Nah, not towards you at all. I was making sure to say that before street king NinjaNick chimed in... There are plenty of guys out there who can hang no matter what the bike. I had a guy who rode an ST1100 and could stick right to the back of us through some really twisty stuff... Definately believe there are those out there who really understand and are masters of their machines... I was pointing out engineering, HP and the fact that even on the streets of Willow (which is very much like the streets you find on your favorite road), the bigger bikes fall a bit short. HOWEVER, where they fall short, they excell in things like low end torque, comfort, etc...

What I said is what is echoed by the others. The bikes are totally different. The comment about engineering is arguable since the trickle down effect starts closer to the 1000s than the 14s and Busas... They get what the liter bikes have had for years... Things like variable mapping, adjustable velocity stacks, engine management for similar characteristics to traction control, etc. are found in 1000s and even now 600s... What I am saying is that on a pure engineering standpoint, the race bred machines are top shelf due to their duty in life. Busas and 14s have their place. I think that due to their low end torque and lower RPMs where they hit their power is useful for drag racing, for sure. Their top speed is pretty much a moot point since they are designed to be more aerodynamic and punch a bigger hole in the air. Again, it isn't HP that is doing that for them Looking at the charts, you have 165-170 RWHP vs. a ZX10's 165 RWHP. The ZX10 is much lighter, but is limited on how it cuts through the air. It isn't designed for straight line as much and needs to do it all in order to be a racer. Aeros are important, but not needed as much and the handling is a key that is needed for it's job... I'm not going to waste my time with challenges again. Wanna race? Bring it to a track day and let's decide. If you think the street is a better venue, fine. I don't care. Whatever. Challenges get thrown down all the time, but when the time comes to put up or shut up, everyone gets pretty quiet pretty fast... So, again, like stated before, each bike has a different role. If the Busas and 14s were intended for racing, they'd be out there. They're better off drag racing as they are much heavier and do not wheelie as easily as a bike much lighter with the same power. However, maybe Satan can chime in, but I'd be willing to bet a ZX10 strapped and with a longer swingarm to get near the ZX14s wheel base would actually do better 1/4 mile times....

Consider them yours. I'll be in Dayton/Cincy next Wednesday... -
It is supposed to be an "I" and "A" weekend only. No novice groups...

Actually, Monte and I talked and it isn't "required" but rather heavily suggested they do it in intermediate....

Honestly, 1000s like the ZX10, GSXR1000, R1, and CBR1000 have more engineering in them and based on power to weight, they are overall better machines in terms of performance and power delivery... Bikes like the 14 and Busa are great straight line/drag racers and will shine in that environment. They are really decent handling bikes considering their weight, but honestly, at 165-170 RWHP, they aren't that great considering a ZX10 will show 165 RWHP stock all day long and weigh in a LOT less... However, when riding the streets, the comfy seats and riding position of the 14 and Busa win out. I just get a kick out of the guys with these types of bikes thinking they bought the baddest machine out there. Straight line? Sure, a bit. However, baddest machine constitutes a bike that does it all very well. Not just a few points. Now, there's a lot of guys with tricked out Busas and 14s that will blow you away, but again, considering the time and money involved, a 1000 can be a killer in it's own right... To each their own, but realize they aren't that bad ass...

Was the bike crashed or something? Why a new rad and v. reg?

Daytona Motorsports Group Debuts New Class Structures
Moto-Brian replied to RC51 John's topic in Track is Crack
Actually, the liter superbike is going to be next to nothing in terms of purse so, it will most likely be avoided by the pro riders. The 600 superbike class is where DMG wants the attention to go. They are only entertaining the liter class since the rules for 2009 were set up so well... They're sounding as if they will allow it until 2010 and then decide. Honestly, I think the premier class still should be 1000s. I think there isn't a damn thing wrong with 600SS and the whole spec tire deal can work in either class. Adjust the current superbike class to work and run the 600s... -
You'll like the I group at Mid-O much better than at NESBA... The crew we have for Mid-Ohio is one of the best. Our crew for the east areas including Beaver isn't what I'd call as good, but still not bad as many of the Mid-O guys help out... See you this weekend and quit worrying about the weather. No more talk of that "R" word, you hear? I won't let you through tech of you do!!

Not sure what is funnier... The bird chasing the guy or the fact the guy is riding a DRZ400SM...

Got some stuff sitting around doing me pretty much no good. Cleaned out the trailer and garage and found some stuff that should go well for track day guys: -Pirelli Rains. Full rains - not street DOTs. they have maybe 10 laps from a sprint race. I honestly know it was a sprint, just can't remember if it was 8 or 10 laps... Retail is over $300 racer cost. Selling for $100... Will have them this weekend at Mid-Ohio. Cheap insurance if you pay for the day and it rains... -Vesrah Brake pads: -Vesrah SUPERS for the GSXR 600/750 2000-2003. Fits other bikes, as well, but they were for these years of GSXRs. Damn near new. SUPERS last forever and these were used for two weekends and then I'd swap them out. Retail for $150 a set. $30 -Vesrah RJLs. Have like 2 races on them. Again, each weekend, we'd change pads on the RJLs. Would make a great set for a track day person. Hell, I'd use them for myself if they'd fit my bike. Again, for the 2000-2003 GSXR 600/750s. Retail for $85 a set, I think. $25 BUY BOTH SETS and I will sell them for $45... -Vesrah RJLs for a ZX6R 1998-2002. Also fits GSXRs from 96-00. BRAND NEW in the package. Never used... Retail is like $85 a set, sell for $40

We actually call it douche throttle. As in "The guy used too much douche throttle..." Or, "Lookie at the squid who thinks he's a stunta. Douche..." My personal favorite: "Guy came back from the races and thinks he's Mladin. What a douche." Or the classic: "Douche."

Thiel's Wheels in Upper Sandusky has a tuner there named John Miller. Builds all their Harley Drag bike stuff and has extensive knowledge on bikes like the VMax. They can dial that thing in easily as i remember we always did a bunch of drag racing Max bikes... They have two dynos...

Please tell me you didn't actually knock the baffles out of the cannisters... You pretty much just ruined any good power increases if you did...
-
Interesting you didn't get a single side system. I suspect that Akro doesn't make one since WSBK requires dual. Whatever the case, nice to see someone buying a good system and one that is as much a work of art as it is functional. Good looking stuff, man.

Front end is still there... It's called it flipped and flipped and flipped and... I've done that and the only thing left on was the tank. And it looked like someone did a Mexican hat dance on it...

Is Dale still the Parts Manager?
-
Take them to Brian at Southside. He can do both wheels mounted and balanced in less than 20 minutes. Tell him the Fox guy sent you. He'll know who you're talking about. Tell him I expect it to be race track quality mounting - use the stick on weights. He's good and quick.
-
I guess when I heard he doesn't have much street experience, I was basing it on that. No worries, though. He's probably a good kid. A lot of good guys at HNW so, I am sure he's one of them...

If he's not an enthusiast and he seemingly rubs customers the wrong way and yet is ahead of the other sales guys, does it then mean there ought to be some searching as to whether the sales staff is as strong as it could be? If I got a salesman that wasn't in tune with motorcycles and was essentially just being a salesman, I'd look for another guy. Motorcycle sales isn't car sales and the thing that separates motorcycle shops from car dealers is the atmosphere and the fact that you "hope" the guys working there are enthusiasts... If he came from ASK... Enough said.

$8500 for an 06? Good luck...

No problem. Worked for a shop for about 6 years and have been in the industry for about 8.... I know what they know for the most part and can tell you pretty much what they pay for the units they have...
