is for the Air Force's data warehouse and a couple of other programs.

We have Informatica at work as well...small ETL team...3 folks I believe. Adobe Flex was introduced to mgmt for an internal web application that we were developing...but it got vetoed so we're using Tapestry5.

I've worked with Teradata at my last job and my current job. The key to it is tuning it. If you can tune it, you're worth your weight in gold...and then some.

Teradata. We also use some Oracle for a couple of data marts, but mostly for staging in the ETL process.

At my job, we use Teradata too. We're doing Active Data Warehousing. Java-based web services calling TD real-time. Pretty slick. The TD community in cbus is quite small. i'm sure we know some of the same people.

Lead data warehouse developer; ETL, DB, and BI. Also do Network and Systems Architecture/Engineering.

How did you open the coolant reservoir without boiling hot fluid bubbling up everywhere?

Coolant overflow reservoir was empty. I didnt open radiator.

So yesterday, I needed washer fluid. As you know, it was really cold yesterday. I was in a hurry. I popped my hood, popped the cap off, and dumped the fluid in the empty reservoir. It took about 3/4 gallon. When I put the cap back on, I realized my mistake....

I put washer fluid in to my antifreeze reservoir!

Before I started my truck, I called a bunch of people. I got different opinions. My opinion was this - hell, it's better than water since this is rated at -20 degrees.

Anyway, before I started my truck, I disconnected the overflow hose. I drove it a mile home. In order to drain the reservoir without removing it, I used my air compressor by inserting the compressor nozzle in to the reservoir overflow and letting 'er rip!

I am a bank teller for First Federal of Lakewood. It's actually a pretty fun job, but for some reason people think bank teller's make tons of money and trust me we dont.

While going to college, I had a bank teller job when I was on break from school. After 4 summers of working there (1998 was my last summer), I was making $7/hr. hopefully, for your sake, they're paying much better now

Funny story...

In college i had beater cars...they typically lasted me 1 year. While working one day during Social Security check day, we ran out of cash at our small bank. The manager wrote a check to another bank that was down the street for 70k. She handed me the check and I had to go thru the drive thru of the other bank to get the cash. I looked at her and said "are you serious!?". She said the bank knew I was coming and that i was 'bonded'. So if I stole the money the bank was insured...and I would go to jail. So I picked up the brick of cash and took it back to my bank. Yes, the thought crossed my mind. And let's just say these two banks were in a terrible neighborhood...crime-ridden.

I am amazed at all the IT and computer geeks here. Me too, I do graphic design and I'm working on a 2nd degree in web development. Someone on here says they do java work all day, I feel sorry for you, java gives me nightmares.

Maybe a good percentage of us geeks have bikes because we are the ones who can afford it?

I do java work all day. well, in between youtube, or.net, espn.com, and pingpong matches. I've been doing java for about 8 years. I started with C++...that gave me nightmares!

Being that your profession is graphic design, i'm not surprised that you don't like java. That's artsy...all right brain. Techy crap like java is all left brain. My point...it's rare that someone does/enjoys both.

I envy the graphic design profession...I have zero artistic ability. I'm lucky my clothes match occasionally

i went after tgiving...first time in that place...and it seemed packed!!! Putty and Bananas claimed it was kinda dead compared to other times. I find it amazing that there are that many people in to guns. I'm glad i'm not a criminal...scary to think how many citizens are protecting themselves!

Man, I really try to be a fan of OSU, but every time I try, they show me why I can't be.

Few things from an armchair perspective:

1) Truss needs to be taken into the office and told that if he doesn't change his coaching style, he's out. No matter what amount is left on contract. He's too nice, too gentle. It's like his balls haven't fallen down yet...

2) Truss again, but more specific... Truss needs to realize that just because he's got a QB that is a Senior, doesn't mean he HAS to play. There's a thing in ANY sport called rhythm. Go 1st and 2nd down and then put a different QB in there and it is not only tough for that QB, but tough on the first guy to come back on 3rd and long and try to make something happen. Pryor is simply a better QB. He's a legit Freshman and while his completion % was similar to Boeckman's, Pryor can move, can run, can do about everything Boeckman cannot.

Why there is this need to try and get playing time for a guy simply because he's a Senior is Pee Wee league crap. People have to win, people have to lose. Pryor is a better QB than Boeckman and therefore, tough luck for Boeckman, but he should sit vs. playing - especially this mixing them in crap...

3) Play calls. 3rd and long and Truss runs it up the middle. 4th and short yards in Texas territory and they go for 3 instead only to miss. They gave the ball away anyways and the reality is that they could have used Pryor to get that 3 yards and the 1st down.

In the end, Truss is a pussy. He's too conservative, too gentle a coach and WAY too concerned about giving fair time to those that are seniors or could be offended to being replaced by someone better. That's life - we all are up for replacement. Again, some win, some lose. Build on what you have and move forward instead of holding things back in an effort to be "fair"...

People who know me...know that I despise all things that are OSU. With that being said, complaining about Tressel is basically unwarranted at this stage. He wins 10+ games per year and gets you to a BCS bowl every season. I guess some fans are just plain spoiled.

I know you'd like to win some of these bowl games...especially those last two NC games. Tressel is not out on the field playing. 2 years ago when Troy Smiff won the Heisman and basically had the best statistical season for an OSU QB ever, he shat down his leg in the big game. Blame Troy, not Tressel. Last year, they were simply over matched and LUCKED in to the NC game. this year, they competed to the very end...and played well. I commend him for getting Boek in to the game...he's a far better passer than Pryor - stats will prove this.

If you're going to blame anyone, blame the Big10. It was 37 days since OSU last played. You dont think that layoff hurts? their season is over 2 weeks before the rest of the big teams.

Mike Tomlin played all of his players in the Steelers' meaningless game vs. the Clowns...Ben Roth got concussed. Tomlin said he'd do it all over again...he didnt want his guys taking two weeks off and getting out of game shape.

My point...Tressel, as much as i hate him, is a pretty good coach....you're lucky to have him. the long layoff is a bigger reason for shitty bowl performances from the big10.
