  1. Congrats, man! Much like bambam, I'm terribly jealous - I've been lusting after one of these ever since they were first announced.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I'm a big fan of the yellow, and I really liked your bike when I saw it at the big group ride last fall. If you do decide to sell, definitely let me know.
  3. For reasons only slightly know to me, I have decided that I would really like to give one of the 09+ R1's a try as my next mid~long day backroad bike. I've seen quite a few good deals in other states, but nothing that has caught my eye nearby. There are a couple at Akron area dealers, but the advertised pricing is so far out of touch with private seller values that I doubt any of them will pan out. I'm not picky about the color, although I'm a big fan of Yamaha blue (the '09 yellow is also strangely appealing), and don't mind some good quality performance/handling/comfort related mods. Not really interested in bling or drag-focused bikes. If you know of anyone that's considering selling, just shoot me a PM. I'm basically ready to go as soon as I find the right bike.
  4. I have an HJC RPS-10 that I used all of last year and really liked it. HJC's seem to fit my head well, and the RPS was extremely light, which I liked. Since I always ride with earplugs, I really couldn't tell you about the noise. I did a trackday last year with a guy that had one of the new Bell Stars and it seemed like a really nice helmet. One of the things that I really liked was the visor than transitioned from clear to dark based on the lighting which is something I wish was available in other brands.
  5. H4wt. I've actually been looking for an 09~10 to pick up this year and am a big fan of that color (other than the seats). How have you liked riding it? I've not ridden one, but the way they sound is absolutely wicked.
  6. Akron must have dumped at least 3 metric tons of salt onto the roads near my house, most of which is still there. Unfortunately that means my bikes will be staying parked .
  7. Hopefully everything will work out again this year. I will definitely do another one of these if I can.
  8. Bike is sold!!! Thanks for the interest everyone.
  9. 1 bike closer - Once the 900SS is sold I plan on looking for one. Looks like some decent deals on new ones, plus I may see if any low mileage used ones pop up on the market in the Spring.
  10. Bike is sold! Thanks for the interest and kind words everyone.
  11. Yes, I've had quite a bit of interest, but the bike is still available. If you're interested in coming by and checking it out, just shoot me a PM and we can work something out.
  12. Got some family stuff to take care of today, but will probably try to ride tomorrow. You guys have fun!
  13. OH-26 is an awesome road - one of my favorites. The pavement is in good shape, and it's usually pretty clean and light on traffic. I recommend breaking off on OH-260 down to the river and hitting 800 up to Woodsfield from there. That stretch of 260 is absolutely fantastic. LINK's suggestion would also be a ton of fun.
  14. Got some fantastic weather headed our way, at least for now - perfect for picking up a Speed Triple to enjoy it
  15. Got some fantastic weather headed our way, at least for now. Nothing like a nice fall ride on a desmo twin
  16. Out of town next weekend otherwise I'd be all over this.
  17. Seriously awesome video, Doc. The vision of putting this whole thing together (the ride and the video) has been pretty amazing. Definitely looking forward to the ride videos.
  18. This. I generally don't eat when I'm out riding, and needed to get back home. Timing it to miss the rain was an unexpected bonus. I was a little concerned at the beginning about the logistics of it all, but honestly I wound up having a great time. One of my favorite things about the FZ1 is that I can have fun going fast or (more typically) slower. For such a large group I think you managed pretty damn well, Doc, and I think with a little fine tuning the next one will be really fantastic.
  19. Little mishap on 556. Fortunately rider = ok and bike = rideable.
  20. Just made it back. Had a good ride back on 148/9/212 and managed not to get rained on. Unbelievably sorry about your bike, Bad and also about yours, Versys - Just glad you were ok. On a side note, OH-556 may be my new favorite road.
  21. Awake and caffeinated. Forecast not looking quite as good, but good enough.
  22. Everyone knows that owning a Speed Triple, especially a green one, makes you instantly cooler than everyone else. Someone should definitely grab this at this price. GLWS!
  23. You can swing by Akron and buy my S3 or 900SS this afternoon
