  1. Haha the first one was a rough start. Second was pretty even from what I recall. You remember how quick Jamie's car jumped out on your Busa. R8 moves out pretty hard. I'll give him the hit next time. :)

     

    Yes but I gave them the hit so the AMC would not run me over. :) Out come would have been the same, but a capable rider in the right gear on a modded 1k should leave with you at a minimum. It will make for a great video too. ;)

  2. Sounds good man. I ran Danny on pump and it was pretty close. The vid below was the run with Oliver. I had the car turned up a little more.

     

     

    The outcome may not have mattered-but Jesus those where the worst starts to a roll "race" I have seen in some time!

     

    Keep it simple-give him the hit and see if you come back around him. ;)

  3. I think Im in love....

     

    Body is 99% done. Went down there and fired up the welder to fit up the Intercooler. Had to go forward 5 inches, down 3, and now sits at a very slight angle.

    Just need to modify the IC pipes-wash and Buff and its ready to come home for final prep before the shootout.

    About ready for paint! I am in a holding pattern on mods until I get the car back, but plans are to have it ready to run in TnT at the DSMshootout.

    Here is the list of things I'd like to do before then;

     

    Move intercooler to new location (down and forward to fit new bumper)

    Intakes

    Catch Can

    340's

     

    And if time permits

    Tii Rear/axles just for some insurance

     

    If I can get the 340's and Tii Rear end in, I plan to leave fairly aggressively and turn up the boost. If I can get the car to fuel 20+psi till redline I am hopefully that I can hang it in 4th long enough that it does not completely lay over on the shift to 5th I'd like to see the car go mid 9's@low 150's. With the 4.11 rear end, stock redline, and going into 5th, I think that's as good as its going to get.

    BTW, even though it's cheap and shitty, I just got the dip sprayer system for fathers day. I don't have any black gallons yet, just anthracite metallic, but you're welcome to try it out. I'd gladly help.

    Rattle cans are fine on wheels, but the new high gloss top coat takes the "dip" look away.

     

    Thanks for the offer-but are you in C bus? Im in CLE, so logistics there could be an issue.

     

    JP, are you camping at the track for the shootout? I hope to camp fri-sunday with doing some T&T on Friday/Saturday with my car. If you want to park close, you can enjoy the fruits of helping hands and copious amounts of booze at night.

     

     

    Still working that out. Got the Family at Great Wolf lodge Friday, so that's where I will be Friday evening. The Cleveland Colt Militia has a RV what will be parked at the track for the weekend, but I may just extend our stay at Great Wolf...not sure. But if I am at the track-I will for sure find your camp :)

     

    I wont be racing Friday, but plan on being ready to run Saturday as that's the best time for TnT with the new format. Really, he uses TnT as a filler. If the classes are behind, he may not run TnT at all. That happened to me one year-no bueno

    I suggested color change and suggested some sort of gunmetal, do to the additional cost he could not do that for free+labor in fixing it up.

    I've heard a lot about sponsorships might look into it for my project.

     

    Its great if it works for both parties

     

    Those wheels look great. Leave them alone. Plastidip looks cheap and shitty on everything.

     

    We will see how I feel when its done. Its temporary, so I am not afraid to change it back. :)

    Sorry for the tiny pic-but he decided to paint the whole car on a sponsorship basis! Still working out the details, but I will have to enter it in a few local car shows, and make sure I am running his stickers when I do. I'll take that any day. ;) Car will still be black, but will have an added pearl. Not to flashy, but not stock either.

     

    I think with this I need to get tint ASAP, and may block plasti dip the wheels and try the full murder look.

  9. Couldn't you get the same power with less boost and colder air theoretically? IE safer power?

     

    Thats the goal

     

    You could just buy a quality intercooler that isn't built by the lowest bidder to do the same. Don't get me wrong, cold air is good, but once its compressed by a snail, you are relying on the intercooler more than the intake temp to get your IAT's down.

     

     

    I dont disgree-but having both and the treadstone that everyone uses in my hands back to back, I dont think there is anything to be gained there-maybe if I built a custom unit with huge Garrett cores, but I would just go A2W before I spent big $$$ on an intercooler.

  10. mine sucks in plenty of hot air and still makes plenty of power.

     

    Not sure you want to add more cold air in your car as its already on the ragged edge!!!!

     

    Just because something "works" does not mean it cant be improved. ;)

     

    Also I'm sure my China Intercooler is inefficient near 20psi. If I can get the IAT's down 40-50 degrees, that will lead to exponential gains in higher gear-especially on back to back pulls in Mexico.

     

    The car was pulling timing hard last time at the track. Granted, it was 90+ with 85%+ Humidity and I was hot lapping the fucker, but I know there is room for improvement there.
