  1. He probably figured out you could buy a new 08 that is actually heads and shoulders better than the "LE" he wasted his money on. He got trapped in the gold wheels and the name Ohlins and didn't realize they meant nothing overall... Forks are street forks and worth shit and the wheels equal taking a good ol fashioned poop... $18k for a bike that became old quick.
  2. One of the things many of the FT endurance guys do that is really a bad thing to do for endurance racing is they pit too early and too often. What typically happens is that three or four "buddies" go in to a year of FT racing and they all want the same amount of seat time. So, they figure on pulling each rider in at 30 minutes for equal time, etc. Rule #1 with ANY endurance racing - run until you NEED to pit. A race can NOT be won in the pits, but you can easily chalk up a loss in the pits... Run the stints until you NEED fuel. Typically, that is 40-45 minutes each time out. We usually ran two riders for the FT 3 hour races. That's each rider getting 45 minutes in their first stint, the first guy gets another full 45 and the second guy gets the remaining amount of time (Usually less than 45...). What we used to do is start our fastest guy or the guy who starts the best. That excluded me as I suck at starts!! but, if you run three guys, run the second guy as the fastest of your group. If you run three riders, that way the fastest guy runs the most time. He'd be in rotation to be second on his first stint and would run after the thrid guy... That way, you finish strong and can make up anything that was lost. All the FT guys promote fun and having a good time. However, when ANYONE races, they race to win something. Whether that is money or a plaque. So, if you want to win, stopping every 30 minutes isn't the formula. If a team comes in and does fast pit stops and does them only when needed, they usually crush the FT regulars...
  3. There's no size listed or on a tag or anything. It looks just like this (It IS this one...) and i picked it up thinking it would be good for Supermoto under my SM suit, but I used my Dainese one... http://www.teknicgear.com/catalog.php?styleid=1&pid=128 The picture is the same - mine is new condition as it was tried on once and never actually used... Make an offer and I can meet you or ship it or leave it with Flounder if you know him and the others...
  4. They have the same as WERA in terms of classes per CC size. Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight. You'd have to enter HW in either WERA of Fasttrax (FT). WERA has Superstock and Superbike in MW and HW and the LW class is SB rules... For FT, we'd enter HW with a 600, even. Their rules do NOT grid based on points, but rather HW in the first wave, MW second wave, and LW third with an Iron Butt in the fourth. We do HW so we can get in the first wave. Plus, it isn't tough running their HW class with a 600. Every race we've done has been on a 600 and we've won the overall...
  5. To fix or to buy? If to fix and you need a parts quote, call any of teh dealerships and ask them for a quote on plastics... I'd get it to a Suzuki dealer and get them to give you a quote for the parts and the amount it will cost to put it back together. Submit that total to the insurance company and then buy the parts on Ebay and do it yourself and pocket the remaining amount and put it into goodies for your bike. Easy fix, for sure...
  6. I have a Tecknic one with kidney wrap and plastic armor. PM me and I can email a pic. It's brand new and just didn't work for me.
  7. List has been updated. Eagle, Flower and Xaus have been sold. Deal on gear bag has been dropped, as well due to buyer getting more than one helmet so it is gone, as well. Thanks Nick!! The other two are still available so shoot me a PM with offers or related. Drew was wearing his helmet while driving yesterday. Weird.
  8. Dude, looks GREAT. If it looks as good as it does here in person, I'm going to hire you to paint that OPP stuff... Good job.
  9. AStar and Tecknic are the best low end suit makers. AStar makes high end stuff, as well, but they have entry level suits, too. Watch Rocket stuff. It sucks. I've crashed in JR suits before and they never once held up. They always came apart at critical seams and even had an issue where I fractured my elboq due to the suit not doing the job. FS used to be decent. I worked with their R&D department back in 2000 or so. They used to tape their seams and do a little extra you couldn't find in other suits. However, they are now back to crappy built suits. No tape, no removable liners, etc. The suit Pegram wears isn't the same... I'd look at used good suits. Stuff like Vanson, Syed, AStar, etc. If you do AGV, only look at their Italian line. The rest is junk and not worth the cash. I think that's about it on suits. PM me with questions. I sorta know that industry pretty well...
  10. Friend is a Highway Patrol Officer. You pull over after being clocked at triple digits and act cool and pull over asap? Not NEAR as bad as running. Not even close he said. You run, you're fucked. You pull over, you're fucked, but not as bad and the sentence isn't going to be as harsh. End response? Don't run. Ever. I have a few times and got away with it, but that was a long time ago before the cops were so heavily in force and an area where it was pretty wide open and you rarely saw cops. Now, you cannot go very far w/o seeing cops. Plus, you have a favorite road you and everyone rides? Guess what, cops find out and start running brief patrols along that stretch. You can't win...
