NBC To Make American Version Of Top Gear Called “Gear”
Smokey replied to ImUrOBGYN's topic in Passing Lane
it's all going to depend on who hosts it, and you know that Clarkson won't. Since the real show has gotten so much attention here anything sub-par will immediately TANK. It'd be nice if they'd just pick up the current show, but that isn't happening either. -
Do you have a clutch-type LSD or Gear? What brand is it? *in my experience* yes, you should either get a transmission fluid designed for LSDs or put the additive in there, but this is really for clutch LSDs although I'm sure it couldn't hurt a gear type. If you have a clutch LSD and had troubles from the fluid, it would merely slip, and you'd just do a one-wheel-peel. I don't really see fluid causing a problem with a gear LSD but I could be wrong. I think you'd have to do a nasty series of launches to break the LSD before your stock axels though.

family/friends/job usual stuff keeps me around. Both mine and my wife's family reside close to c-bus so it keeps us close. I would love to move to a warmer climate, but when you look at places like pheonix, carolinas, and florida yes there isn't a winter, but there is always still a "prohibitve" season to being outside. Whether it's 115 degree summers or hurricane season, there are VERY few places that will allow you an outside lifestyle all year round and they're very expensive because of it. I hate winter, but realize that there will likely be a season I don't like everywhere I go. Plus, who the hell in they're right mind would want to drive in Florida on a regular basis?!

radiator endtanks are made of plastic and will shear off at the neck for the upper radiator hose. This leads most 7 series driver to serious engine damage because they don't notice the massive steam/mess coming from their car spewing coolant until it's too late. get the vin and take it to a BMW dealership and see if they'll look up the history for you.

Entourage is the best show on TV /thread

Oklahoma ticketing people who drive slow in the left lane!
Smokey replied to DeathSandwich's topic in Passing Lane
it's an awesome idea, but if you looked at the specific state laws they listed, it couldn't be applied to Ohio except perhaps on the major freeways and I'm willing to bet that wouldn't even go very far before being stopped. You would think that since we have the state with the reputation of having the toughest traffic enforcement in the country that we'd actually be able to see some postitive benefit from it (such as this)....but alas...we're just screwed -
also, what do you guys use to put between the cardboard and the wheel? Just some styrofoam to take up the space from the face to the lip? Or do I need to protect the lips as well from impact?
-
thanks for the info guys, Mike, I'll check into Parcel Plus. I also work pretty close to the DHL by CMH so I'll check that out too. I guess I should have stated that the wheels are 17s with 225/45 snow tires mounted on them. I did receive a set of wheels that just had the cardboard on them and were taped together and I didn't have any issues with them, I just wasn't sure if there was some magic secret out there.
-
NICE COLOR! want to go check out a car for me that I'm looking at in Schaumburg?
-
ahhhh.....good memories when those wheels were that clean. Now, they're pitted with the dust of track pads and would never look that good again without more work than they're worth. first Funday at Nelson is 4/18/08. As long as the weather isn't complete crap you can count on me being there!
-
no insinuation intended It is incredibly hard to tell between the M and S series motors though. so Nick, when are you bringing it to the track?
-
What is the most reasonable way to ship a set of wheels/tires these days? I searched and there was a thread back in 04 where the general concensus was FedEx ground. Has anything changed since then? My only constraints are that I'd like a tracking number and it has to be delivered to a residential address (so greyhound or freight companies are out). Also, what do you do for packaging? They have tires mounted, so can I get away with putting cardboard circles over each side and strapping (taping) 2 of them together? or do I need to buy some bigass boxes to put them in?
-
technically it could have been just a swap of the plastic covers.....he'd have to be looking pretty close to notice the oil filter housings were different and he now has a S52 in it. Car looks nice! I've always loved the DS2 wheels, they're my favorite factory wheel other than original stamped LTWs, but those are some serious cash.
-
if I remember correctly from when this was actually posted in the summer the wheels were torqued, but there was an issue with the wheel studs that were provided to him for them, and they all broke.....at once.
-
I think it's just people talking crap about him. He's had plenty of fast cars other than the black supra.
-
but your mom's marketing can SUCK Cheryls ass also, does anybody know the story on this supra? Looks quite the business.
-
I'd imagine it's since his name is Cavin Green

BMW released a statement that the factory oil temp sender was faulty and reading high and then causing the car to go into limp mode along with the other associated problems. Who knows if they're just trying to cover up/damage control though. Only the non-sport models came without the cooler originally and now all cars come with them, but I'd still think that an upgrade should be a must-do mod for anyone driving the car hard. On bobistheoilguy they were saying that even the best synthetic oils are being so contaminated by fuel that they're breaking down in as little as 2K miles....that's scary....especially if you ever thought you'd buy one used and not knowing if they went with the stupid-long BMW recommended intervals.
-
you just wait....it'll happen....but at the same time I need you to hold on to it for a while so I can pay off all my debt first. Nate, I'm also interested to see some long term durability updates. I've heard that the N54 is suffering from the same cyllinder wash down and oil contamination problems from the direct injection that the RS4 was having.
-
agreed. My friend had an e39 M5 and I absolutely loved that car.
-
unfortunately this car is a major disappointment for me. Market pressures to include all of the navi and other options made this car balloon in weight. The weight of this car is way over what it should be, and that in my mind ruins the idea of having a small, nimble, fast car. Instead you have a car that pretends to be small but yet weighs just as much as an e46 M3...which I'd WAY rather spend my money on. I'll just hold out for Andy to sell his M3 to me I suppose.
-
we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one Brian
-
really? first time I've ever heard that. Some people don't like the rasp of the e46 but it's really grown on me. They weren't even that loud (I've definately had first hand experience with both of those exhausts)
-
cool thread. Great stuff posted so far. old school cool here http://youtube.com/watch?v=foDcLUhUKqI and here for my 6 banger bretheren e36 M3 - e46 M3 - and the almighty 997 GT3 RS -

yeah, I think that's fair for them. If retail was $350 I would have still paid it, so why be so pissed about it anyway? Now...I'm not paying the $400+ that some people are asking, that's a bit much.
