Careful with the kerosene. My dad used to paint cars, had this older black gentleman he repainted his Lincoln for. Car was AMAZING, most beautiful old Lincoln you'd ever seen, not "gangsah" nice, but genuinely WOW, thats a nice old Lincoln" nice. Well about 2 weeks after my dad painted it, the guy came back to the shop. Mouldings were falling off... My dad was like WTF, but since he repainted the car, and replaced the moldings, he replaced them. this happened about 2 or 3 more times my dad couldn't understand. He's used 3M moldings forever, still does. they got to talking, specifically about the car, since it WAS the cleanest Lincoln my dad had ever seen, no bondo, no rust, nothing. PERFECT. Turns out the old guy washed the car with Kerosene... and it melted the adhesive. Was the last time my dad replaced the moldings for free

Just out of morbid curosity, what makes a bike like that worth so much? I've never ridden a Duc, and certainly can't operate a motorized scooter to the degree you can, Lizard, but my question is; In all honesty, what makes that bike worth 2x a R1, GSXR 1k, or CBR 1k? Is the bike really all that much better, stock for stock? Even Stock with proper springs/suspension adjustments? Is there really an extra $10k worth of "one-uppance" in the Duc, or is it all in the name?

I've been reading up on them, the general consensus is that if your under 200WHP, they're fine. I'm looking at a set plus an extra chain to swap back and forth. Also, it's not like your bike will simply refuse to turn after extending it, people seriously over exaggerate a bike with extensions. twisties are still possible, we ride with a guy with a 8" over swing arm on a Gixxer 750 and he does just fine, it just takes a little extra effort and some more lean to make it go.

Damn dude, that sucks big time. I'm glad your okay, relatively speaking. How bad is the bike? I love the RC51's, sucks to hear about one going down.
