I heard the same as you regarding the rental fee doubling. I'm really concerned the math won't work in the organizations' favor (that's for track days, AND race orgs). If they're only raising the track fees by $40 that's roughly a 20% increase (depends on what they were charging for just the North course). That means they have to make up the other 80% with more riders. More riders willing to pay 120% of the old fee. I hope the market will support that increase.

for you. How much did it rise for N2?
  3. i'm curious how much time all that money shaves though. Those huge rear tires generate grip, but they're adding serious rotating mass too. if you took a stock liter bike, stretched it, threw a sand paddle tire on it, and then a knobby on the front, how would that compare?
  4. I honestly think a decent cot is the lightest weight option, and it involves no modifications to the trailer. Both are big pluses in my mind. a small stand to lift the cot higher off the ground (allows for storage under it, giving you more room to walk around) might be the only modification I would make.

Saw some onboard footage from N2's day, and it is boner-inducing. Seemed like a lot of blind corners, but I may just be feeling that way because I don't know which way the new section goes. My only fear with this addition is that the cost to run the full course becomes oppressive. WERA has already said "we're not paying twice as much to race the full course because it won't draw twice as many racers." (that's paraphrasing Sean, but that is the gist of what he said).
  6. That sucks. I saw the video, and I can't understand how the bikes got together, but I guess it doesn't matter.
  7. Please don't take it to a shop... That sounds really simple. Like dirty carb simple.
  8. I think the hinge is what was screwing things up. I wired directly from the lights to the frame, and it seems to be working.
  9. The ground is giving me fits. That is all.
  10. I literally just went through the WERA thread about them calling the event last weekend. It's a shame that track is 'officially' unrideable in the rain. ('officially' per AMA Pro racing http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/ama-pro-riders-deem-mid-ohio-not-unrideable-in-wet-buckeye-superbike-weekend-on-indefinite-hold-for-weather/)
  11. I don't understand how they're making these 250 and 300cc bikes so heavy... They shouldn't be over 300 lbs. I wish there was still a market for street-legal 2-strokes. It could be under 200 lbs, and still obtain highway speeds.
  12. The 300 might be too fast to be fun. It's not a Supermoto. The extra weight will be felt on a tight track. I think the 250 would be more fun.
  13. i'm going with the 8 or 10 gun cabinet. I almost ordered online, but the one that is $89 online is "ready to assemble," which, while I trust myself to assemble it well, means it's subject to deconstruction by someone motivated... The next step up is $130 online or $90 at Fin Feather & Fur... may as well drive down and pay the tax on that.
  14. bring that KLX 250 out to CRP. You may want to remove the signals and mirrors. It's just sooooo cheap compared to taking your 300 to the track. A beater 250 race bike wouldn't be a bad route either, but the 16" wheels on the old ones limit tire selection.
  15. I have no experience riding a Grom, but it seems like most small bikes are capable of hitting the rev limiter in top gear. I really want to see what an XR can hit with 15/46 gearing, or even shorter if I can find smaller rear sprockets.
  16. Time to make a purchase. I'm between the stack-on 8 rifle metal cabinet that's been linked multiple times above, and an in-wall model that holds 2 rifles and a little else. The only advantage to the in-wall model is that it doesn't take up space in the closet.
  17. holy shit. I wish i could claim responsibility for this.
  18. isn't that going to be in 350Z price range?
  19. My wife will kill me if you say yes, but you wanna trade for a naked katana 750?
  20. trade me for the Katana? It needs fork seals, and I keep talking about doing a valve and cam-chain adjustment, but it runs so well, I haven't bothered... It's been down, but beyond some scratches on the cases, you wouldn't know it. I replaced the ignition cover after I put it down at 5 mph (dumb mistake on my part). The case itself cracked slightly and was leaking oil. I have the old case cover if you want to see how minor it was. I've ridden it with the new cover and gasket. It's good as new.
  21. bwahahahaha the speedometer goes to 150? Clean bike, and way cool for what it is. Hope you find a collector who will take good care of it.
  22. As if it's going to be hard to find a teenage girl to watch your kid when you own a sweet Miata?
