  1. not with the Duke, I don't think. I only know one person who has actually ridden a KTM 390, and his is not the Duke model. I am not familiar with the Honda model, but the KTM is $500 more than the Ninja 300 and R3, but has a much more appealing list of features (IMHO). If you're buying new regardless, the KTM is the way to go. ...but I'll acknowledge again that I don't know much about the Honda. You should probably ride them all and let us know
  2. Friend of mine had a lifted 2007(?) unlimited. I hated it. Tons of play in the steering. Horrible ride. Bad gas mileage. With stock ride height and tires, it may not be as bad. It will tow a small trailer as well as any small truck. I have only driven the automatic model of that generation. Again, the oversized tires probably dampened my experience with it. We did have some fun trying to get it stuck in the snow though. Only time we succeeded was in the pit lot after a browns game. I convinced my friend to attempt to drive up and over the 25' pile of snow that they had plowed into the center of the lot
  3. those looks like a hoot. I have heard good things about the 'supersport' 390, and great things about the KTM cup bikes.
  4. No idea how old your daughter or her boyfriend are, but it's illegal for kids to possess "alternative nicotine products." If there's no nicotine, then it's not an issue, but the "tobacco" laws changed in response to e-cigs showing up in schools.
  5. I totally understand saving money for the WERA round, but said costs are why I sold my 600 and why I'm so into the mini racing the last few years. PIRC is the most expensive round on the OMRL calendar, and without ever considering tire, gas, and 'crashability' costs, WERA costs $200 more to register. I do miss racing the full-sized bikes, but for me it was a question of "do I want to race my 600 twice a year or do I want to race a 100 nine times a year for the same amount of money?" You should come do the practice day and rent a bike. Total cost (if you don't crash) would be $100 for the day (including rental bike)
  6. Looks neat, but I would bet this thing means leftover 250's will be available at huge discounts.
  7. But you guys are using it as a platform to showcase and sell the parts. In theory, you're getting a return on that investment.
  8. Did the police confirm that they got hacked? It's much easier for shady employees to take card numbers than for hackers to intercept the encrypted data and then decipher it into a useable format...
  9. it's a really good time even if you just show up and hang out. Catch the last couple hours of practice on Saturday, then go out to dinner with everyone and have some beers.
  10. Tried to talk the wife into letting me apply for the writing position and for her to apply for the social media job, but she doesn't want to relocate. ...I'll keep working on her ;-)
  11. Last I heard, that was not happening. Kent was trying to make it an AMA sanctioned event, but I believe that never came to fruition.
  12. I know it's sort of late notice, but OMRL is running at PIRC this weekend, June 13 & 14. If you've never been on the kart track, it's very nice, and has some fun elevation changes. Saturday is an UNOFFICIAL practice day that the track is running. We will be sharing the track with rental karts, but there should be enough bikes for us to get 30-40 minutes per hour. Cost is $50 (or at least it was last year) and starts at noon. We'll stop when they make us (6:00 or 7:00), so there should be PLENTY of riding time available. Rental bikes are available for $50 + $25 crash deposit. Don't crash and your $25 is refunded. inquire at ohiominiroadracingleague@gmail.com Racing on Sunday is $65 for the first class and $15 for subsequent. We'll run qualifying in the morning to determine afternoon grids. It is only 1 heat per class due to the time qualifying takes, but it's a longer track than CRP, so 10 laps is more track time (my best at CRP is :56.x, my best at PIRC last year was 1:15.x) Even if you don't ride, it is a great spectator facility, and they'll have exotic cars on the North track through 'extreme experience' or something. I wouldn't spend $300 on a few paced laps, but it is pretty badass to hear a McLaren and a Lambo ripping down the front straight without very little other engine noise to distort its song. stop by my blue "www.OnlinePaddock.com" canopy and say hi. We should have plenty of shade, water, and probably beers after we're doing riding for the day.
  13. We are no longer the target market for west 6th. They want 22-25 year olds and 30 year olds who still think they look 25. It's all kids and creeps. I have no data to support this claim, but it seems like the crime rate has gone up on 6th as well. Where the rest of the hot spots have grown up, west 6th still tries to be college-y on weekends after 10:00. It's really kind of bizarre to go out to lunch there during the week and come back to the same place on a Saturday night. Barley House in particular. My friends and I used to do trivia there after work on Wednesdays and win gift certificates and drinks on the house. On Saturday nights, it's like a rap video in there.
  14. What's the smallest DR they make? a 125? Is that one street legal? I think ti would be a ton cheaper than a Grom, and just as fast. Not as short, but the larger wheels would make it less scary at speed.
  15. This is the first time I've seen a Grom owner actually admit this. FWIW, I do think the Grom can be faster than an XR100 if the layout favors top-speed. My XR is far from fresh, but it will barely break 50 mph with the taller "PIRC gearing." (14/46 I think)
  16. that sucks, but a better offer before cash in hand... I've been on both sides of that situation.
  17. Which batch? I agree that it is overpriced for the quality, but I did a tasting of 4 different batches, and their product improved dramatically throughout that time.
  18. You looking to eat great and drink well or drink great and eat well? (Or rather, should I send you to breweries on and around E25th or restaurants all over the city?)
  19. The problem becomes punishing the action versus punishing the result. I am going to assume that whichever officer said "shots fired" did so with a legitimate belief (or at least strong suspicion) that they were correct. The other officers take that at face value, and their state of mind is subjective, but judged objectively based on a reasonable police officer in the same situation. Those officers then use lethal force, again, with a good-faith belief that they're facing an armed suspect who has fired on police. On the one hand, what behavior are you trying to curb if everyone is acting with a good-faith belief that they're legitimately facing an armed and dangerous suspect or suspects who they believe have already fired on police? On the other hand, the RESULT is totally unacceptable: wo un-armed people were shot at 130 times. Finding a middle-ground between overreacting to the result and punishing good-faith beliefs is very tricky. What would you suggest police do differently from the start of the chase, or even in training? I think this was a systemic failure. Too many cars involved means too many officers. The initial report of a gun-shot that was (apparently) a car backfiring is fucked up beyond belief. I have not heard (m)any cars backfire, but I think I would know the difference between that and a gun... At least the first "shot" at the justice center. While driving, with engine noise and sirens, I understand that mistake - but things should never have gotten that far. Whoever erroneously reported that a shot was fired is really the root cause of this whole thing. Michael Brelo going kong after the fact is way down the line of fuck-ups, just the most glaring one.
  20. JB went this route as well, and I haven't seen him pursue it, so I'm thinking it was less than ideal. He loves data. I believe he sent me the Harry's readout from his commute home in the F150 when he first had it set up I don't think keeping the phone safe on the bike is a huge issue, but my 8 gig iPhone 5C was only $.99, so I have a lot less invested than most people...
  21. I wouldn't bitch about anything if I was having a good time. I'm all for improving skills, but I'd prefer to do that on a track I already know. The new layout is enough to learn for one or two days.
  22. whats your insurance deductible on the tires? Not saying a security system isn't a good investment, but tire slashing is kids being fucktards. Unless they are specifically targeting your house, I would be surprised if it happened again...
  23. Did you sell the multi or chicken out and remove the post again?