  11. I agree 100%, but that's what they allow and also a few other racing orgs. In fact, AMA allows some Poly based stuff, as well...
  12. I was refering to OEM Green stuff... Those are synthetic Glycol based products that STT DOES allow... WERA does not. Actually, I'm not even 100% that we require the green stuff to be removed from Novice riders' bikes...
  13. I might be able to get you a small sized set of cheek pads and crown pad. I cannot guarantee that, though. They're cheap...
  14. I'll be down on Tuesday as it looks like right now. It can change and I can let you know. I can also leave it with Flounder if you know you'll see him soon, etc. The price is because the Gunwind is the oldest. The clear coat on the top diffuser has peeled a tad. I can get pics - it has nothing to do with the safety of the helmet - just got a little moisture I guess under the valley on each side (typical on Gunwinds...). That's really it. Plus it has a #11 on it so, it kinda is a specialized paint scheme. But I'm a Xaus fan and had to have it...
  15. You'll be fine. Just pay good attention to getting the lights taped and all things like turn signals, wheel weights (a HUGE missed area) and make sure there is absolutely NO anti-freeze in her. If you have any issues or concerns/questions, PM me and I will try and help. We look forward to seeing you there. What event?
  16. Guy seems to have vanished so... back up and price adjusted!
  17. Ok, if ANYONE buys two or more lids, I will reduce the prices and throw in a SUOMY gear bag with rollers. They are pretty much UBER rare and hard to come by. Big enough for a suit, two pairs of boots and needed accessories... I think it was $125. It's used, but in great shape. OR... If someone buys the Eagle lid at the posted price, I will throw the bag in. Make offers guys! I have helmets on teh way and no money!!
  18. You can't... You'll rip through a bolt too fast and puncture an oil supply line or something. Better have a pro do it for you... Like Yota or my mom...
  19. Here's the deal... I and A riders are riders that return and have experience at a track. They understand the aspect of safety and also understand what happens if someone oils the track and they get only an hour of track time for their money. Or, what it means to have a bike destroyed because of oil dropped. Novice riders are newbies. Many, first time track day goers. They have simply never been to the track and are somewhat aprehensive and not 100% secure. Some just want to see what goes on and how it goes about. If we have novice riders do everything the I and A riders do, it will certainly prohibit a TON of riders from even trying it. Many here are negative towards track days for wrong reasons and that's their own feelings. Many are interested and want to try it. If I told you to do all this stuff just to try and see, doubt you'd be too interested and probably stick to street riding. It's a business call and it makes sense. I think after 9 years of doing it, Monte knows a few things...
  20. I'm catching up to teh thread and assume someone has answered this, but safety wire holds the bolt and filters from backing out and causing oil to leak or the bolt to fall out. Vibration is an enemy for racers and track day riders. Imagine riding your favorite road at full tilt all day long. Vibration will cause things to become loose. Safety is key and even though it may be considered slightly overkill, it is a great precaution. I've been on the receiving end of a loose oil drain bolt and it wasn't pretty...
  21. No doubt!! He must have been on his knees to get that big a pic for the flyer!!! DAMNIT!
  22. STT is requiring all Intermediate and Advanced riders to drill and wire their oil drain bolts, oil fill caps and oil filters. As such, many of you out there may not be familiar with doing these things. As such, I have posted a "How To" thread on STT's site. It's fairly quick and not really well detailed, but since a lot of you on here ride at Mid-Ohio and other tracks with STT, I figured before the first event, this might be a good thing to look over and make sure you are fitting within the guidelines. NOTE: You can silicone the drain bolt and oil fill cap. It is a quick fix and certainly not recommended if you do more than one event, but the filter needs safety wired. NO SILICONE will make it through if I am teching you! Ask questions and I will try and give responses. April is fast approaching and I know a few of you are hitting up Putnam and Mid-Oh in April so, here ya go: http://www.sttforum.com/sttforum/viewtopic.php?t=2950
  23. Used to play goalie. Actually had a few scholarships offered for college. Of course, that was 20 years ago!!!
  24. Honestly, a MD fits me perfect. I'm pretty much a MD in everything - Arai, Shoei, Scorpion, Suomy, AGV.... So, not sure if that helps, but let me know... I think Drew doesn't know how to fit a helmet!
