Take everything to the high side (.0085), as the gap will decrease over time. -

Let 'em shit bricks. All of them. AIG included. No job? Twelve kids? Get rid of your cell phone and the Lexus. Quit buying the $100.00 sneakers for the kids. Public Housing? You can stay here for a year, then you're out. Cut it to the bone, and if it doesn't "light a fire under their collective asses", too bad. We have created it - never said we didn't. Its time to stop it, or a least make it a hell of a lot more difficult for it to perpetuate itself. We all make choices. Again, if you decided on an investment with greater risk, that's your problem. Your bad decision doesn't bother me in the least. You can pay your bills? Boo-Fucking-hoo. Everyone has the same opportunity. If my costs go up, they go up. Thats the way it works. Sure they do. Whats wrong with that? You want better doctors, better access, better networks? Work harder, invent something, do SOMETHING to make your life better. You have the same opportunity as everyone else. Guess you missed the whole ACORN thing. That class is there, they are LARGE and the vote Democrat....oddly enough, the same people that want to give everything to everybody. Hmmmm......

So, you're saying that we've created a whole class of people that will never be good for anything, ever? Please. Did you ever think for one minute that once people realize its a temporary thing, that might motivate them to actually DO something? Honestly, I don't know where you come up with this shit. Obviously, it wouldn't stop more "lazy people" from being born. What it would help to stop is this "dependency class" of people that the welfare system has helped to create. Sure, its not the final answer, but its a good start. Social Security isnt welfare because for the most part you're paying into it. Medicare is the same. Its a benefit for WORKING, not sitting on your ass pumping out babies to get more money. As far as your "retirement fund" being "in the market", that was a choice that YOU made. No one forced you to put it there. There are risks involved in investing in the stock market. Lost your nest egg?? Sorry, not my problem. You could have put your money in investments with little to no risk, but you want the big dollars, you open yourself up to more risk. Simple, isnt it? If someone chooses a career or a job that offers them the opportunity to make more money than me, good for them. Doesn't mean that I should get part of what they have though. Are they better than me? Maybe so, maybe not. Having more money than someone else just allows you to buy more shit. We arent talking about homelessness. Save your rant on that topic for another thread. Welfare hasn't been popular with me for quite some time. However, those that seek to perpetuate and grow the system are those that depend on the votes of that dependency class. Take away their free ride, and you lose votes. If you don't buy into that, I'm not surprised.

$4,000.00????? And you have to PEDAL???? Fuck that....

Disagree. You're stretching when you say that all the people taken off welfare will automatically turn to crime, and end up in prison. I dont believe for a minute that it would happen that way for two reasons - not everyone would turn to crime, and with the shiddy conviction rates not all of them would be there for long anyway. No, you left one out - sterilization. Again, you're assuming that everyone taken off the rolls would end up dead or in prison. Go for it. Lets see the numbers you're going to "stack up". You were the one that said it was cheaper, I'd say the burden of proof is on you. Plenty of "policies" and spending are enacted with one thought only - "HOW MANY VOTES WILL THIS GET ME". The welfare system is bloated, antiquated and rife with fraud and abuse. A program that was designed to be a temporary measure has turned into a lifestyle for a whole class of people. Its time that the fee ride ends.
-
You're right, it doesnt force them to be productive, but it does mean less of them being unproductive. Where's your facts dude? Come on, show me the numbers that your alternative is cheaper.

Hard to believe as it may be, many people sucking from the government teat dont WANT to work. They'd rather get what they can for free - no matter what it is. My business partner and I had an incident last summer with just such a person. It was a scruffy guy, probably in his 40's (could have been 30's or 50's) panhandling for money at the end of an off ramp on a nice sunny afternoon. We pulled off, and offered to PAY him to cut the grass at the shop, clean up the lot, etc. He refused, saying he didn't want to "work for food". Guess you just cant please some people.
-
Doubtful. Do you REALLY think that sterilization would cost MORE than paying to deliver and feed the offspring of the freeloaders? How about some facts to back that up?
-
What do economics have to do with it? Sadly, it'll never happen. Unfortunately even the liberal dems are not dumb enough to bite the hand that feeds them.

Glad to see that your new found moderator duties havent interfered with your post whoring

Beaver is easy - compared to Grattan or Mid Ohio - but ride a big bike there and it'll flat wear you the fuck out. I remember an STT day there are couple of years ago with my old 01 1000. Too damn hot....I was ruined for week after that. I still think that a track like Beaver with less technical turns and a shorter front straight is better for a noob. If nothing else it allows them to get comfortable in a "track environment" without throwing too much difficulty at them too soon. Grattan is interesting, but there are a LOT of places to get in BIG trouble. The camber change going into the bowl, the bus stop, the looooooooooooong front straight... I dunno...I think for my first track day I'd rather do Beaver. On a little bike.

I didn't know Sidney OH HAD and airport.....

Ohhhh.....lets see....modern x-ray equipment, perhaps an MRI...their Orthopedic Department was severely lacking. Of course, a broom, dustpan and mop probably wasn't in their budget either - general housekeeping was poor at best. Their answer to two broken bones and sever soft tissue damage in my left foot was some zinc oxide ointment and a half assed cast - no crutches. This wasn't at some back-woods joint either. It was "the best hospital" in the area. We drove past two others before ending up there. I can only imagine what they were like. Fortunately, the Doc's over here fixed it properly. For the record, the "treatment" over there cost me nothing. All they ever asked me for was my name and age. Oddly enough, the treatment over here didn't cost me anything either - I have insurance.

I'm not sure which is funnier..... The original post, or the one you quoted....

So true....so true...
-
No. It had nothing to do with not "growing up in their culture", and for the record I speak Italian. It had EVERYTHING to do with the quality of the care and the quality and age of the facility and equipment. It was far below what you find in a typical US Public Hospital.
-
I'm not sure where you get your information, but in 2007 The WHO ranked the US 37th, and Canada 30th. It also ranked France first, and Italy second. I've been in an Italian hospital, and I can assure you I'd much rather go to one here than ever go there again.

Love to.... Have at it.

You wouldn't call him your dude? Funny, I remember you being one of his staunchest supporters. Yeah, you're right....picking on defenseless, mentally challenged kids isn't nearly as bad as poor grammar. Just quoting what you said. Personally, I didn't bash any kids. That was someone else. Explain to me though, why you wouldn't hold the President to a higher standard of conduct than a DJ or a Cartoonist. I'll wait.
-
It doesn't? I really would have thought that the leader of the free world would be held to a far higher standard than the resident ball licker. I mean, Don Imus was, and he's just a radio dj. The NY Post's Political cartoonist was, and he just draws funny pictures. THAT boys and girls is what's killing this country.
