  1. lots of people passed their motorcycle endorsement test on bikes than handle way worse than a hayabusa or a blackbird. the test has been around a long time, and old bikes handle like shit! When I was taking my test, a guy on a fucking scooter made us all look like clowns, but a giant black man on an equally giant Honda Shadow aced his test too. I was chatting with him before my test, and he said he had failed once, then come back and practiced the course after hours. He did better on his big ass cruiser than I did on my EX500 (I missed a cone on the slalom).
  2. I have nothing against drag racing per se, but I find it a lot more exciting to add braking and turning into the mix. If you wanted to pit in and do a clutch launch from hot pit every lap, I don't think anyone would stop you.
  3. truth. Corner workers would be part of that "etc." and to be safe, you really need two EMS crews so you can keep riding if one of them has to roll.
  4. You can insure a bike without having a license for scenarios where a parent owns the bike, but their 16 yr old rides it. Or if my wife technically "owned" my bike and I was the only one riding it. As for why people don't get their endorsement, I assume it's mostly laziness. It's a bit of a hassle, but not expensive or difficult. My cousin had bikes for years and never got his endorsement. He's also an LEO, so it's unlikely he'd get hassled about it, but other people feel a temps is "good enough."
  5. i was actually just wondering about how much it would run to get a lid (properly) painted. I just want a Browns replica helmet. 3 colors and all straight lines can't cost much, right? I want to pick up a closeout EXO 700 from STG, but the colors and designs they have left in medium are very limited.
  6. welcome back. I hope you'll reconsider on spending "pennies a year" on insurance. The bike is replaceable, but you aren't. Get yourself some good un-insured/under-insured motorist coverage. That will also make sure you're taken care of when some senior citizen or teenage girl hits you and doesn't realize it (or runs away). My bike was pretty darn cheap when i rode the street, but I still paid ~$300/year for insurance to make sure I'd get fixed if someone else broke me!
  7. please put a date in the title so people aren't checking an old thread weeks and months after the fact.
  8. it's cool that they're even testing a sport-tourer at the track.
  9. eh, the more i think about it, the more re-painting or replacing sounds easier... I can re-paint the thing without having to remove all the wiring. That stuff will need to be removed for powder coating so it doesn't melt to shit in the oven. worth it for wheels, but not for the trailer frame... Hell, I can probably replace it piece by piece from HF's catalog when it starts to fall apart! Would be cool to have the trailer match my bike though. Brown rims with orange frame:D now the BIKE wheels will be worth powder coating maybe.
  10. I am always tempting fate on the cool-down lap; even at trackdays. Once I take the checkered, I always give the CW's a thumbs up at 90% pace, and then try to drag my knee through 13 with my left foot off the peg. I've actually gotten to the point where it's pretty comfortable to put my right knee down with my left leg in the air. my buddy Mike said I looked like a dog taking a leak, and one of the CR's started referring to my exit technique as "doggy style."
  11. Well this is a long time coming... http://www.ruger.com/micros/BX-25/index.html and quite well priced!
  12. hahahaha - I almost binned it on Saturday waving to the corner workers on the cool-down lap. Almost.
  13. what makes the fusion a "sport" model? It seems like a much bigger car than the regular fusion.
  14. you wasted your 1 message on me? I'm flattered!
  15. yes. he raced the next day in Novice 600 Superbike! He was on DOT's in the rain, when the rest of the field was on rains, and 30 seconds a lap faster to begin with. He would have gotten lapped twice in the 8 lap sprint, but it was red flagged right before they would have caught up again. one of the expert HWT guys threw his Superhawk away in T12, and it slid right onto the race line entering 13. Now explain that comment about Jinu - I missed this story. He run off track waving or something?
  16. hahaha - i may have to register in Intermediate just to 'buzz' the race school students "This is what you're in for tomorrow suckas!" (in all seriousness, there is no requirement that you have to be fast to race. At the WERA race school this past weekend, there was one guy who was very nice, but also very slow... The mock race is 4 laps, and I could have easily lapped this guy on my cool-down lap, way before he ever took the checkered.)
  17. I would've come to your defense on that one. even my WIFE thinks that Miata's are "barbie cars," but having driven my neighbor's first gen Miata when I was 16, I would love to pick one up as a third car some day. I was drooling over the neighbor's Mustang GT (had a for sale sign on it, and I was 16...), and asked how he could possibly part with it. In his words, "the mustang's fun, but I can take you out in the Miata and put a smile on your face all day long." I didn't believe him, so he let me drive both 5 speeds in both cars. Lou was a pretty cool neighbor until his daughter got older and annoying...
  18. '05 Nissan Altima 2.0 S '07 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 V6 Like someone else said, cars are merely a mode of transportation. I doubt we'd even have the Tucson if I didn't have to tow the bike somewhat regularly. My wife hated my '98 ranger (I miss it ) and I hated her '03 Neon, but I would have preferred to be driving that than having blown up the transmission and being forced to buy the Nissan... The kicker is, she wanted to get rid of the ranger (130,000 miles) "because it was unreliable." Her neon blew the transmission with just over 60k on the clock. god I hated that car...
  19. bill of sale is always a good idea, but there is no set procedure without a title. A simple receipt for payment (signed by the seller) is probably enough...
  20. so... what does powder coating run? I like the idea of doing my trailer rims (which are about 1.5 years old and starting to rust...), but that makes me think disassembling the whole damn trailer and getting it coated might not be a bad idea eventually. worth it, or is it cheaper to just buy another HF 4x8?
  21. That is expensive for one of those replica suits. Check the clearance section of www.spartanleathers.com for similar suits for like $250 new... I also have a size 44 1-piece for sale in the classifieds. I adjusted the price after i made the title, so don't be scurred. **edit - checked spartan's site, and apparently they don't have those anymore. Sucks. sorry
  22. what are the odds this will sell out btw? i don't care if I have to ride intermediate, but i'd prefer to play in Advanced.
  23. Here - straight from the BMV site: "Commercial trailers weighing 4000 pounds or more are required to be titled. Certificates of Title is not issued on any commercial or utility trailer weighing less than 4000 pounds. The sale, purchase or mortgage of a trailer is the same as a motor vehicle except for the odometer statement, which is not required. To obtain license plates contact any Deputy Registrar's office." prove it weighs less than 4,000 lbs., and no title is required (unless it is a "travel trailer," i.e. an RV) - only registration. http://bmv.ohio.gov/registration_titling.stm#tog (expand the portion on commercial trailers)
  24. how? they are not vehicles, thus they do not have VINs if there is a "serial" number, why can't that go on the registration?
