    Yamaha R3

Trade for a katana 750 in the fall?
  2. I'd take that straight to the cops. He should never have stopped.
  3. It may be because I have the base-model Corolla, but mine is very loud on the highway. Tire/road noise, not engine or wind. I do 400 miles a week to and from work. Real-world mileage for my 12 yr old model is 34mpg.
  4. How often are you calculating your mileage? I ask because my actual average mileage (after 5600 miles tracked) is considerably lower than my occasional calculations would have led me to believe prior to creating a fuelly account. I would also advise brian to take a look at fuelly for real-world mileage estimates. In my experience, it's rare for a V6 to actually break 30 mpg by much unless you're doing 60 with the AC off. No one drives like that.

    Free horse

Is there a hard deadline for this? My boss's parents have or had horses, and one of my mom's friend (her husband is a MC cop) also has a horse or two. Not sure if either want more.
  6. Your daughter needs a German Shepard puppy. It's a sign.
  7. also, the Bilt "Circuit Racer" appears to offer better protection for $39.
  8. The Bilt "Trackstar" is $29 and for that price, they can be damn near disposable... I have Alpinestars right now, and after 3 weekends of wearing them, they're starting to come un-stitched at some of the seams. My Cortech Adrenalines were great for what I paid, but also wore out before being crashed-out (not that I didn't crash them many times...)
  9. "TurnOne" has a TDI Golf, which should be the same powertrain as the Jetta. He reports 55+ mpg My mother-in-law has an Altima. The 4 cylinder will get 30 mpg, but it's a big "mid-sized" car. I had a 2005, and it was longer than our SUV in both wheel-base and overall length. The transmissions have gotten more complicated since that generation. Mine only got 26 mpg with the 4-speed. The 6-speed does a lot better. I think a V6 would ruin your mileage on any of the options you've listed.
  10. take it to Pawn Stars. Don't have to sell it.
  11. even the advertisement is awesome on that vid.
  12. winner x 2. look at the side-view mirrors on the Ford Fiesta. They have 2-piece side mirrors now because the A/B/C pillars are thicker than they used to be.
  13. I seriously looked at the Nissan Leaf a while back, but commuting 80 miles a day killed the idea for me. Someone who does less driving on a daily basis would have a lot less range anxiety though. Until the range extends by a lot, or the charge time drops to under 20 minutes though, I'll always want a gasoline vehicle in my garage along side the electric car.
  14. my grandfather had 3 of them in the garage of his lake house. I'm sure none of them ran, and they're all long-gone, but I haven't seen anyone use one since the 90's. I wish I'd been more mechanically inclined when my grandfather sold that house... He had at least 8 small engines in the garage, and 2 complete snowmobiles. One of them even ran!

    gas edger

well that's the other strong option... If it's not too far gone as an edger, I have been borrowing my dad's for the last 6 years.

    gas edger

not sure off hand. probably 25-30 though.

    gas edger

neighbor just handed me a 4-stroke gasoline edger with "carburetor problems." Assuming I can get it running, think it would have the juice to power a mini bike?
  18. I think a lot of us still look at electric vehicles wrong. They will save (or at least prolong) gasoline vehicles. At some point, gasoline will be super expensive, or too highly regulated to use daily. We'll drive electric cars 90% of the time, and our gasoline vehicles will be like treated classic cars.
  19. this seems like something easy enough to build if you can't find one. my neighbor just offered me a 4-stroke edger with carburetor issues. I bet it will run fine once I clean it up. Let me know if you start feeling crafty
  20. where and when? I'm bringing popcorn...
  21. Trailer versus ride is just going to be preference. Yeah you're "earning it" by riding, but I agree that slabbing it is boring. Trailering means cruise control, AC, the ability to eat while covering miles... It's definitely an appealing option at times.
  22. Gotcha. I would agree that jack-stands are never meant to "catch" a vehicle if another means of support fails. Even these blocks really aren't there to "catch" a vehicle so much as they would absorb some impact pressure and hopefully create a cavity for your vital organs while you're rescued.
  23. Are we really arguing against a safety measure? Cheap. Effective. Can't hurt. Seems like a win/win/win
  24. Probably why it's not in the "bike shop" section where it should be. That said, I'd like to see how much the asking price is.
